He was on my mind too, Celia, as I just rewatched When Harry Met Sally. I appreciate that film more the older I get. Hollywood seems only to know how to raise psychos, trans kids, spoiled nepo babies, and drug addicts. All these actors and directors have really disturbed kids. That's a rabbit hole onto itself. RR and his son worked on a film together some years back. Stabbing one's parents to death indicates even more rage than the Menendez brothers shooting theirs. Very sad.

Apparently he had had previous mental health & addiction issues with heroin since he was in his teens. Shoot the life of a teenager growing up in LA, being the son of a famous Hollywood actor/director, was probably not a mellow teenage hood.

Masha V. Tupitsyn's avatar

Exactly--because the parents turned out to be Leftist lunatics, as we have been leaning for 10 years, and in many cases, much worse. At best, these people were never home and did not raise their children. Worse case scenario, they were abused by their parents and/or by the industry. You don't end up a massive child drug addict and homeless (despite your parents wealth) for no reason.

Trish's avatar

I would caution rushing to judgement, we don't know the entire history here and I suspect we never will. Perhaps they tried to help their son numerous times. I know a man who rescued his son from the street and drug addiction, put him in rehab at least 5 times and his son continued to go back to the streets until he hit rock bottom and admitted himself to a rehab clinic. He now counsels addicts in LA.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Well…knowing Mr. Reiner’s public persona over the last many years, and his “politics”, it is likely that he wasn’t the cozy, stable parent, who reached out to his kids. And his father Carl Reiner, wasn’t known to be the best father either. There’s SO many factors to consider here in this story. 🤔😔

Michael Framson's avatar

I only knew the creative, very entertaining aspects of Carl and Rob Reiner. As always, there is a side I don't know of Hollywood.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

There is always a ‘side’ to famous people that we never see or know about. Why should people in the film and entertainment industry be any different? The ‘film and entertainment’ business has always had a dark side to it, whether it be on the stage or on the screen. Many male actors who were homosexual, married women to be a ‘cover’ for their proclivities towards other men. It was a known thing in Hollywood.

And in the past number of years the curtain is being pulled back on many who have been revered and looked up to in the film industry, as to their true character. And some have been into some pretty kinky and evil stuff. Why do you think it is called ‘acting’ being done by an ‘actor’ or ‘actress’? 🤔🥹

Cheryl Beck-Ruff's avatar

Omg. You don’t have a clue about mental illness, nor the compassion and capacity to learn. Why must everything be politicized to score ridiculous “culture war” points? Mental illness can’t be cured. It sounds like this family was trying to manage the best that they could. Just take a beat and try to be empathetic.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Toxic empathy is how women celebrate illegal migrants and soft-on-crime policies, even as they are increasingly preyed upon by mentally ill, criminal brown men repeatedly released onto the streets, after increasingly violent behavior. Toxic empathy is how you get a black woman to run the DC Police Department, who’s chief crime fighting policy appears to be not recording crime or arresting very many criminals, with consequently one of the highest murder rates in the world, worse than civilian casualties in the Ukraine war.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Our comments do not lack empathy. Empathy, “the ability to identify with or understand another’s situation or feelings”. How do our comments lack empathy?

I find the word “ empathy” or having “lack of empathy” is being bantered about by the “bleeding heart liberal” types in great abundance these days.

Cheryl Beck-Ruff's avatar

If you have to read a definition and question why we say it, you probably don’t have it. Empathy means caring about ALL people. Stop with the “soft on crime”

trope. That’s BS. We just happen to believe in following the Constitution and giving EVERYONE their day in court.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

I don’t have to look the word up because I know what it means. I know what it means to you… and how do I know that? I have scrolled through your Substack page and posts and what Substacks you read and or follow.

I have a fairly clear picture of where YOU are at…which appears to be a lefty, progressive, woke, privileged, white woman who cares about ALL ‘illegal’ people of color who happen to be ‘migrants’. That they have the same ‘rights’ as a ‘legal citizen’ of the USA.

You mention The Constitution, where in The Constitution does it state that people that have entered the USA ‘illegally’ have the same ‘rights’ as a legal citizen of the USA have? That they have the ‘right’ to work here, receive public benefits and what not, (on the taxpayers dime), the same as a legal citizen . Humm I don’t think so.

I didn’t know the son was homeless as well. 😒

Sonja's avatar

Why do rich people allow their family members to be homeless? Why didn't they get him an apartment.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

I’m sure they were at their wits end. For over 15 years they have been dealing with their son. Some bougie LA psychiatrist likely advised the parents to let him go. He was an adult so they couldn’t make him live somewhere. And no one could make him take the meds either. They would have to forcibly ‘commit’ him to a psychiatric hospital. I’m sure there are some ‘family dynamics’ going on here that we will never be privy to.

