In Traditional Chinese Medicine, anger is not a negative thing. Green is the color of anger, and spring is the manifestation of Mother Nature’s “anger.” I think it’s like stress--it’s an important feeling, as long as its dealt with, and channeled in a productive way. Lingering stress or anger devolves into self-destruction, disease, rage, depression, etc. Wokeism in an attempt at quelling the creative force of anger; this is why the Woke are constantly finding reasons to be offended.

This explains so much. Thank you.

Wokism feels like a form of anger sometimes. It definitely rejoices in others being punished

Expand full comment

I don’t think Wokeism is anger, I think it’s envy. Weak people resent beauty, youth, intelligence, innocence, because they fear it shines a light on their shortcomings.

I see wokism as a religion, similar to religious extremists. Take the most self righteous condescending manipulative (fill in the blank religion) telling others how they need to act, seethe when others dont obey, gloat when they see others suffer, this is also wokism.

To me woke is forcing a view, belief onto others not accepting they are on their own path and dont need to be someone else to "get to heaven, Valhalla, etc."

Woke are extremists many times they pretend to be innocent and think they are all that and a bag of chips. They appear too arrogant to have envy but they probably have a lot of envy like you say, underneath their pretenses.

Some are weak but others are strong

Just my observations

I'm not around many people so I only see internet wokism.

Woke from what I have experienced is people who dont want someone on substack to mention their religion because it offends them. It isn't inclusive for people who dont believe in their religion and is offensive to even hear them talk about religion. It wants to force others to reject themselves, their God, their beliefs to embrace the other persons and it rejoices when others get fired or cancelled if they get in trouble.

It is outraged if you dont wear a mask too, get a jab too. If they have to do it, so do you.

I've heard some woke trans women (women with penises and facial hair) say, if a man doesnt have sex with me he doesnt like women. Woke makes things up, changes the definition to suit them, equivocate, are hypocrites dont follow their own advice. They manufacture weaknesses to take advantage of others, get ahead and take what isnt theirs, lack humility and gratefulness when they get it.

Wow! Thank you, Celia. Such a timely piece to help us reflect on the difference between anger and wrath. Many of us are still working through the process of healing from the mass psychosis of anger and wrath hurled at us in the last 3 years. Truth warriors like you kept us sane. Some still hold residual anger towards those who mistreated us and haven’t come clean with their uncharitable behavior. Your piece gives greater spiritual clarity. As a baptized Catholic, this was a good reminder to read this piece carefully.

Your second paragraph hit home because I know many who bravely defended their medical freedom by refusing these MRNA injections, suffered greatly. The criminal injustice the unvaccinated had to endure from unhinged politicians, health care facilities, media newscasters, along with COVID fear crazed friends and family members continues to unfold.

Who of your readers has not suffered from the following comments or actions: wishes that the people like us would die, wishing the front line workers I personally know -nurses, cops, doctors - even airline attendants and others would permanently lose their jobs; be charged extra for health insurance, be gleeful when we were barred from attending cultural museums, barred from travel and family gatherings… all to preserve their sense of superiority from the unclean. Sounds like Nazi Germany. This was worse than Trump Derangement Syndrome. Because it also affected churches I attended.

“We follow the science” they smugly proclaim like mindless robots. Instead, they follow the mantra of the fearful. Where was the love of those who bowed to this fear?

Tragically the behavior continues with the wars in Israel and Ukraine. Its also coming from my own Ukrainian diaspora community I grew up with, those who claim to be immune from propaganda because their parents fled communism. Many people were duped and still cannot see the full picture.

It was like watching Pavlovian dogs trained to bow down to fear.

But I welcomed back those who were humble enough to honestly admit they were duped and now have an open heart to the truth.

I note the absence of idolatry & apostasy - significant? In my view there are no deadlier sins than these, as they guarantee eternal perdition.

