I have chickens but am new to them. Brain the size of a small walnut, I didn't have any expectations. They are amazing. They recognize everyone, tease the dog, nestle with me. They’re pretty great.

Made me too..... first time I saw it, and still does. Life is so precious. So many do not notice. I love the critter videos. They help keep people observant and appreciative. At least that's how it seems to me.

it's sad to see any bird or insect or any creature die, and we try to prevent it, but to watch up close the final hours of a sweet little bee, is heartrending.

Yes, yet it was so sweet how the woman was so caring towards it. So many similar types of things go unnoticed. This bee was so fortunate. 🥰

A joke that I read the other day: "People who take care of chickens are literally chicken tenders."

:: hmmm, hhhmmmmmm, yummy chicken tenders ::

We imagine we are different/superior and I think thats come from the anthropocentric nature of the Mediterannean religious cults. The “God made us in His image” conceit coupled with the “Earth is our oyster to shuck and discard at our whimsy” fantasy. I am amazed by other animals every day and many of them are humans.. years ago when I was in Catholic grade school the nun teaching the Class said “You cannot love an animal because it cant love you back!” I raised my hand and said “I love my dog and she loves me back” and then I said “That sounds like something someone would say who never had a dog.” It shut her up.

Tich Nhat Hanh said (paraphrasing) It's easy to love an animal, humans are harder to love because we talk back. I disagree that desert cults are the only source of disdain for the suffering of animals, every human culture exploits animals, whether or not they do it out of the conceit of superiority.

Why is it so many catholics or ex catholics atheistic & seemingly hostile to biblical ideas? I haven't noticed this with any other religious groups, Christian or otherwise.

Personally I am not religious nor anti religious. Just an observation

Are these ex catholic peoples views are amplified & other ex religious peoples similar views are not?

Beauty is all around us if we care to look.

For those who thinks this is playing with your food Ill say this ; Am gona be worm food for sure, who knows i might be eaten by a space whale. Time run out eventually but Karma catch up to us; if you treat life like garbage , you are taking in garbage. Kindness and respect come back to us.

What i know for sure we (human) have a GloboHomo predator problem this is the true immorality.

I refuse to be lunch to a few social climber. This is a pressing concern for us all.

Ahhh I’m in love with you Celia. Your writing has touch my soul. I can’t say I love my chicken but my son absolutely does. They free range around my place keeping the big population down while naturally fertilizing everything. I don’t clean the chicken coop, I harvest fertilizer. And the 3-6 eggs we get each day are tremendous. Maybe you can love a chicken.

Thanks for sharing. Chickens are such interesting birds. In Jamaica, I got to observe free range chickens everywhere......not owned by anyone. Little chicken families here and there.