Tehtee Clair's avatar

Don’t waste you energy on the bots or haters that align themselves with the Turning Point like Orgs. Don’t.

Masha V. Tupitsyn's avatar

I am not a bot and I am not "politicizing" anything. I said it was sad right off the bat, and that I loved When Harry Met Sally, and recently rewatched it. Reiner was a lunatic based on his nonstop TDS. That's not a secret. I am merely recognizing a pattern based on years of research on cinema and Hollywood and what has been reported. Apparently, you know better. I didn't know I needed permission to express my views. Celia constantly blogs on/interrogates these issues--nonstop, in fact. So if you have such an aversion to that, why are you here? To accuse and dismiss me as a bot? I said nothing about Turning Point, which I never followed, and never aligned myself with anything but my own life and values. It is not a culture war, as you put it. It is a spiritual war that plays out culturally and politically. I was commenting on the reporting I read, and what I have heard over the years about Reiner's son. And @Cheryl Beck-Ruff, what do you know what I have a "clue" about, or what I have experienced in my life? I am the bot but you are the true suffering human? No one has any manners or empathy anymore. Everything is a baseless anonymous immediate attack. You post a comment and get a random diatribe. The Left doesn't have a clue about "living with mental illness," they only know how to manufacture and unleash it upon everyone else, and then demand we accept it, fund it, and celebrate it. I was on the Left my entire life (no more!), so don't accuse me being some clueless right winger, which you clearly think anyone who questions our perverse Mkultra society is. Mental illness is an industry.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Amen Sista…these people like Tehtee Clair and @Cheryl Beck-Ruff (whom I have never seen either one of them here on Celia’s Substack) are popping up on Substack’s all over the place, to meddle and what not. Just look at the language and how it was written. Better to not engage. I found out the hard way here, that some people are beyond reason and rational thinking. And no matter what rational, reasonable, and thoughtful response you give them it doesn’t matter. They pop on here, go postal with their delusional comments and then away they run.

Oh and a PS: if you want to check these people out click on their name and look at their Substack.

Who they subscribe to (paid or free), what they “re-stack” on their page. It is very revealing by what is there and well as what is NOT there. This Tehtee Clair is a real piece of work, and “she” appears to be trolling Celia’s Substack, based upon her “re-stacks” and what not. The same goes for @Cheryl Beck-Ruff as well. Check her out…(she is a she, she posts her picture).

Thank you for the reminder and support! The irony is I never even post comments normally! Maybe once or twice a year, on Celia's Substack only, because I have been reading her posts for years and love her work. I don't have a comment section on my own blog. So I don't usually even bother with comments, let alone comment duels, lol. I figured it was a bot or a paid shit stirrer. :(

Made me think about Angela Lansbury's kids who had "Manson ties" specifically her daughter Deirdre (often called "Didi" or Deidre Shaw) associating with Charles Manson and his followers in the late 1960s, amid the family's struggles with teenage drug use in Malibu, California.

In a 2014 interview with the Daily Mail, Lansbury herself described the situation: Her children, Deirdre (then a teenager) and son Anthony, had become involved in heavy drug use (starting with cannabis and progressing to heroin). Deirdre, in particular, fell in with a group influenced by Manson, whom Lansbury called "an extraordinary character, charismatic in many ways." She noted that Deirdre was "one of many youngsters who knew him—and they were fascinated." Reports indicate Manson and his followers frequented the area, and Deirdre provided financial support to the group (including using her mother's credit cards for purchases), though she never became a full-fledged cult member.

Lansbury's stepson David Shaw later confirmed that Manson would come to their home looking for Deirdre. Alarmed by the drug scene and these dangerous associations (in the hills above Malibu, described as "dedicated to deadly pursuits"), Lansbury and her husband Peter Shaw decided to uproot the family. In 1970–1971, they moved to a rural home in County Cork, Ireland, for a simpler life away from those influences. There, with medical help (including methadone for withdrawal), both children recovered—Anthony quickly, Deirdre more gradually.

This move occurred before the infamous 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders, and Deirdre had distanced herself by then. Lansbury credited the relocation with saving her children, saying she had "no doubt we would have lost one or both" otherwise. The story is corroborated across sources, including biographies and Lansbury's own accounts.

