I have been subjected to both blood and airway chokes in training many times. If you have ever been choked out you know that it is not a slow process. Either the blood flow to your brain is occluded, or it's not. In the case of an airway choke, you are unable to breath and you tap out. I will give the prosecution this: There is the but-for principle. George Floyd was in mental and pulmonary distress from ingesting narcotics. The pulmonary distress was aggravated by decades of drug use and what he had ingested that day. But-for the arrest and position he was placed in, he may have remained calm and may not have died before the paramedics arrived. Remember, the initial autopsy findings were that he died from an opioid overdose. In any case, Chauvin had no desire or intention to kill him, no malice was proven, only disregard for his life by not following proper procedure, therefore it is not murder. If it was not recorded, broadcast worldwide, and amplified for political purposes, it would have been determined to be another in-custody death caused by fentanyl.
