A long time ago, I was friends with a woman in the Navy. She had been in the "watch" the day the flight went down - the 24 hour watch room that coordinates all crisis information for naval intelligence. She made it very clear to me: a man had come running into the watch a few minutes after the plane went down and he said, "we shot it down! we shot it down" or thereabouts. My friend explained she believed that a submarine off the coast of long island had accidentally shot it with a missile but the story was to be silenced by the government and the mainstream press ever since. Glad to see your friend got the story out.
I didn't know then the person behind the reporting of eyewitness testimony of a missile shooting down TWA 800. I do now. I knew then that the government would seek to change minds and wipe away evidence of the event. You can't darken the eyes of so many witnesses. I knew.
Thank you for a beautiful tribute to an amazing woman and reporter. I was also touched by your oh-so-honest vulnerability of your own failings in your relationship with her. I'm sure she treasured your friendship and support nonetheless.

I remember the flight being downed. I do not remember when I heard about the Submarine shooting a missile at it but it was within a very short time after the event. Thank you for the Article. I prayed for her family as you asked. The Truth will outlast every one and every thing and in the end it will be known by all whether to their eternal gratitude or to their eternal horror.

I may be the only one alive who may remember this but the pieces and parts were sent to a forensic aviation engineer in Hawthrone and a local station, such as KTLA, ran a story (only once) when this chap was ready to announce his findings, which he never did. He showed on camera where he believed a missile had hit the wing near an engine. The story vanished after that, the engineer may have vanished as well.
I remember reading her account of the TWA 800 incident in her collection called Into The Buzzsaw, which should be required reading for all journalism students.
I will honor her story with my life's work. That work has gotten me ostracized by very close people to me. I didn't agree with the given narrative and my life was changed from that day forth. No matter how much we suffer in life the truth is a virtue I will always suffer for.
It's called "VALOR" and I respect and honor all dissenting brave people who speak up against evil.

You have given me an opportunity to get to know Kristina's work a little better, and to appreciate you- and your journey as well. I have an aviation background, my father is ex Air Force and spent majority of his civilian career as a pilot for TWA. Kristina's was helped to bring to light what everyone in the aviation community was uncomfortable confronting - compelling evidence that our government was willfully engaged in blatant deception and willful coverup of a catastrophic air disaster. Cognitive dissonance is a thing.

I remember sitting across from Marcel Dadi in his Paris music store.
I had taken him some tunes I had arranged for classical guitar.
They were not ready for prime time. He looked at them and made a couple suggestions.
He told me the introduction in French was totally incomprehensible.
I now know he was being way too kind.
Dadi was known in the States as the French Chet Atkins but he was very unique, a great guitar player.
He died on that flight home to Paris. I think about that day in his shop every time I hear TWA 800.
