On John Magufuli: Death Of An African Freedom Fighter, Patriot, Populist, PCR-Buster, and Martyr

I wrote this piece for Catherine Austin Fitts last week, following the shattering news of John Magufuli’s death. I’ve since come to realize that Magufuli was what Donald Trump seemed to be but wasn’t. I believe Magufuli was the genuine populist patriot leader we pretended to have, the way children can pretend to have a father. He did “drain the swamp,” and he did pay the price, the price that never seems to change.
