That’s strange. English is spoken everywhere. It is a language that crosses boundaries, unites outlooks, merges differences, and offers bridges across all forms of gaps. It is being actively co-created by most of the 8 billion users of speech. Consequently, it may be seen as the most creative form of communication all over the world.

And we can’t properly name simple sentences? Really? Do we really need to reach to ancient cultures, steal their words, destroy their original meanings, contaminate their context, twist their interpretations?

It is pure doublespeak in action, you can see it live. In fact, YOU are the creator of this doublespeak. You - meaning every one of us who flows with this stream.

Maybe we are afraid to call things what they really are? We prefer advertising to propaganda, or “not really true” to “obvious lie”. “Public relations” sounds safer than “Department of Truth”. “Expert opinion” is certainly more effective than “subjective view paid by the sponsor”. “Professional” is better than “authoritarian”. “Politically correct” is much better than “adjusted to expectations beyond the recognition of the true meaning”.

We actively participate in this game. Does it matter? Not really. In a short time, we won’t worry about meanings. Safe or effective, nobody will know what it means, because we will all readily recognize it: “Oh, yes, our mantra”.

I love this comment.

I now begin conversations by clarifying terms first. English has been eroded purposefully over the years, obviously to cause confusion. How can one word have multiple and/or opposing meanings except to cause chaos?

Black magic indeed 🙄

Why “black”? Why are we programmed to associate black with something “unwanted”? Whereas (legitimate) business loves black suits, black cars, black business cards, and stating everything black on white.

“Confusion” presumes adversity. I am more inclined to think in terms of layering knowledge and skills and putting them in a certain order, progressing from initial (primary) to advanced up to the mastery. Different terms for different levels of understanding and capacity to handle the phenomenon.

I agree with most of what you say Dan, apart from the final paragraph: "Does it matter? Not really...."

It does matter. If language is our symbiont, as some schools of linguistics have pointed out, then words live in symbiotic relationship with humans. We create "doublespeak" as soon as we appropriate ancient sacred words ~ such as 'mantra' ~ and use them in a careless superficial way, not realising their power.

Oh, I forgot to add a disclaimer. Disc-laimer. Disc = unformatted, laimer = an area of natural weakness in the upper esophagus (Laimer’s Triangle). I have no idea what it means, but it sounds serious and fits the doublespeak creation narrative. I hope we’ll soon see a number of substack articles on its epidemiology. That it has no sense? So what?

It also doesn’t matter. Because 1) there are no supervising entities (organisations) that would attend to the purity of language and communication, b) artificial migrations will dissolve the natural homogeneity of the language. The process is scaled up so much that soon nobody will have control over it. We will accept kapisch, baba yaga, manana in daily conversations as easily as we did for lol, ok, fyi. IMHO.

I've been seriously engaged, in one way or another, with these issues for about forty years & your choice of sources, your instinct for the real, is incredibly accurate. I would suggest that readers familiarize themselves, also, with some of the on-the-ground journalists in Gaza, many of whom have seen their families targeted & killed (in addition to about 80+ and counting, journalists, photographers, cameramen etc. who have been killed). Rarely will you see such dignity & courage as these journalists are often called upon to report on the deaths of their own families. Thank you again for your cogent & direct presentation.

People need to get beyond hurling imprecations and the justifying of committing atrocity after atrocity first by one side then the other. The resulting growth of chaos only foments more hatred and anger. And In so doing, we play directly into the hands of the Globalist tyrants and their stooges who use that to consolidate control.

Lets keep the dialogue going and while abiding by moral and Godly principles, take a stand for Truth.

Rather than standing for peace, it sounds like you might be one of those individuals who advocate for the elimination of one side for the benefit of the other.

And I would not be surprised if the side you advocate for is Palestinian terrorism and Islamic radicalism, and if you stand for the elimination of Israel, that is to say genocide "from the river to the sea".

Everyone on this blog is indeed revealing their true colors. Virulent antisemitism is a beast that rears its ugly head periodically and never goes away...which is why Israel was founded in the first place, and must and will remain.

