however as Craig Murray ( now under investigation for terrorism ) has reported, -- when

Assange invited the Swedish official [ who was to take his deposition ? ] to come to the Ecuadorian embassy to question him so as to avoid what he feared justifiably, entrapment and extradition to tje U.S., -- it was SIR Keir Starmer who intervened and persuaded the

Swedish official to decline the invitation

Mike Pompeo:

"villains such as Assange…Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning…They certainly aren't journalists. If they are foreigners, they are enemies. If they are Americans, they are traitors…. These crooks claim to be honoring human rights and free expression. They are in fact serving the interests of the most evil and repressive regimes… These enemies and traitors must be punished… I pursued Assange's extradition hard as CIA director and secretary of state…. I lobbied the Ecuadorians to kick Assange out of his pathetic accommodations inside their embassy, and they finally capitulated…I will be delighted the day he is thrown into an American federal penitentiary. Just one less useful idiot free for Russia to exploit-and a warning to all such scoundrels in the future."

Assange:

"Russian actions on its own doorstep in Eastern Europe do not in fact threaten the United States or any actual vital interest. Nor does Moscow threaten the U.S. through its intervention on behalf of the Syrian government in the Middle East. That Russia is described incessantly as a threat in those areas is largely a contrivance arranged by the media, the Democratic and Republican National Committees and by the White House…there is, however, another country that has interfered in U.S. elections, has endangered Americans living or working overseas and has corrupted America's legislative and executive branches. It has exploited that corruption to initiate legislation favorable to itself, has promoted unnecessary and unwinnable wars and has stolen American technology and military secrets. Its ready access to the mainstream media to spread its own propaganda provides it with cover for its actions and it accomplishes all that and more through the agency of a powerful and well-funded domestic lobby that oddly is not subject to the accountability afforded by the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) of 1938 even though it manifestly works on behalf of a foreign government. That country is, of course, Israel"

Sadly.... The above only scratches the surface of how deep this rabbit hole goes. As I have a feeling you are well aware of.

I woke up this morning thinking, "If we had stood up en masse when Julian was taken prisoner the world would be a different place now." That was the first shot fired and we went down...imagining they wouldn't keep shooting. Then they started the censorship with Alex Jones. First grenade thrown. The general population is too distracted along with over-active optimism biases and little critical thinking to wake up to reality. Now people are imagining that America can stay out of the fray of WWIII...an event they will ramp up to get their depopulation plan and 'great' reset done. It will hit us. Prepare.

Love Tucker's work!...however, we do now know the problems... what we need is for Tucker to start interviewing people with the solutions to this evil takeover...or should we just sit in a war room wringing our hands about all the shit they are doing to us?...every working system under attack...

Expand full comment

Right. Part of the solution is to demand the right to bodily autonomy and the constitutional right to criticize the government and to peacefully protest, things that they're slowly trying to take away from us by criminalizing anti-government speech that they now call "disinformation," a threat to our democracy.

according to the organized supporters of Assange, (if I recall the %age correctly_, 87% of Australians are with them in calling for his release and return to Australia -- it's the Albo govt. that is doing nothing for him and Caroline Kennedy spoke of "a plea bargain" -- he'd be expected to "confess" to a "lesser crime" and be transerred as a prisoner to serve time or thata "crime" in Australia

Celai asked what crime he's charged with; he's not charged; he has been in G.B.'s super-max prison in solitary or nearly ive years "on remand": in other words as CAitlin Johnstone put it, like Australia, the U.K. is another of America's bitches

Isn't it the other way around? Seems to me that Assange is really a political prisoner of the UK. Assange is not a US citizen and committed no offense in the US; so the charges he would face in the US seem bogus. Again, more theater, fakery, lies and nonsense.

Expand full comment

You are certainly right that Assange is a political prisoner. He committed no crime anywhere, but the US prevailed upon Sweden ( where a vulnerable young man with an unsavory record, was induced to "befriend" then betray Assange ) to solicit false but titillating accusations against him ( as in so many engineered take-downs ), to then be used to charge him, even though the women involved did not wish to prosecute, but that was taken care of by the prurience-charged media vendetta that ensued.

