I never expected to live in times like these. Every day there is a new lesson.
I have no family to eat Thanksgiving dinner with, and I really do not miss a meal with friends and family. I do like to eat dinner in a local restaurant, so two days before Turkey day I emerged from my cocoon and made a reservation at a local restaurant I trust. I was a bit late, but that was no problem. This restaurant knows me, I've been eating there - by myself - for five years or more. I ordered everything I wanted, including 12 of my favorite oysters and a French 75. When the bill came, I pulled out a credit card, at which time the waiter advised me that Liam, the restaurant manager, had comped my entire meal. Wow! I was dumbfounded. A few minutes later I found myself standing by him and thanked him in person. So kudos to Liam!! Who made my thanksgiving real.
As soon as Tessa Lena started talking about domination, it reminded me of Judge Andrew Napolitano. I remember him talking -- years ago -- about libido dominandi. We've all got that urge, but like all vices we must work to overcome it --daily.
Unfortunately, this will to dominate does comes disguised, as Tessa Lena so brilliantly put it, as "community values." It expresses itself among "regular" people -- not just those who seek positions where they can indulge that urge every day.
We saw that during the height of the COVID op. So many -- from the screaming loons to new company "policies" to the store managers -- regular, everyday people -- "You will wear a mask."
This vice has plagued humans though the ages, but had its full airing at the start and throughout the COVID op.
What is its counter? Peacefully calling it out? I wrote about this, telling the story of how I asked a woman who insisted I was "less than" (not directly, of course, because she had the higher moral ground, of course) a question. That question?
"What do you think it is about 𝒚𝒐𝒖 that makes you...want to make 𝒎𝒆 want...what 𝒚𝒐𝒖 want?"
So true what you say that like one's reinforce one another's notions and implicitly the greater the "community" the greater the collective ego and dominance certitude.
tessa's worldview is heavily influenced by steven newcomb's concept of how domination drives history. she's done 3 interviews with him and all are worth watching. newcomb's work dovetails well with lobaszewski's political ponerology. the first interview (linked in the article) lays out the fundamental concept https://tessa.substack.com/p/how-domination-drives-genocides
Thanks for this link. Good dialogue here. I have, comparatively speaking, had only superficial engagement on this topic, I think in part due to lack of discussion because so few people I encounter even realize how profoundly ingrained in language and culture is the overbearance of the dominators.
Happy Thanksgiving, Celia. It becomes increasingly apparent which side people are on by whether they're living in the problem or living in the solution. Living in the solution always includes gratitude--which in my world extends to patience, tolerance, compassion, even for people you don't agree with. I wish more people would practice this attitude. It would throw a major wrench into Agenda 2030.
44 minutes into a talk by Peter Norton at Tufts in October or September, he mentions a General Motors executive, Charles Kettering, who said in the 1930s "keep the consumer dissatisfied," in order to put into effect the engineering plan to make the automobile ubiquitous on the streets of big cities-- https://x.com/Shareable/status/1844437916082393584 . The historian Karryn Higgs takes up the meaning of that statement in an article from nearly four years ago--
https://thereader.mitpress.mit.edu/a-brief-history-of-consumer-culture/ . That pretty much seems to have spelled domination for us through the twentieth century going into the twenty first. I recall Theodor Roszak in the 1970 book "Where the Wasteland Ends" saying countervailing powers should exist in organized civic power structures. But we all mostly seem to look helplessly on, sort of like Ursula von der Leyen getting dressed down by an indignant member of Parliament, momentarily-- https://x.com/BGatesIsaPyscho/status/1862029966243762440 .
I too, watched Tessa's video and have to disagree with her premise that we are all intrinsically good. We are not! You said it perfectly, SheThinksLiberty. We must overcome the "vices" (i.e., evil, badness; whatever term you choose) daily. It's a constant battle to be good. We can be good because we can fight the vices and evil forces.
Thanks for sharing, Celia. I am thankful for you and everyone here. Bless you all!
holidays seem to me, more and more, pretty pointless (shriveling husks) unless there are children around to impart some effervescence. plus I couldn't shake the feeling all day that this civilization is coming apart at the seams. I will be emailing CHD tomorrow for the purpose of imploring them to initiate a defamation case against MSNBC for their repeated false claims and misrepresentations as concerns Mr. Kennedy's conduct and dissident views. this smear campaign is jeopardizing his confirmation because our representatives' positions re health/medical matters are instilled in them from "recognized authorities on the subject" and when it comes to essential subjects like their constituents' physical welfare, for the most part they just flail around in the murk.
Stayed home with my family and talked on the phone to my extended family (not about politics). Had a late turkey dinner, very peaceful. I hope yours was too.
Most if not all of what used to be family have separated away (partly due to growing older). The path I walk is so divergent from theirs. Perfectly normal and appropriate. We are all on individual journeys via life expectations in the present physical, as well as commencing end of Life in the spiritual realm of death (Devachan) on the other side. Looking forward to all the experiences with beings who can be encountered there.
BLESSINGS for all you do! So thankful for your fighting the good fight against THEM!

A zero sum game in relationship terms … I had never thought of that. I’d rather think that nobody is perfect and each of us has roles and responsibilities of our own. Let us never forget that our entire society is hamstrung by the neurological deficits of mass vaccination, among other delivery vectors of population wide poisoning. We ARE going to do something about it. Mr. Bear has spoken.
It especially hits home when parents and children remain alienated over the political and neurological divide of the pandemic … the assault carried out by the Biden administration. The Mrs. made a superb mushroom risotto. Just us. A little wine.
There was mass murder … not S’posed to do stuff like that in America …. and an attempted Communist takeover blunted by our written Constitution and a large enough count of citizens with their faculties more or less intact. When yiu don’t have these you get UK, France, Germany … all of Western Europe except Hungary perhaps? …Canada, Australia, NZ … the whole former British empire plus a bunch more.
Not to forget the valiant freedom movements in those countries, not at all, but indications are they are looking to us to get our house in order. Theirs will follow.
Thank goodness for the election result. In the words of Friar Lawrence “There art thou happy.”
The last minute escalation in Ukraine is driving me insane. That rhymes. But I think we’ll make it to the inauguration. That needs no explanation.
Happy Thanksgiving Celia Farber. You are blessed and a blessing. Grateful for your work.

A good film about damages of TV was the 1990 film Avalon by Barry Levinson. Not surprised it did not win any academy awards.
One close relative would not come to dinner because I publicly supported Trump.
Can't win them all.

Happy Thanksgiving, Celia and all.
Well done Celia, thru thick and thin, you helped carry us all along.
Happy Thanksgiving!