The irony is that the political left and right cannot agree on anything but one: hating Israel. Both marxists and fascists hate Israel equally...which shows how much they actually have in common, being both totalitarian and authoritarian ideologies.

Here's another one that is making the rounds in all the warring camps: "IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE CONTEXT"

Thanks to this one, what is apparently horrendous and an abject abomination for others to be doing is perfectly fine for me and the side I support to do, and even DOUBLE DOWN and DO.

This popular slogan or mantra would apply a new layer of whitewash and face paint over the scuffed and timeworn facade of SITUATIONAL ETHICS, disguised now as SOCIAL JUSTICE. It serves to provide the seemingly perfect excuse to justify one's own hatred and violence all the while virtue signalling as all parties unthinkingly work to spread this evil. Multiply this by multitudes repeating it, refusing to repent, and you have a recipe for ever escalating conflict and chaos.

Just an additional thought.

I don't think the sentences you mentioned are exactly mantras. I'd rather say they might be banners, slogans, whatever, but not mantras. Insisting that the zionist government has the right to defense, is a slogan designed to forget that all nations and peoples have the right to defend themselves, even more so if that nation has been invaded and occupied for 70 years. "From the river to the sea" is a cry for building up of a nation not dispersed in a variety of walled ghettos. That is, a viable nation-state.

JOSE. Investigate the actual history of the region. Its a bit more complex than you think.

Also, the territory of Golan Heights, West Bank, Sinai, Gaza plus the Old City of Jerusalem captured by israel during the 6 day war in 1967 wouldn't have been taken over by Israel if the Arab Nations surrounding Israel hadnt amassed armies and weaponry all around every inch of border, threatening to drive her into the sea. Which was a credible threat especially since the UN so called "peacekeeping force" strategically withdrew, deciding to let the Arab armies have their way with Israel.

So she pushed outwards and fought her fight for survival on Arab lands. (She later wound up giving Sinai peninsula back to Egypt as part of viable peace talks.)

It is what objectively happens in war. It is never a permanent solution and brings trouble in its wake, with spreading evil: Like it or not, it starts in the hearts of the individuals of both sides. Each side demonizing the other, escalating and justifying the evil

Yes!

"never a permanent solution", because there are NO solutions in fiddling around with symptoms and effects, which will always be IN-EFFECT-IVE.

War is a symptom!

"It starts in the hearts of the individuals", because EVERY "issue/problem" is a HUMAN issue/problem... NOT a problem of systems... religious, governmental or otherwise...

This may be of interest:

The Origins of War in Child Abuse:

https://psychohistory.com/books/the-origins-of-war-in-child-abuse/

As it happens, both Jews and Muslims... as well as Americans... and some other people as well in other parts of the world... routinely practice child abuse in the form of genital mutilation.

"One area of the CIA’s research that is rarely talked about, or even known, is male circumcision or genital mutilation.

Cansever describes a study of the psychology of boys circumcised between the ages of 4 and 7 both before and after the surgery, based on various methods of psychological examination, and reports the following trends among the subjects:

• lower IQ as measured 7 days after the operation

• infantile regression of drawings and expressed wishes

• greater measured levels of aggression

• new fears and anxieties

• weaker control over primitive impulses to the point of maladaption

• greater aggression towards their mothers

• withdrawal from human relationships and difficulty responding to demands of external world

• perceptions of having been castrated

It turns out that in 1961, the CIA had payed “Cansever” to study the effects of circumcision, and he found that it made boys dumber, more infantile, more fearful, and more aggressive, with less control over their base instincts and a healthy dose of aggression towards the most significant female figure in their lives, their mothers.

If the findings of this study hold true for boys circumcised younger, it might suggest that the United States contains some 100+ million men who have been psychologically altered, from as early as infancy, to be stupider, to have lower impulse control, to tend towards aggression and violence, and to possess an instinctual distrust of women.