Masha V. Tupitsyn's avatar

Wow, what a story. That's why I said Mkultra (mind control and trauma programming. Drugs are an essential part of this hypnosis). It's all the same story. Strangely, I just rewatched Cukor's Gaslighting (1944) today and Lansbury plays one of the servant girls who is gaslighting Paula (Bergman's character), along with the husband. I assume you have read Chaos and Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon?

patrick tobin's avatar

Thanks for your reply. I have not read Chaos and Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon but will check it out.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Well can we assume from this account about Angela Lansbury’s children way back in the 60’s, that the ‘scene’ in LA being the child in a famous Hollywood/LA family, has evolved to a much more dark and sinister place, some 50 years later. With drugs of a different class. Not just in street drugs, but all the “psychiatric meds” as well. And apparently this young man, Nick Reiner has been under some type of ‘psychiatric care’ since he was a teenager. 😔😢

Michael Framson's avatar

I recently watched a few extended scenes from the musical "Oliver" and read about the tragic life of the very talented Jack Wild, who played The Artful Dodger. Became wealthy at a young age and it went very downhill from there. He died at age 53 from oral cancer likely caused by drinking and smoking.

A.M.'s avatar

Well, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. That's quite tragic.

Positively Paying It Forward's avatar

Makes one immediately wonder what groups/influences son Nick fell into that would result in wanting to end the lives of his parents.

RAY FALCIOLA's avatar

If someone told me and had marginally credible evidence that it was an mkultra deal I’d believe it with the same caution I reserve for all the internet. To me the act really has a Charlie Manson flash back feel to it because I’m thinking NO ONE saw this coming. Plus it is so outrageous. Perhaps insiders who knew the family saw or could imagine it it but the general public that feels they “know” Rob Reiner because he is so famous for his movies and is such a loudmouth. I suspect the general public never could dream of something like this. That is why it reminds me of Manson. Lunatic actions seemingly out of nowhere. And of course being in Hollywood doesn’t hurt the associative memory trigger.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

Out here in CA…a few hours ago a friend got a text from his son in East Texas that Reiner and his wife were murdered. We went online to confirm and yes it was true. Then another friend texted me that the suspect in the murders was their son Nick. I don’t think People would report that if in fact it wasn’t true. So horrible to die at the hands of your own child.

Reiner was a big player in Democrat politics out here in Commifornia and at the National level. Mr. Reiner couldn’t say enough bad things about Trump. He also had a chronic case of TDS. 😔😏

I don't think many are saying bad things about Reiner, but IMO it is a good idea to see when/if the Dems somehow blame this on Trump. If they expire. If we know when/if they expire.

Well apparently the son has had mental illness issues, since he was a teen. And had been given some serious “meds” over the years by psychiatrists, meds that are known to cause psychosis, and further serious mental breakdowns. He also is reported to have had a heroin addiction. The kid didn’t stand a chance, with a father like his and in the clutches of the “modern medical system”, he was doomed.

On seeing the headline in my inbox I fully expected to see something like

Rob Reiner died suddenly....

That story seems real trendy these days. Or perhaps some twist on that story..

Even suicide would have surprised me less than this. HOMICIDE was the very last thing I was expecting (assuming that is the case, sure looks like it)

A REALLY surprising story. I notice Wikipedia ALREADY has updated that his cause of death was murder. Interesting how fast they get stuff updated.

Still, it seems to be a strange exit for a guy like Rob Reiner.

.... I just noticed that it was allegedly the son.

Yikes!!!

Some how that sort of story seems almost as common as the "died suddenly" stories.

In some ways it's not surprising that so many choose not to have kids. Too many SERIOUSLY dysfunctional family stories around. I suspect lots of people know of such things in their immediate family or close circle of friends. Kids "dying suddenly" from clot shots or something or kids SERIOSLY addicted or mentally ill. They want to change their gender, all sorts of things. It gives one pause about the prospect of having children.

What I suspect lots of people know of "too close to home" may not necessarily be the extreme of patricidal/matricidal murder but pretty extreme stuff that most people from a by gone era can't imagine because such things were almost unheard of in their youth. Just like Autism which was also unheard of. Really extreme dysfunction seems to becoming more commonplace. . Kids with drugs, rehab, homelessness, then maybe back with the parents, never becoming independent.

Forget about grand children. Just not having drama is a blessing.

Not the kids and grand kids fantasy many imagine / expected when they took on having a family. No wonder all I see lately is people with dogs and cats. Kids that are off the rails will REALLY recalibrate your outlook.. When you have a drug situation (or similar) going on in a adult kid it must be like living with your very own mkultra resident. You never know how or when they might go off. See enough of that and it is no surprise lots of people say "no thanks" and opt out of having kids. Lot of horror stories out there.

Really sad what happened to them. It illustrates why kids of wealthy families can end up homeless. The families may want to help them but are too afraid to have them loose in their homes.

