Most people don't know the truth of their own history whoever they are, sadly. History is a pack of lies, written by the winners.

When my mother and I visited Kaliningrad Oblast, formally German East Prussia, our Russian guide, born there, told me that in USSR schools they were taught that before 1945 there was absolutely nothing there and history only began then. How they perceived the towns and abandoned old churches as being nothing is a conundrum.

"The past was erased. The erasure was forgotten. The lie became the truth," George Orwell, "1984."

It's an old, old playbook.

Hard to believe the story, since Koenigsberg first fell to Russia in 1758: "Впервые под власть России город попал в 1758 году, после Семилетней войны ..." https://dzen.ru/a/XcU3LgzlewCvSwf0

A prized possession as a result of WW2 - what´s to hide? It would have also been very difficult to eradicate from history where Kant was born. Marxism-leninism was keen on philosophy and its history.

I visited his statue. But lies can become truth if you say words loud and often enough, safe and effective, for example! She was about 40 yrs, born around 1972, graduate and worked in cultural activities too! I probably should have added this was told to them by teachers when young and maybe they missed out the bit when Germany took it back?

There may have been some misunderstanding - perhaps they were told at school there had been little left of the city in 1945? I suspect we will not be able to crack this riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. After all, it is of little import. (Just that nagging feeling when something does not fit ...)

My mother's house had gone, not in Kaliningrad, up near border with Lithuania. It was a mistake of mine to take my mother back. Most places up there were like ghost towns, lots of war damage and 75 years of neglect. The odd person we encountered looked thoroughly miserable.

They don't know their own history because they are mostly not ethnic Jews. Most Israeli citizens today are descendants of immigrants from Russia, Northern and Eastern Europe.

And THAT is a big rabbit hole, and a very interesting one at that!

The Holocaust, at the Heart of the Gaza Genocide

Since the establishment of a Zionist home in Palestine in the early 20th century, Jewish settlers have massacred tens of thousands of Palestinians – mainly women, children and the elderly – whose lands and homes they have plundered and robbed with impunity.[1][2][3]

Never in the history of mankind has a race of people gone so quickly from being exceptional victims to exceptional murderers determined to exterminate the Palestinians under the pretext of recreating their homeland, the biblical Israel.

But Palestine was never the homeland of the Jews. Biblical accounts are not supported by historical or archaeological discoveries.[4] “It’s a romantic fantasy,”[5] admits Jewish historian Norman F. Cantor in his book on Jewish history, The Sacred Chain. “The whole notion of Israel and its history is a literary fiction,” says Professor Thomas Thompson in his book The Mythic Past: Biblical Archeology and the Myth of Israel. https://www.unz.com/article/the-holocaust-at-the-heart-of-the-gaza-genocide/

The Tantura massacre took place on the night of 22–23 May 1948 during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Around 40–200 Palestinian Arab villagers from Tantura were massacred by the Alexandroni Brigade, which was part of what became the Israeli Defense Force. The massacre occurred following Tantura's surrender, a village of roughly 1,500 people in 1945 located near Haifa. The victims were buried in a mass grave, which today serves as a car park for the nearby Tel Dor beach.

Watch out for "false gods" and "false teachers", Amigo.

"God Is Love." That is the test.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged, for with whatsoever judgement ye mete out, so shall it be meted out to you."

I am at none of the risks you list.

Jesus guided me to Buddhism, which is a living path to spiritual self-work.

I never rejected the teachings, love or guidance of Jesus, but his teachings were obscured by Rome and what followed.

Jesus was crucified as a "troublemaker", the only crime for which crucifixion was meted out. He drove the money changers from the temple with a whip. that was "trouble".

Jesus advocated for "jubilee", the "good news" over which wars had been recently fought in Greece and Egypt. Rome did not want "jubilee" to return.

1) "No man is justified by the law."

2) "God Is Love"

This is simpler, yet deeper than scholarship.

Pray earnestly for the Guidance of the God of Love, accept it, and be guided.

You are "made in the likeness of God", the spiritual likeness which can know God and know to "love thy neighbor as thyself."

Jesus sought to teach people to "Know the Father", which is to know Love.

He told the Apostles to "Love each other as I have loved you". He called them to love each other with the same love he had demonstrated to their hearts.

That is what Jesus taught, Love. As to "judgement" he "judged", "Forgive them , Father, for they know not what they do."

I felt as though the Love and guidance I have always known as Jesus did guide me, after a long search for the original teachings of Jesus, to a Tibetan Buddhist Lama who came to give a long series of teachings. You can know the works of the spirit directly.

There are different religions, none of which can be Truth. Truth must be known through spiritual endeavor, the longing and searching for Truth, which is not words.

You can do it.

The first priority of building the foundation of a nation, is to collectivize its inhabitants by a myth. They get excited, energized and feel justified to perform whatever behavior is needed to expand the foundation. They sacrifice what individual, separate identity and conscience they had and replace it with madness! No wonder history is made into a Halloween event because the villains can dress up as heroes.

I am so glad you posted this Journeyman film by Alon Schwartz! Thank you, Celia. . . The tears just won't stop.

You know, much as I admire his courage in making the film, I was struck by how fiercely he asserts the necessity of a TWO-state solution, calling for a Palestinian state while also insisting that Israel (with clearly defined borders) must remain a Jewish state. The implication being that it's the only place Jews can feel safe, which seems both untrue and rather defeatist. I wish he'd consider what it might look like to have one multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-lingual state where the deep wounds of the past can heal and the people's basic humanity can prevail over the malicious agenda of elites to keep them divided.