Throw in the diminishing effects of circumcision on penile sensitivity and the consequent difficulties of sex and tendency towards paraphilias, and a picture begins to emerge of an organic golem that can be manipulated more easily by carrots and is less able to establish a normal, healthy relationship with a woman—splitting the family apart or preventing its formation has always been a goal of oppressive regimes, including the one that currently rules over the US.

Unfortunately for many of us, there exists, at this point, ample evidence that events in infancy can and do have measurable effects on the hindbrain, the part of our brain that drives instinctual, “gut” reactions and behavior. This is especially true when it comes to traumatic events that trigger stress hormones such as partial amputation of the penis, routinely performed at birth in this country.

Although humans are cognizant of their lives, making behaviorism a dead area of psychology, it is still understood that instinctual behavior plays a role in decision-making, which is why propaganda and advertising are so widespread. How attached will men be to their women if they are surgically predisposed more to masturbate to pornography than to enjoy normal, PIV sex? Is it really a stretch to claim that enjoyment of sex is determined, in part, by the existing or removed enervation of the sex organ involved, and that this might have an effect on the interpersonal relationships of men and women across the country?

It is also worth noting that, according to Leonard Glick in Marked in Your Flesh, circumcision of gentiles is twice used in the Old Testament as a means of disfiguring humiliation and domination by Israelites, and it may still be interpreted as such by a certain religiously-minded tribe. I am not a mind-reader, and intelligent minds can differ on the motivations of various groups that encourage circumcision in the United States, but the historical context of mass, non-consensual circumcision of gentiles may be a clue as to what is going on here."

Extremely interesting comment, thank you for this, and for having the courage to bring it up, as male circumcision is one of the abusive practices no one can question without being instantly attacked by both science and religion proponents.

I always had an intuitive feeling about this...about the traumatic effects of circumcision (to which I was fortunately not subjected, my parents being non-religious even though I have direct Jewish ancestry).

How could anyone think that cutting off an infant or young child's part (any part but especially in a highly sensitive area) would not be very traumatic?

The complete lack of fundamental sensitivity in parents (who authorize it), in the medical profession (who recommends it and aggressively pushes for it), and in religious authorities (who perform it as an ancient form of covenant between the people and God) is absolutely flabbergasting.

It is truly as if these people had no idea they were performing a barbarous act, a terribly abusive and psychologically and emotionally very injurious act - a young child is at the complete mercy of its parents and meant to be protected against harm, not betrayed and butchered - as if they did not feel anything themselves, as they were zombified...or completely neurotic, unable to feel, to have any sensitivity.

But then again, we live in a world where "experts" tell parents (clueless, unfeeling parents) that they should let their toddler cry itself to sleep, because actually tending to a child's need - a need for touch, for reassurance, to be held - would be "spoiling" it!

We also live in a world where late term abortion, the systematic dismembering and tearing apart, bit by bit, of a conscious, sentient and feeling unborn infant, is said to be a "woman's right"...could there be a more horrible, monstrous form of betrayal? Is a mother's womb not meant to be the safest place there could ever be in the entire world for the unborn?

The world is where it is precisely because the vast majority of the world population - men and women alike - feels very little and is greatly lacking any kind of sensitivity. As a matter of fact it is so much so that truly sensitive human beings usually do not make it in this world, as they are truly as lambs among wolves (or among machines...many people already function like machines indeed...becoming cyborgs will be the next logical step for many!).

As far as the CIA being involved, this is strange. But I personally do not need a "study" from any "experts" to figure out the effects of trauma and betrayal on a helpless and trusting infant or a child. It is glaringly obvious to anyone who actually feels.

One thing that immediately comes to mind though, is that FUNDING of a study very often influences the FINDINGS of said study. IOW, "he who pays the piper calls the tune" the CIA. Why did they want that study?

Expand full comment

They were studying mind control.

I don't know if you're aware that in the USA to this day approximately 3000 newborn boys are mutilated EVERY DAY...

The practice is relentlessly promoted and pushed by hospital staff immediately following birth when new mothers are particularly vulnerable... some are under the influence of drugs, when they are presented with the "consent" form.