What he did in the UK ( excuse me, the US's UK bitch ) was to jump bail rather than submit to UK-facilitated US nefariousness, including ouster of Correa as head of Ecuadorian govt.; and then use of, I believe, 3 billion taxpayer dollars to bribe ( pay off ? 0 new head of Ecuador to make its London embassy a very unwelcoming place for Assange , and a dangerous place, -- with CIA extreme invasions of his and his guests's privacy, including of meetings with legal counsel; and copying of private information, including legal documents; not to forget consideration of plans to kidnap and kill him . . . but I digress:

So, he failed to show for hearing to set bail, knowing it was another trap set for him . . . but I think it was when he and Stella were making plans to take the children and escape to Ecuador ( where I believe he was assured of diplomatic immunity ): something probably discovered via the CIA's extreme surveillance: I am becoming a bit entangled in trying to recall sequence o things but think that would have been when the US's UK bitch ( after first preventing him access to sanitary facilities for several days, causing him to be unkempt, and unshaven and unwashed, when the squalid squad arrived, w/orders to wrap him in plastic and haul him away as obscenely as possible ( but last seen holding to the window of the wagon, the book, The Manufacture of Consent )

really there is no need to apportion blame: it is the US/UK/Aussie + others complicit powers, together with their media lackeys ( whose hauteur and squalor Wikileaks exposed as insultingly dishonest, inutile, obsolete, and inadequate for the purposes of a valid Fourth Estate: thanks be to Celia, Craig Murray, Stefania Maurizi, Nils Melzer, Jonathan Cook, Randy Credico, Russell Brand, Glenn Greenwald, Chris Hedges,, Kevin Gosztola, and all J.A.'s stalwart family and friends along with so many other independent and courageously principled journalists and advocates . . . including thousands whose anonymous acts of conscience and creativity have contributed incalculably to the day when Julian can again himself, rather than depending on others,, as he requested of all who are free, while he still had a public presence, to, in his absence, "Be Me."

with apologies for this overflow but as others have reminded us: had we acted in time and with adequate strength and perspicacity,, to prevent Julian Assange's persecution, silencing, and 23-hour-a-day immuring in a space "the size o a horse's stall": then thousands of children might have escaped being crushed into rubble . . . and those with both conscience and varying degrees of power might not be left to struggle as valiantly as they may, against what is likely worse to come. . .

Expand full comment

Well said, Barbara. Thank you! All of that should help people realize that democracy, free speech and the rule of law are - at best - mere pretense and that US/UK/Israel/Ukraine and others are in practice all run by the same small group of people, who pretend to be something they are not. What a mess!

Celia, in this wonderful post you just summed up pretty everything. Julian's in jail for spreading the truth. They want to set an example for the real journalists and ethical hackers.

The interesting thing is that the mainstream press is not fighting for the freedom of press, freedom of speech and reach: they are completely bought off and muzzled. The real journalists, like you, searching for truth, are found in spaces like this one.

It's true that condoms have a real life failure rate of about 10-15% (which means like having nothing on, 1 out of 10 times). It's also true that they are useless against HPV and other skin contact Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Yet, nobody talks about the other lesson from Julian's case:

If you are a nuisance to the cabal, don't fool around: you are going to be accused of rape or sexual harassment without any evidence... or they hire someone to make you fall in the trap.

" I were La Cabal, this would really, really freak me out. "

One way for us Peasants to discern the contours of this mysterious entity, the international Western Cabal, is to notice various curious limitations on its power, and hypothesize what this means about its nature. One can surely imagine a level of power where they could simply abort this Tucker-Assange meeting (and/or abort Tucker and Assange themselves long ago). Does the fact that Tucker continues to be provocatively active and now is meeting Assange mean the Cabal is *incapable* of stopping them? Or they don't want to raise any further suspicions by assassinating them (even with plausible "natural causes" or accidents)? The latter still imputes some limitations on their power, insofar as they would feel the need to worry about such things.

Wow! The Libs are going to have a confusing fit; they hate Tucker so much because he doesn't give s-it about their virtue signaling opinions, but they bleed for Assange ... I don't agree with everything Tucker says, but he gives a voice to everyone right or left; not the Neo Democrats way.

Expand full comment

You are confusing liberals now with liberals then. Go ahead, make the case Debbie Wasserman et al are going to support Assange.

Tucker still calls himself a classical liberal, as I call myself. There is no effing way either he or I are "liberals" by what passes today. There is zero support for Assange from what currently gets called "liberal" or left; yes, there is support among the classical liberals and anyone big on the Bill of Rights. But that's not today's liberals.

Communication depends on language - as, BTW, does thought.

Expand full comment

I think you're correct. What now passes for liberalism is simply a mindless mass that thinks whatever NPR tells them to think, no questions asked. Once they start asking questions then the mechanism is that they get shunted off toward the right, and we're now in the process of having the right demonized as the greatest internal danger to our country, ever--- full of conspiratorial misinformation that's a danger to our very democracy. Those who are obedient become the fanatical who push whatever agenda the CDC or WHO or IPPC slaps on them.

Anyone want to give odds on whether or not the "authorities" let Tucker bring a recorder? Or even pen and paper? I'm actually surprised they let him even into the Belmarsh parking lot, so maybe the odds are not exactly 0.00000000.
