I converted to the Holy Orthodox faith over 20 years ago, and I still marvel at the joy and relief I still feel at having found my spiritual home. I wish you peace.
I used to follow them when they toured. I have all their albums. This song is from their first “unplugged” album. In my opinion it’s much better without the bagpipes. I had no idea that anyone else was into this group!
Thank you for posting that. You are the best.
By the way, I hope you recognize that I was partially kidding above. It’s still really good with the bagpipes.
Spring Equinox, beginning the new year (in Thailand), Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on the 25th. . . Thank you! My favorite harmonies. God Bless us all!! May we always find the courage and protection to find our way in God's Light.
Thank you Celia. I encourage you to read the life of St Nektarios who wrote the hymn in this video. There's a movie about him called "Man of God" which you can find online, and a biography called "St Nektarios: The Saint of Our Century". I'd be glad to send you the book, but you could also find a lot of material online. He's one of many incredible saints of the 20th century, that people would benefit greatly to learn about.
The 3 Tenors and a ventriloquist.. With their mouths barely moving, how can they make such a full sound? Is it because of the sacred geometric structure of the building? A solemn and beautiful invocation. This rube is only now realizing the close resemblance between Cyrillic and Greek alphabets. I know we're not supposed to laugh in church but my juvenile imagination couldn't help but think of the children's song, The Friendly Beasts.
Off topic, I'm sorry, but this seems important. Suddenly you and dozens of other stacks I subscribe to have disappeared from my email notifications. Only the "controversial" ones that go against the narrative, other ones still appear. Have any of your other readers noticed this? Is this on my end or could it be on your end?

So beautiful!
The Agni Parthene is a long, meditative hymn in praise of the Mother of God, written by St. Nektarios. One of my favorites!
I sent this to my stepson (33) and son (23) who attend a Russian Orthodox church in Christchurch NZ.
They remind me that today is the first day of Lent in the Julian Calendar.
So thank you Celia and many blessings
Wow, absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing Celia! God Bless!!!
No use starting over when you haven’t finished the job your currently working on.

Actually the hymn is to the Virgin Mary

Thank you, Celia. ❤️
Gorgeous. Another one to add to my morning. Thanks, Celia.
For all the Latin language lovers out there, just listen to the monks at the Abbe de Fontgombault in France, singing the Mass in Gregorian chant. Go here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89T1ZBE39qo&list=OLAK5uy_kDqtaZbTiE8t0YZQDXsAHKLNVvlZpDR78&index=3