As far as I can tell, it's ALL part of population CONTROL.

Aside from the CIA MIND CONTROL experiments, there is much evidence pointing to the profound impact and psychological trauma that genital mutilation entails ... it IS a physical ASSAULT on a completely helpless child...

Personally, I don't require ANY studies to KNOW that assaulting infants and children in this way has VAST and LASTING consequences.

Another thing I’ve noticed in San Diego since “COVID”—along with an unnaturally high influx of Chinese and Indian “immigrants” and bio-tech buildings—is an unnaturally high number of “immigrants” from Israel. Yesterday, when I was out and about, I encountered two different groups of Israeli “immigrants” with “F*ck Hamas” stickers prominently displayed on their cars. I also saw multiple Star of David flags hanging from people’s homes. I believe all of these people to be well-intentioned, but I do not think they see a deeper hidden agenda that is being played out here. The endless flag flying is ridiculous to me. First it’s the Trump flags, then the BLM flags, then the rainbow and trans flags, then the Ukraine flags, now it’s the Star of David flags. The American flag—which I admittedly have always had mixed feelings about because I believe in something higher—has been removed to a scapegoat of contempt. I really feel like America has been taken down by the globalists since “COVID.” I feel like they have imported all of these recent “immigrants” fulfill their coercion agenda if enough of who have been here since the founding decide to really challenge these monsters. I do believe what they are doing in Palestine is what they have planned for us—genocide while labeling those of us who oppose them as “terrorists” and “evil.”

very good points and questions, Celia. Thank you. 🙏

'Mantras' like that are frightening because they are powerful. In its original sense, the Sanskrit term 'mantra' is a 'mental tool' ~ an 'instrument of human consciousness to invoke divine consciousness' with a specific aim or intention. Even though the contemporary use and definition of the word has changed, and although contemporary speakers of the word are (usually/often) unaware of this, the modern English descendant of the ancient Vedic ancestor still carries the original strain of its 'verbal genetic code' so to speak.

Especially when modern 'mantras' go viral (like in the examples you mention) they invoke 'groupthink'. They generate an energy wave (or tsunami) which can be hard to hold back or control. The 'mantra-wave' develops a life of its own.

In my understanding, it's that power which makes them scary ~ and rightly so, imho.

At the White House Hanukkah party, Biden said: “Were there no Israel, there wouldn’t be a Jew in the world that is safe,” as he reaffirmed support for Israel’s assault on the Palestinians in Gaza.

I first noticed the formulation by Biden in the month before Oct. 7. On Sept. 20, Biden said to Netanyahu: "I think that without Israel, there’s not a Jew in the world who’s secure. I think Israel is essential."

Biden also made related statements when he went to Israel, quoting alleged statements Golda Meir said to him of Jews in Israel: “We have a secret weapon here in Israel. … We have no place else to go.”

He said it again around the same time in the US: “Were there no Israel, no Jew in the world would be ultimately safe,” Biden said. “It’s the only ultimate guarantee?

How about these other very popular mantras:

"Israel is an apartheid state."

"Gaza is an open air prison."

"Free Palestine, end the occupation."

"When people are occupied resistance is justified" (a current mantra whose actual meaning is: terrorism is justified).

The fact that the official PLO slogan (its origin is the PLO, not a globalist snake) "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free", which literally means the mass genocide of Israelis - a literal ethnic cleansing - and the replacement of the democratic state of Israel by an oppressive Palestinian Islamic state, does not scare or chock you, but that the utterance of a single Rabbi, “Gaza is going to be clean once and for all" frightens you, speaks volumes about you.

When Palestinians and their leftist supporters, who are many and very vocal, advocate for the literal ethnic cleansing of Israel, what do we hear? Crickets or enthusiastic applause from so-called objective observers and commentators. When a single Rabbi advocates for the cleansing of Gaza (a very poor choice of words), which most likely means that he thinks - and that's how Jewish people understand it - that dangerous and murderous terrorist groups like Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic State must be eliminated - which is a very rational response from Israel - what do we hear? Shock, outrage, condemnation.

