Leave it to Jon - in his singular voice - to make it all so obvious.

Couldn't read it all without paying. The part I read makes total sense.

Gotta love Jon! I believe him. He is blowing the lid off how academia has always worked and will probably continue to work unless we restructure it entirely.

People gain status for all the wrong reasons these days. The genuine geniuses like our Jon are treated like dirt and exploited. However, sooner or later the truth emerges and we have to face the flaws built into the system and fix them. Academia needs the dust blown out of its ancient corners and it is not before time that we clean house.

I love him too. But this is one of his fiction pieces that could very easily be true. But it's creative. That's why he used to have two blogs, one fiction to make people think and one real to make people think.

Agree with the rest, though academia is more rotten to the core than it is dusty.

Why are you certain this piece is fiction?

I can just tell. I have probably read everything he's ever written (well put on his blogs anyway). He does this often. I could be wrong.

But what are the odds that he actually knew her and plagiarized for her? It's not something he would ever do.

"You see…

Claudine and I go way back.

I met her one summer afternoon at the track. Santa Anita.

I used to play the horses. Vigorously.

And I was in one of my deep holes.

I owed serious $$ to the wrong people. They were the process of squeezing me.

Claudine and I sat in the clubhouse that fateful afternoon sipping gimlets, and after five or six, I spilled my story to her."

No way, it's fiction. And the funny thing is that he wouldn't ever let anyone know. He wants people to figure it out themself.

Ah. So your assertiveness was based on assumption? Got ya.

Maybe our Jon has more integrity than you give him credit for. I am his devoted fan too and I notice that there are always clues when a piece is fictional. This time I saw no clues. This time I think he is confessing reality, not because he wants to help Claudine but because his conscience pricks.

*sigh*

He has written thousands of pieces exactly like this one, all fiction, to make a point. If you really think he started plagiarizing for the future president of Harvard for many years after getting wasted on gimlets with her, I have a condo on Jupiter for sale (similar expression to what Jon often uses) if you're interested.

That he writes lots of fiction is not an assumption.

No need to get all uppity. I am entitled to my opinion as much as you are entitled to yours. Do not try your sneering fucking snidey comments on me, pal. I am never likely to whimper and fuck off with my tail between my legs. THAT IS A FACT.

Go look at his blog. The second link under this one is also fiction. So is the 3rd, 6th and 7th.

I read this piece earlier and wasn’t sure if it was tongue in cheek with lashings of satire.... but it seems legit. It IS legit, right? It’s both shocking and hilarious then in equal measure but spectacularly unsurprising insofar as the narrative goes but I had no idea of JR’s circumstantial gambling addiction.... ah, no, it’s all bogus innit? That was an AI piece. I geddit now....or do I?

Am I actually writing this?

I, Robot....

Jon was my first foray into this world of alternative journalism, besides NaturalNews.com. I think if he was so honest as he usually is, he's telling the truth!

I quit NN when that became obvious to me 10-15 years ago. Don't trust anyone who continually says "Wuhan virus". Only trust people who say "fake virus" or better yet "there are no viruses".

Celia....ok I am game. Is the article by Jon REAL or just another one of his dreams??

He is a creative writer who makes people think by intellectually smacking them in the face. It's fiction, that could very well be true. But it is fiction. It's one of the things that hacks use to try to discredit him.

That's what I was wondering.

Fact or satire? May we never know....

Satire

What a perfect place for the paywall to go up :). I can't tell if he's making a point or an actual admission.

thanks celia!! i can not conceive of how after three+ years of wending my way thru the on-line jungle searching for resonance that i missed jon rappaport! loved this piece and have spent most of the day swimming in his archives of genius satire as well as his straight ahead journalism. as to the former i can't recall ever being so immediately entranced and buoyed by a writer since i found kurt vonnegut all those years and years ago. i'm sure there's been some...but vonnegut springs immediately to mind.

Love this satire by Jon Rappaport. A great writer.

Can anyone prove there was no justification for the EUA? BC there was none. Or is that too simple?

While Jon's article is entertaining to read, people who present these kinds of he said/she said claims without credible substantiation are exactly why "other" people dismiss them and their claims as crazy conspiracy. Collectively, it does real damage to those courageous voices putting their lives and livelihood on the line to bring the actual truth to light. Either put up or fess up Jon. State when you're doing fiction or satire. There's just too much BS out there to wade through without hip boots.
