I'm not convinced by this as it has been reported on the BBC. That alone makes me suspicious. The protests in Brazil which have been going on for over a week have not been covered at all. Having seen some more reports I definitely have the same suspicions. It's not just the BBC, it's also CNN and ABC. 10 people -- TEN -- were killed in an apartment fire that no one suggests was intentional, and that activates millions of Chinese to bring down the government and people here to cheer them on? Excuse me, "stand with them," like the government we're supporting in Ukraine that, while being birthed by the U.S. in a coup in 2014, intentionally murdered 42 people in an Odessa union hall fire by locking them in and trapping them. I don't trust initial MSM reports about anything -- including China. Or can we trust BBC, CNN, ABC and social media effective today? Some people are wondering if the ten people died because covid restrictions and policies may have hindered the speed with which first responders could get to the scene. Yes, one can wonder. But I don't have to wonder about (how many was it) patients died in hospitals and nursing homes in 2020 because of OUR government's INTENTIONAL covid policies -- while Trump was (allegedly) president. Sorry, not buying at this point. And I notice in some accounts the go-to Uyghur and Iran "horrors" are being woven into the story. That's usually a reliable propaganda giveaway of the underlying dynamics of a "crisis." This seems more like a bash China than anti-Covidian outbreak. Any word on investigating the cause of the fire?
In China the risk of protesting is arrest, slavery, rape and having your organs harvested. So not only do I take my hat off to these people but it also indicates they feel like they have nothing to loose. They obviously believe they would rather be tortured and killed than to live the way they are being treated.
If we wait as long as these courageous Chinese citizens have waited to put it all on he line we are doomed. So, yes let’s follow China’s lead… the lead of these dissidents in China.

They didn't cover the MILLIONS of European protesters in the streets against covid policies, on more than one occasion. They didn't cover the MILLIONS of American protesters against the invasion of Iraq in 2003. These were in our "backyard." I'm not surprised at all that what's going on in China, whatever the scope, isn't being covered. Things that ARE covered include neo-Nazis fighting for freedom In Ukraine in 2014, and whatever wished for "color revolution" under the guise of "fighting for democracy" is in vogue at a given time, like in Hong Kong or repeatedly in Iran.

Those who haven't might like to read "We have Been Harmonized" by Kai Stritmatter - a fascinating (and aggravating) account of what life has become in China. The one potentially good piece of news he points out (and this is when the book was published last year) is his observation that the people had become to get more obviously angry by the way the government has treated them - perhaps what we are seeing now is the result of the straw finally having broken the camel's back.
