Oh, such nostalgia to hear someone else say that if you can count your friends on one hand, you're lucky. My mother told me that a thousand years ago, and I've always remembered it. When she told me I, of course, kinda sorta didn't really believe it. Really?
What my mother 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒕 was that "at the end of the day" if you actually had that many true friends -- five -- you were lucky.
Of course, as I sit here at my "advanced" age with fewer true friends than fingers on one hand, I say to myself, "Right again, Mom."
There’s nothing like the loyalty, companionship, and comfort our ‘animal friends’ provide for us. I had 16 years of such with my Australian Cattle Dog Roxy. When she passed almost two years ago, the day I brought home her ashes, a Tuxedo cat appeared in my backyard. He was being ‘cat sat’ by a neighbor but she was allergic to cats so I took over and said he could stay with me. Needless to say he’s now my crazy Bubby the Tuxedo Cat! I feel Roxy ‘sent’ him to me...as I was missing the companionship of an animal, to love on and take care of, but wasn’t ready to have another dog. I’m still not ready for another dog...Bubby satisfies my animal needs for now.
Molly, my kitty, follows me everywhere. She is the only cat allowed into my den and loves going there with me. I recently was away for three months and, after checking the den one time and determining that I was not there, she never tried to go in the whole time I was gone. When I came back she was as cuddly as any cat I had ever seen and immediately went to the door of the den for me to take her in there.
She is a very smart kitty. I bet she could be in Kitty Mensa, but I will never find out. I am against animal testing.
This filled me with joy. Today my 82 year old mom and 87 year old boyfriend are adopting a cat from the shelter. We’re so excited! My husband and I promise to be backup if ever needed. (I’m still mourning her last cat, my dear friend Baby Bella. She would stay with us during the summer when my mom was up north She and I had wonderful conversations at a time when I wasn’t getting along with my human family . Precious Bella! )
Animals make us better humans.🐾
What a beautiful little slice of humanity, the very thing we don’t want to lose with all the insanity out there. So much hope in this post. Thanks!

What a sweet read to start the day. Frances and Rasta have captured my heart. Looking forward to reading her autobiography. Thank you Celia.
Wow!
What a wonderful story!
My wife and I have 3 dogs.
She walks them daily, I cook for them.
Ages are 1, 3, & 16.
The pup is a gorgeous brindle colored half-breed rescue from Georgia...
Sweetest dog you will ever meet, and makes new friends every day!
He is absolutely stuck to my wife, and seeks comfort from me should she go away for a day or two...
They complete us...
some days are like a walk in the park, some days are a bit more difficult. thanks for the walk in the park.
