Thanks for sharing, Celia. You have touched on one of the great virtues of traditional music; its ability to provide a sense of continuity. Paul Robeson understood this, and the continuing popularity of his many recitals of traditional songs is a testament to the very human need for a connection with tradition.

Celia,

This is joyful and soul-lifting indeed. I still prefer the Gregorian chanting you recommended a while back. I play it mostly on Sundays as it reminds me of the Greek Orthodox Church of my youth. Thank you for sharing your mind and your soul with all of us.

Thank you. It has much in common with traditional Irish music which I played during my school years in the seventies. I could even play along with it on first hearing without knowing the tune. It drew tears. Míle buíochas, Fiachra.

Woman, where do you find this stuff ?!

This band got it's hooks in me 30 years ago. They serve up their share of melancholy. Such is Gaelic music. But much of it is uplifting and danceable too. And just as important, not all of it is about unrequited love. This one is about . . . . . kelp . . . . . everyone's favorite. Or is it?