A while back, I had an actually fun job populating a database called Freebase. It was relational and showed how connected everything can be, perfect for ADHD folks like me. Google bought it and got rid of it. Anyway, one of my tasks was to monitor the news, especially for reports of deaths,, and update the database. Am sure Google has software that constantly monitors the news for things like this. I worked on news, film festivals, golf courses, gluten-free foods, art museums, and NCAA tournaments, to name just a few things. Updating for deaths was something that happened all day, there were shifts of people working on the database. We did have to verify as best we could.

RAY FALCIOLA's avatar

A noisy mind like mine can't help but wonder if they bought the database and killed it to make it hard for the sheep to notice the relationship between things like the clot shots and the sudden spike in all cause mortality.

Places like Google and Facebook and all the other deep state actors really aren't interested in the peeps noticing inconvenient patterns and relationships.

Of course the job was actually fun so that's reason enough for Google to buy and dump it. 😁😁 Yeah I know. I over think stuff. And I don't have ADHD. I have the other thing. Like the exact opposite:) Focusing TOO MUCH on things. I'll call you ying and you can call me yang. The universe is now more balanced.😁😁🤣

djean111's avatar

Ha! If you Google Freebase (I always thought that was an interesting name, my mind went right to the drug=related thing) it seems that Google just wanted the software or whatever, I think. When they first bought it, they started replacing us with folks from the Philippines or whatever who would work for half the salary, problem was they had no innate referential knowledge, hard to explain, but any nuance disappeared, and they did the minimum, whereas folks like me went down rabbit holes. Like spending too much time looking for the poster for a Russian horror film festival and then getting a virus when i triumphantly found it. Not as much stuff on the internet then, I had developed a "three known facts" system that was pretty successful. Because there was such a thing as too granular and then not granular enough. And there you see my ADHD on full display.

Signed, Yin

RAY FALCIOLA's avatar

With a name like Ying I think you're now qualified to get your job back.

Are you ready to work for half pay?

I paid a few dues on a cubicle farm. Those places where they ramp up with H1B's because local workers want need to be paid and things like that. You're right. LOTS of things get lost in the translation. Not always but trying to communicate UI stuff for example can be exhausting dependent on the language and cultural mastery. But god forbid we train and hire locals

I was once an embedded systems programmer. Real time portable instruments. Kind of specialized in the OS. Real time hard deadline stuff. A subspecialty of a subspecialty. You need to be a bit anal about that stuff because missed task deadlines do not go over well when you're instrument monitors high speed real time stuff. The boss does not like to see data loss because your OS thought it was more important to sniff the touch screen or whatever.

I suspect the guys who chose the name Freebase were thinking EXACTLY what you were thinking. Lots of freaks are in the tech business. Some so freaky and anti-social they go to places like FACEBOOK and TikTok to ponder things like "wouldn't it be cool if we could destroy kid's minds and get them to hate their parents?". Or whatever it is they ponder. We hear about all these negative things but we don't often hear about gifted tech geeks saying, "yeah no, I am not going to waste my gifts on destroying the fabric of society". It wasn't the dummy's thinking up and deploying the mkultra projects. It is sobering to acknowledge so few will say "ah, yeah no. I'm not doing that". Just show people money and they're happy to play with their toys never taking stands like "ah, you know what? Maybe mRNA gene altering most of the planet is just a little tiny bit presumptive of us". Takes armies of big brains to create the tech carnage. Dangle a bit of money and no one opts out..

In case I ever want a chance of rejoining the work I once did I'm going to sign off as Yang to increase my chances.

...And we're likely to see more and more of this kind of thing as more of the restraining power of the Holy Spirit of God the Father and Jesus the Messiah (which kept some semblance of "sanity" in the world until today) is withdrawn and increasing numbers of people are taken over by evil more than they already are, snapping and taking others out. We're all sinners, so no one is immune except those filled with the Holy Spirit of God; otherwise, we're all capable of anything, particularly children who weren't truly raised in God's Will through Jesus the Messiah. The children are feeling more like nothing but sex objects that ministers, priests and rabbis want to frack, and feel like they're surrounded with insanity they can't understand, seeing it in those "closest" to them, and in the way(s) the entire Satanic system operates, getting increasingly depraved with each passing day. The kids don't know any proper morals or boundaries; which, if presented to them like God would, they would welcome. They want to know what's right, or at least did before they were corrupted. Now, all they see is more and more evil all around them, and the increasing desire to give in to the evil because they feel nothing is real or worthwhile, only more and more people using them, abusing them, and claiming they care about them.
