It’s not impossible to understand. Hersh offers only two possible explanations, concluding both reflect bad judgment or incompetence at the helm. What about the idea that they did this deliberately to set the stage for their next move, which will likely be slipping someone else in or merely leading us by the nose to a Trump victory.