Same old same old, and always very predictable. Jewish people have dealt with this for centuries...fortunately our skins have thickened.

Raphael, "both sides" fall prey to mantras that de-humanize. Yes "Gaza is going to be clean once and for all does frighten me. You say that "speaks volumes" about me. So, Hamas are "terrorists" and IDF is just defending itself. Let me ask you something: Who killed Rabin, and thereby, the peace talks?

You're trying to browbeat me and make me feel stupid and bad, and also prey to leftist ideology (certainly not) but it's not working. Israel has murdered thousands of innocent children in recent weeks and all you can do is show up and try to shame me in those angry Zionist tones you strike so perfectly?

Maybe this isn't the Substack for you.

I am unabashedly horrified by the utter refusal by Israel to even TRY to spare civilians, especially women and children in Gaza, and this PRETENSE that it's reasonable strategy to target a few Hamas leaders, who apparently are not there. Israel is a brat. In the mind of the brat, nobody else's needs matter at all.

I am well aware of this history of Arab militancy/terrorism/murder of Jews in Israel. My father was the only reporter in New York to report on the Yom Kippur war.

That's your cue to say: "You're bringing eternal shame upon your father," or some similar guilt tripping stuff.

Gaza IS an open air prison.

The fact that the slaughter of thousands of children bothers you not at all, that you feel it is justified, by things that had NOTHING to do with them, speaks volumes about you.

There is no conversation possible with someone who hates and is either ignorant of the facts or distorts them for the sake of justifying this hatred of Israel and what you and the far left and far right call "zionism" (isn't it ironic how the far left and far right are demonstrating how much they have in common in this hatred of Israel?).

A couple of examples:

Hamas members are not " a few", but roughly 20 000, and Hamas is not the only terrorist group in Gaza.

The number of civilian dead in Gaza are given by Hamas itself, a terrorist organization. The irony - again - here is that you do not trust anything Israeli officials say, but you are quite willing to trust the statements of terrorists. But the irony most likely escapes you.

I could go on and on...but as far as your statement: "maybe this is not the Substack for you", doesn't it sound like the old reactionary statement "love it or leave it"? Again, the irony is so huge that you cannot see it.

You have expressed your views, and your hate towards Israel. Thank you for your honesty, at least now we know.

" but that the utterance of a single Rabbi"

The winking countenancing of ethnic cleansing/genocide of Palestinians has been disseminating like a gas in social media amongst the Alt-Sphere in bed (only this time) with the Mainstream. And with this disseminating gas comes the gaslighting denying it's happening.

Or is the new gaslight to say "it's happening but you are bad if you react. you hate Israel, then, You hate Jews etc." It's a very complex gaslight. Very potent and strange.

Expand full comment

It does seem complex, though technically the complexity may involve other fallacies on top of gaslighting.. A couple of others closely related I've noticed --

Critic: "Israel is bombing civilians, women and children!"

Pro-Israel Person: "Not it's not, you're lying!"

Critic shows proof.

Pro-Israel Person: "That's what happens in war!"

Pro-Israel Person: "They beheaded babies!"

Critic: "You haven't proven that claim."

Pro-Israel Person: "You want to see headless baby corpses??? What kind of sick person are you???"

The good thing about Israel and Jews in general, is that we do not need your approval to defend ourselves...we have encountered people like you for hundreds of years and we are still here. So you can bark all you want, Israel will survive and remain.

By the way if you truly cared about the Palestinian people, you would support the removal of Hamas and the Islamic Palestinian State, which are keeping the Palestinian people in poverty by rerouting international funds to finance their constant aggression towards Israel. But people like you merely use the Palestinian cause as an excuse to express your hatred of Jews, plain and simple.