Wow. Sorrow, depression and dejection are sins. Sooo it a deadly sin to be clinically depressed maybe medicating and implanting us with things that make us not feel is for the best

Sometimes I wonder why God created people with feelings when he really wanted robots. When we fell from grace and became sinful what did He expect? I make grateful lists and am happy over tiny things but I still have clinical depression and sometimes God feels cruel to judge imperfect people, to have demanded blood sacrifices and allowed his own son to be killed. Who made up these rules anyway? Is God bound by a rule to kill his son to save us? and yet we are supposed to forgive eachother over and over. Sometimes religion seems like a cross between martyrdom, hypocritical and masochistic.

I guess we will always have MAID now. Us sinful can off ourselves, not subject others to our presence.

This is part of why I prefer not to be around people. They read a book and think it gives them a right to judge others, pick eachother apart... just buck up and stop being depressed you deadly sinner lol. This sounds like my psychopathic gram who tortured the f out of me then wanted me to have a happy face. No thanks. 1800God MAID on my mind.

Peace to all my fellow depressed sinners. 😘💕

I like the way that each virtue cures a sin. Regarding “wrath,” though, (and I’m no Bible scholar), doesn’t the Good Book often use the term “the wrath of God”? You’d think an omnipotent being would have the self-control not to succumb to wrath.

Yeah, I don't know. But I want to know what makes Netanyahu "Jewish." What does he think of wrath? Is he secular? Secular Judaism confuses me. Zionism, I understand. Pretty simple.

We have a tendency to anthropomorphize God as if an all powerful eternal being who created all life should be like us. God can handle anything perfectly. Including wrath. We can't. He can. The same for vengeance.

Thank you, Celia, for reminding everyone how much we all profit from following the teachings of Christ. Believe in Him. Don't believe in Him. But no one can deny the world is a much more beautiful place when His teachings are followed.

The list I particularly love are the Fruits of The Spirit :

Love. Joy. Peace. Long Suffering. Gentleness. Goodness. Faith. Humility. Temperance.

You will know them by their fruits.

If we all lived with this list as our personal goals the world would be immeasurably better.

God Bless.

Only Jesus is holy. We can share in His excellency when we accept Him as who He really is. Right now as you are. I repent everyday because I sin everyday. I atone by recognizing I am a sinner, you are a sinner, all those you listed are sinners and none of us anything other than a sinner.

You will never be god no matter how you try. God is God. There is no other.

Anger & wrath are responses to an injustice.

This response can be adaptive & make the overall situation better by its expression, or it can be maladaptive & make the overall situation worse by its expression.

Anger is adaptive when the angry one is able to shackle their behaviour by consideration of the other.

Anger that has no consideration of the other becomes wrath.

Any behaviour that trespasses on another I would categorise as having negative karmic consequences. These negative karmic consequences some call sin.

Ephesians 2:1-9 explains the great exchange, going from condemned sinner deserving of God's wrath to a redeemed forgiven child of God. We experienced the great exchange where Christ's righteousness was imputed to us through his death and resurrection giving us justification. It's a beautiful rebirth in the Spirit where we are a new creation with a new heart as spoken of by the prophet Jeremiah.

James 1:19-20 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Proverbs 24 Make no friendships with a man given to anger, and with a wrathful man do not associate, lest you learn his ways and get yourself into a snare.

Great piece Ms Celia. I am a product of the catholic church. I found Jesus in a protestant church. I now understand salvation to be by grace through Christ alone. I am grateful to our Father and His Son. Also grateful for you as He uses your thoughts and words to reinforce my peace. Much love to you Ma'am ❤️

The difference between you and me is that I'm not going to justify murdering. I would never say God is blessing me, I'm obeying God, doing in God's work.

Justice will be God's. Though shalt not kill.

If I were to kill someone, in self defense or out of some misplaced feeling of superiority to someone else who's religion is different (I'd never do that) I know it would be breaking God's law. I'd have to ask for forgiveness, not feel justified about it or feel good about it.

This is why jails are filled with "innocent" murderers because they feel justified in what they did even if they harmed innocent people

🤣🤣🤣 You word-twister you

If you take one scripture and run with it you can justify all kinds of murder in God's name. Doesnt mean God is backing you.

When the hand that rocks the cradle teaches hate instead of God's love, forgiveness and peace, you get children indoctrinated to hate for the sake of hate.

As for the rest, you twisted my words making outliers into the majority, ignoring my parenthesis.
