This is the most uplifting thing I have read in ages. I find myself having to get “news” from the GoodNews Network these days and this would fit right in. Thank you for sharing something sweet. As Chaka Kahn said, “Tell me something good…” I used to sing and play classical music for abandoned/abused horses and they responded well. One sweet blind horse, Dottie, used to sway her head to the music and loved The Great American Songbook, no kidding. I will check Bibi’s site out. Again, thank you!
Bibi is a magical celebration waiting for a place to happen! Not only are her songs truly memorable, her caring, generous personality shines through each moment.
Having performed in nursing homes and also having had relatives in them, I can say that there are few more rewarding moments for both the performers or the audience
You are blessed to have Bibi as a sister. And she is blessed to have you. Thank you both so much for all you do.
From the studies I’ve read, live music is one of those few experiences that significantly raises the endorphin levels in the brain, resulting in euphoria and pain relief. Anyone — especially the sick and neglected would benefit from your sister’s music.
It is why I believe live music is the nearest thing to hope in this nonsensical world. Our ancestors understood.
Btw, Bibi sounds amazing. Your love for her shines through. You are lucky to have family like that, and so is she.
What an extraordinarily kind and talented woman--just like her sister! Thank you for the inspiring article. We have so much to learn from our elders--they deserve all the best and its heartwarming to hear about the ways that the elderly are being honored and cared for.
Rob, funny you should ask! We are good friends from our music scene in early 1980's Sweden with their PARENTS! We've followed Klara and Johanna's journey and heard them live many times, from their very first gig in Brooklyn. Now they play Radio City Music Hall when they pass through NYC! Astounding!
Thankyou for this uplifting post, Celia! Bless your sister Bibi's heart for singing and bringing joy to elderly shut-ins. Years ago, when my dog, a big fluffy, huggable Newfoundland, was still alive, I would take her to nursing homes to visit with the residents. Those who were unable to speak much, or couldn't hear well, especially loved petting and cuddling with her (and she loved it, too!)
I am touched and so grateful that Celia wrote this tribute to my work. I'm smiling from head to toe. To read the comments here, and to have dozens of you - perhaps hundreds- sign up to my Substack is filling me with energy and a sense of direction. Now I know we're really onto something! I want to help other musicians and entertainers do this very joyful work. I thank you one and all. Thank you Celia for ALWAYS appreciating the work of people below the radar who are trying to do something of value. This post changed my life. I will see you all on a Zoom call soon!
Congrats Celia and what a nice song by Bibi. I like the lyric and its message , one I really needed right now. Let the flow take you. And beyond all, she offers the world a great gift to those forgotten in our unforgiving society.
fun fact - bibi is also a talented keyboardist. iirc last time i saw her on keys was at the "new" maxwell's in hoboken, spring 2017 with tammy faye starlite's hilarious pretty babies, the ultimate satirical blondie cover band. so i'm overdue!
What your sister is doing is heard and seen in heaven I can promise you that. Tears when I read this... currently taking care of my own mother and documenting that journey. I also love to write, compose, and sing. It's the only magic we have left! Thanks for sharing this - I will follow your sister's beautiful journey.
You are both so unbelievably fabulous! I will definitely check out Bibi's site. What an incredibly joyful thing to do, bring joy to the elderly. Spectacular. When I worked in an assisted living/memory care facility, I also witnessed the joy that music brought the residents. It is the best medicine.
BRAVO BIBI!! To better explain her work in elder care facilities, a couple of years ago Bibi sang a few songs for me. Bibi's private serenade unexpectedly made me feel special and beloved.
Thank you, Celia, for honoring Bibi's "ministry." Although I must say, "ministry" barely begins to capture the magical vibrational shift Bibi unleashes when you find yourself at the center of one of her "sound baths."
Cat, you are so generous with your praise! I love your words "sound bath" . I send you continued Happy Birthday wishes into this exciting next chapter, and thank you for sponsoring this next chapter of mine! So happy we are connected!

Celia, your sister Bibi is a bright and twinkling starlight.
Yep I'm proud of my sibling too.
It's a nice feeling to see it come together well.
She's got a good sound, have you heard of a Swedish band called First Aid Kit? They're great like your sister, heart felt songs!
