Taxonomy: A Clarification Following A Comment By Mark Crispin Miller, Which Mischaracterized Me As Blighting Some Of Our Best Warriors
The list is long, I was only referring to publicly known (before Covid) leftists in MCM's and Chomsky's category
Here is the exchange. Am I in a mad mood? Yes. I’ve been in a bad mood since 1988. That was the year my first Q&A with Peter Duesberg was published, the interview was done the year he published his first broadside against HIV theory in Cancer Research.
Since then, I’ve been sliding backwards down a steep mud hill set on fire by the pieties and vicious attacks of a protected species known as AIDS activists, whom almost everybody believed and favored.
Giving people who did speak out when it was dangerous to do so their due is very important to me. So I must object to what Mark wrote, by way of correction. I don’t know if any of you experience this but I feel nothing I say is understood as I meant it. Not exactly “nothing,” but almost nothing.
I named four public left intellectuals who stood up to the Covid Beast. The taxonomy was carefully considered. Here is the exchange:
Writes News from Underground by Mark C…
Thanks so much for this post, Celia. Let's hope it helps.
Meanwhile: Aside from C.J. Hopkins, as Drats_or_Grats notes here, there's also Mickey Z, Del Bigtree. Meryl Nass, Jennifer Bilek, Janet Phelan, Sam Husseini—and, of course, RFK, Jr.; and there are surely others I'm forgetting at the moment. In short, the remnant of the non-Covidian left is considerably bigger than just Naomi Wolf and me. (Also, Matt Taibbi has now, finally, come around, conceding, in his recent interview with C.J., that he missed the boat on COVID.)

Mark: Del Bigtree is not a leftist public intellectual. Mickey Z I often praise as I love his work but he is a writer, not a public leftist intellectual. Meryl Nass is an MD. (And Covid valiant dissident.) Jennifer Bilek is a terrific journalist. RFK Jr is a fantastic attorney and activist, and political candidate, who I praise often, but can never praise enough. And so on.
You did not read me accurately. If this was a roll call for people who have been outstanding on all this there would be over 100 on the list, maybe more than 200.
No. It was left public figure intellectuals. That was the category. If you come up with more people in that category, I will add them. The category was not “leftists” who can see through Covid lies. It was public intellectuals. However, admittedly, I muddled it. I made a mistake. I added commentary about Taibbi and Greenwald, two journalists. So perhaps the whole post should be re-written, or edited to reflect one category or the other.
The original version had a whole section on Jordan Peterson.
I was very annoyed by his conversation with Naomi Wolf in which he posits that the liberal/left used to be much better about contagion than the “right.” She agreed!
This is absolutely not true. Who published Duesberg? Regnery. Who founded The Group For The Scientific Reappraisal of the HIV/AIDS Hypothesis? Charles Thomas, conservative. Who attacked Duesberg FIRST? The Village Voice. Who attacked me first after Harper’s, 2006? The Nation.
I’m turning into a crank because the history is all wrong, obscured, ignored altogether. How can I not become a crank?
All of a sudden, I’m showing the strain. I can’t come up with the stamina to always correct all distortion after so many years of more distortion than I have hours or mental stamina.
I’m a cranky crank now.
Celia:I understood your post and I think Mark did too. People are hard to define now. I’m on the same journey. 4 years ago, would’ve never read you or Mark or Bobby Jr. I was the poster boy for ultra conservative. Then they started trying to kill us, Trump included. New alliances are forming. They want to use the old left/right divide...let’s not let them
I started questioning the left, after growing up a union baby, during the 90's when my wife covered Duesberg & we joined a local SF organization called Heal SF which also was critical of vaxxes. Some fellow members were libertarians and even a couple of Republicans. Fast forward to 2014/2015, & the Dems, headed by Ricard Pan here in CA, were in full vax tyranny mode. Can't say I didn't see it coming.
