Nice to get postcards from a favored Substack voice. This part of Spain always interested me because of my lifelong love of flamenco. One of your readers, a woman living in rural Eastern Australia, has "Friends with Solitude" in her Substack bio. This grabbed me because I attempt the same even while living in Manhattan, NY. I often walk along the Hudson River. May we all find ways to nurture ourselves in a world of chaos.
Nice ones--I'm for one am always excited about postcards, and if there's anyone who likes esp. vintage ones, come on over to the Erich Sonntag Postcard Collection, my grandfather's +41K specimen-strong collection with postcards from the 1890s through the 1980s:
Fckn cats, eh! I don't know about them being the all-knowing Lords of the Universe but they sure can look shifty at times. I apologize for swearing of course, and my spouse disapproves strongly, though she is not chez nous at this moment.
Slightly off topic, but I was inspired in my feeble profanity skills by this mountain of a man who held forth yesterday on Canadian Judges. The guy is the biggest Mortgage Broker in Canada so he knows a thing or two about the nitty-gritty. My spouse laughed guiltily at his supreme skill with the the F-word: https://youtube.com/shorts/YgFbouHKtVw?si=Lgl2iIB_YlgC1Jos
«Shocking pink is bold and intense. It takes its name from the tone of pink used in the lettering on the box of the perfume called Shocking, designed by Leonor Fini for the Surrealist fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli in 1937. The color shown at right matches the color of the lettering on the original box. This in turn was inspired by the Tête de Belier (Ram's Head), a 17.27 ct pink diamond from Cartier owned by heiress Daisy Fellowes, who was one of Schiaparelli's best clients.»
soon I shall display its daylight color, it's a wild, bright fuschia.
Our friend Scott knew every single one but I remembered none.
"South From Granada" (Gerald Brenan) has truly jaw-dropping botanical passages. "Botanical?" Pertaining to what he saw growing and his knowledge of the flora between Granada and the coast.
Things keep telling me a story of mistaken technics and disasters current and impending-- https://counterpunch.org/2026/05/26/the-long-history-of-controlling-water-and-why-it-no-longer-works/ . So much for my chances of sex and romance, except that I used to walk home with a waitress from my job at a Sambo's restaurant in Helena, Montana, in the late '70s, through a neighborhood where all the houses cultivated fragrant lilacs in their front yards. She and her hubby went to Washington for apple harvesting yearly, and she asked if I'd like to go. She thought Canada was a sure bet if things got to where they are today. But I had other things on my mind. Brooklyn wasn't so bad for friends, either. But I'm guessing it wasn't so much a matter of traveling far, back when people managed things in places like where you are.
Great cat photo--beautiful twilight photos. I am currently in the badlands, and was just out snapping twilight photos myself. Twilight is a very beautiful time to be outside.

Love your pictures .
“Muggles” looks like he just “did something “, and intends to finish it in private.
No worries regarding the use of rough language…I’m hardly a stranger to it. When used judiciously, nothing else quite fits.😁
As to cats, I’ve got two of them running mostly free range around my property. They’re fuzzy, affectionate, and amusing to watch…
That said I have no illusions that if necessary, they’d dine on me.
Thank God I outweigh them.

In the light of day, it occurs to me I have to show you the actual colors of those (flower name?) in photo #2.
(It was my mother's favorite color and in the 70s we called it "shocking pink." )
I want a real camera but it has to be what my mother used to call "idiot proof."
She only wanted to press one single button, and I feel the same.
The Project, by the way, not completed yet but I see the whites of its eyes. Today should be final day.
With eyes closed, have placed wet paper towel over that which Lewis chewed on--have come that far.
Update: Have removed, discarded, sterilized, said a prayer for its soul.
Why do I think these things are worth detailing? I don't know. Why do they take so long to complete?

Plant bougainvillea with shocking pink flowers:

What is that piece by Camus, or is it Sartre, called? A la Cherchez de Temps Perdu? Pardon my feeble French.
Ten minutes later: Looked it up... Marcel Proust. Never read it. Busy doing my own search. Chuffed at having recorded the title almost perfectly.
The way Jasmine aroma fills the night air is like no other ...
Thank you Celia for the peaceful evening photos, and for sharing such a dreamy bedtime story.
Blessings
Hola Jaime!
Muggles has some explaining to do .
Headscarf parted so perfectly ?
So symmetrical ?
Not so unspanish ?
That cat Muggles reminds me of this painting:

What's that called? Is that a bougainvillea?
The second photo I see a red human trying to climb the wall
Yes, Douglas! I see a bougainvillea Sasquatch climbing the wall!
Doug did you get the "Hi Doug" video from Lewis?
t. Celia Farber-enjoyer.
Betwixt and between, you’ve captured its magic! Meandering contigo, the joy is contagious.

I like it. Sensuous silhouette.

Wow, Sambo’s got as far as Montana. Did not know that.
