Sting said Eva's version was better than his. I agree.

Leaving youth, a man's ear is only half cocked toward the music of the day, the usual sentiment being that it was better when he was young.

Which it was – with exceptions. This is one of those beautiful exceptions that I loved hearing even though I didn't know who was singing it. Now I do. Thank you, for the information in the beautiful song.

Thanks Ceilia, for a Sting song other than “Russians”, which I subjected myself to perhaps too many times during the winter that has just passed. 😉

Thank you angelic lady of letters for stirring up fond memories of another angelic lady's voice, who left us all but far too early ...

What a beautiful rendition of this song. So fitting that you posted it today, as tomorrow is the 4 year anniversary of my dear husband’s death. He was a huge Sting fan. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you for this. Eva Cassidy was an enchanting singer who left us far too early. But during her brief sojourn on this mortal coil her flame burned ever so brightly.

God bless you, Celia. You are a wonderful angel of light shining so brightly in the darkness, blessing so many. I think and pray for you every time I get your posts. I worry about you sometimes; I know it's been so hard. Please keep the faith and keep fighting the good fight, running the race to the end. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
