I don’t know about Elohim, but last year I had a very similar epiphany, having to do with the story of Abraham and Isaac. Here is what I wrote:
A revelation came to me when I reflected back on that deeply troubling moment in the OT (Genesis 22) when Abraham, following the command of his Lord, proceeds to go forth and prepare for the sacrifice his young son, Isaac.
For anyone — Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, or anything in between — this is deeply troubling, a Sophie’s choice, if you will. At the moment of this personal revelation, I transported myself into a child's fear, of little Isaac being strapped by his father onto a bundle of kindling. Then one night, in the middle of the night, I could literally feel little Isaac's terror -- the adrenochrome coursing through his little body -- as he tried to make sense of this terrifying and confusing moment, how one of the two people he most trusted in the world could do this to him.
Of course we are then told that “the Lord” called this off at the last moment.
Alas, this was only a test, a test to find out if Abraham was indeed willing to perform the ultimate sacrifice, slaughtering his child, to remain in favor with the Lord. Having proven his willingness to perform this ultimate sacrifice, the Lord relieved him of this unimaginable and demonic “choice” and test. Isaac survived (albeit likely traumatized for the remainder of his earthly existence).

I see in this moment of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his only son as a moment, and a fracture, within the "chosen" people. Too many times, 'his people' kept sinning against Him. I'm positive that Randy Fine is misquoting Tucker Carlson's call for DNA testing. It would be to prove any lack of semitic ancestry, or ancestral connections to the land and region of Palestine. That can't prove or disprove whether you're Jewish - that's a religious question, not one of phenotype. The fact remains the vast majority of Ashkenazi Jews have no ancestral connection to the land of Palestine. The same cannot be said of the Palestinians - many of whom are Christians or Bahais still.
