I searched high and low for the perfect Advent video for what is now yesterday, Dec. 9, and something was every so slightly wrong with all 100 plus videos I watched, mostly in the realm of ballet. Bolshoi. Then it turned into folk dance videos from all corners of the world, Palestinian, Georgian, Celtic, Hungarian….
Then I was going to post videos of Ann Reinking.
Does anybody here have obsessive compulsive syndrome? It’s when you hyper-focus on something and can’t let go, like a loss of super-command.
Got to be 1:30 am and I decided on something tried and true that has the advantage of that I’ve watched it and listened to it very carefully many times. I love the song, the musicianship, the spirit, the dancing, and above all, I love the snare drum.
We were a dancing people, always, Americans. And we will be again.
OCD?... I suggest that, unlike my kids 25 and 29 who know theres something wrong but avoid admitting it, and generate excuses for what they know to be wrong ( Denial is one diagnosis you could make), the application of a label for your dedicated behaviour is a typical human trait. Let’s say you’ve fallen into a deep hole, your life expectancy plummeted. Your obsession with escaping is severe. 24/7. Constant. You sleep, if at all, from sheer exhaustion. Until you solve the conundrum.
Its OCD-like, of course. Our current predicament in north america, that is, if you care about the present and future, is much like being trapped below ground level.
Let’s be careful to forgive those who care so much they become obsessed. It sure beats apathy. Then one can apply principles of balance, and avoid letting TPTB ruin one’s life. Avoid letting them win. Starting now.
Remember why you care so much. What timeless beautiful principles fuel you into the night. You care. Why? It came from somewhere. And in that timeless divine source you will find the kind of peace the evil globalists and their mindlessly converted are desperately jealous of.
Remember too that what happens here on terra firma , in this material world, devoid as it is of true meaning, simply doesn’t matter in the universal scheme of things. The Big Picture. This you know; just remind yourself, take a walk and look at the December clouds. Its sunny above them. Always. 🙏🏽
The one activity my wife and I had over the last three years that kept us. "sane, in shape, down regulated our nervous systems," was looking for a weekly dance. If not available, we would take our boom box down to the promenade and salsa on the pavement. When we finally moved in September to retire on Vancouver Island, as we walked in our quaint new village, we were stopped occasionally on the street by people who greeted us, saying: "You guys are the dancers." Life is worthwhile if you dance.
