I bought the DVD as part of a set years ago. My kids ask why I still have DVDs, and buy them. This is why - if I own it they can’t take it away.

Same with books. When e-books first came on the scene, a wise woman said to me she would continue to purchase hard copies of book, "Whatever can be easily given can be easily taken."

Don't think for 2 seconds that that isn't part of "you'll own nothing".

Physical media is important.

Me too. This one. Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, It's a Charlie Brown Christmas. Miss the innocence and hope that these shows promoted.

Your Advent days are bringing back very wonderful memories of my childhood Christmases - thanks! In the rush of being the mom who has to pull it all together - I need to stop and think about the truths behind the joy of the season, expressed so touchingly through these "children's" Christmas specials. A reminder to keep the child inside alive:)

The song creates more emotion than most songs I know.

It was my fathers favorite.

Merci.

My favourite old animation no longer available is The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship, an old Russian folk tale. When our kids were young we made it a Christmas tradition to watch it while the turkey was cooking. We had it on VHS but it wore out and couldn't be replaced, and it cost me a fortune to source a DVD version that was a crappier resolution. Progress, huh?