...yes they suffer from selective memory deficits: they conveniently forget that the leaders of the Palestinian

"freedom fighters" have literally made a killing, using and abusing the Palestinian people by taking the money that was earmarked for them: Yasser Arafat died a Billionaire and then some, financed off the backs of his own people, keeping them miserable and in abject poverty

I'm not all that concerned about Israel per se, but more about Jewish influence in the West through their massive promotion of Leftist culture & policies over the decades, a problem which is only exacerbated by the inordinate influence, talent, genius and ambition of Jews.

Your position does not make sense, as by attacking Israel (which is currently governed by rightwing politicians) and Jewish people in general you are completely aligning yourself with the radical left which is pro-Palestine and anti-Israel.

Don't you se the contradiction, and that you are manipulated by the left?

The corpse count thus far: 18k indiscriminately killed inhabitants of Gaza. Is this shoah or what? Democratic state, I see, Is that an unconvicted criminal at its head, now also as per international law? Would you mind alleviating my concerns about the democratic state of Israel illegally keeping an unknown number of nuclear weapons? Is the ethnic cleansing currently underway in the West Bank part of Israel preventing the mass genocide of Israelis? Is the Oded Yinon plan for Eretz Israel (from the Nile to the Euphrates) still a reliable guide for the future? Just asking for a friend in Syria.

18 000 killed according to...Hamas, a terrorist organization that would have absolutely no reason to lie and inflate these numbers, according to people like you.

As far as nuclear weapons, this is the only deterrent Israel has to prevent an aggression from all sides and total annihilation. Israel is a very tiny nation surrounded by sworn enemies...look at a map!

Regarding international law and condemnation by the UN, seriously? So now the people on Substack trust the UN all of a sudden, a globalist organization, when it is convenient?

........don't expect to find consistency or rationality in the midst of useful idiocy.

I remember back in May 1967 when Israel was outgunned and totally surrounded by Arab countries threatening annihilation, that great peacekeeping organization, the UN, stepped aside and out of the way, pulling its troops so that the Arabs could surely THIS time be successful in wiping out Israel. The results of the 6 Day War changed the map of Israel;

that did not START the war but had to FINISH it in order to survive!!

Good point! They also choose to conveniently ignore the fact that without the iron dome defense system, Israel would be reduced to rubbles by the constant barrage of thousands of rockets the Palestinians direct towards Israel...but somehow this does not count as aggression or a crime against civilians either in the mind of the ideologically brainwashed.

These people simply look for excuses to attempt to validate their antisemitism. That they would side with terrorists and with radical Islam (the Palestinian Islamic State) in their stance against Israel, a radical Islam that would chop their heads off if they lived under it and did not submit to Sharia law, is sadly ironic...it is difficult to understand such a complete lack of intelligence.

The rightwing does not like radical Islam, but has always hated Jews even more, so it sides with radical Islam and terrorists against Israel. Not a wise choice.

The leftwing has no understanding of radical Islam whatsoever, and sides with it against Israel because it mindlessly follows the old cold war alliances (the USSR and the Arab world against the US and Israel).

Problem is that many of these people have been rendered incoherent and irrational due to their overwrought hatred of Israel, and Jews in general.

It's hard to hold much of a conversation with ANYONE whose capacity for thought and practical solutions has been hijacked by the emotion of hatred to such an extent that their default action can only be destruction and, of course, absolute denial that they are engaging in any such thing!!

Any human being that sows hatred and calls for destruction of others, will reap the same in their own life.

God the Creator and Sustainer designed it to work that way. Hatred of others brings a curse down upon the hater.....

Personally, I take comfort in the fact that Israel does not need these people...they can rant and rave all they want, fly terrorist flags in the streets with the blessings of leftist governments, Jewish people know who they are and have a strong identity that has survived centuries of brutal persecution.

Israel will survive, whether the rest of the hateful world likes it or not!

But I am (sadly) amused by the fact that these people, here on Substack, who compliment themselves and each other for being clever enough to not fall for the Covid narrative and the globalist agenda, are completely falling for the anti-Israel, pro-Hamas propaganda, and lose all ability to reason when it comes to Jews. Who knew such virulent hatred was still lurking beneath the surface in 2023?
