As Nation Prays For Hamlin, Something Has Not Been Mentioned
Do you see what I see? The New Taking A Knee Brings America Together In A Unexpected Way
“I’ve heard the Buffalo Bills organization say that "‘we believe in prayer.”
—Dan Orlovsky
“Praying For Hamlin,” is trending on Twitter.
As the two factions (pro-vaxx and anti-vaxx) clash, along predictable and long established algorithms, praying for NFL heart attack survivor Damar Hamlin became the unifying urge and call across the country.
Even news networks, even sportscasters, even ESPN.
“We’re all praying for Hamlin, and his family.”
Today it hit me, suddenly:
If you say you are “praying” for somebody, it means you believe in God.
Everything has been about dismantling the bond between the American people and God, in recent decades, and recent years.
Then all of a sudden, it seems that last night, even progressive America got over its urge to cancel and repudiate God.
You literally can not say, “We’re just praying…” while also pushing atheism.
We all know “we’re just praying” is also code for, “We’re not like those vile people wanting to talk about whether vaccines played a role.” I get that. But the way to take that stance, is—guess what? To acknowledge God.
I could be cynical and say all this talk about praying is the new fig leaf, the way to stall for time, avoid the vaccine injury elephant a bit longer, but I’d rather think of it like this: Prayer has made a big comeback in America over the last 24 hours. Whether people know it or not, whether it was to avoid the vaccine discussion or whatever else, it is suddenly very very mainstream to pray.
Here Dan Orlovsky leads a media panel in prayer on live television.
Wow.
Yes Celia, in times of trouble we all need a place to go.
For myself, I go running to God.
Normally faster than I'm capable of.
The comfort and grace I've received is worthy of print.
We are not so different, only a few want us to believe that.
Sadly most of us fell for it.
I'm among them.
At least to some degree.
My father, who was a WWII vet, mentioned on more than one occasion,
put the atheist in a foxhole with artillery exploding over the bank and we'll see what his belief is.
Thank you for pointing this out. A bright spot in an otherwise dark chapter.🙏🙏🙏
