Powerful.....thank you for sharing a part of your dad with us....what a special thing, to have your father's voice...with his words on a page, and his innocence, in a book...forever....💛
Delightful! Find father memories...My own father just turned 92 this past Monday. I hear very different recollections from him as he was raised 2nd to youngest of 9 kids on a farm in North Dakota. Different types of stories, yet cherished nonetheless. Thanks for sharing this.
My Father lived to 92 y.o, he would have lived longer, but got damaged knees from a car hitting him.
He checked himself out of the hospital without telling anyone, as he couldn't get any sleep, because of some bikers parting with the nurses. The staff were in a bit of a panic over that, trying to find him.

Among many other things, Barry was one of the best writers of his time. It is comforting indeed to know that he is now with the One who made the water. He truly drank deeply of life!
Happy Birthday, Daddy Barry! That was particularly brilliant, especially for a five year-old! I don't recall anything in particular from that year, except my brothers and I, living on a tobacco farm, rolled our first cigarellas that year. One puff, and I was down for the count. When I came to, my 4 year-old brother was running off with my lit smoke. Oh, well; I was too sick to chase him....
Such innosense. Beautiful. Wish i had known your dad. Fortunately i had a dad of his caliber but he only got 70 years. He said when he was young he only asked God for 70. I wondered why not 100 ? But that was just how he was.
Yeh, in 60s i was the only white kid that rode in back of bus with older colored people. It was legal in va. Then to sit anywhere but tradition held. Young coloreds now sat in front. Whites in middle. Me and older coloreds in back. Why there for me? Didnt know much yet about colors other than a variety. But i knew these older coloreds had something no one else had at that time, warmth, trust in God, and tons of common sense and wisdom that dont come from school. Exactly what this young boy needed.
May memories of your dad give you peace and smiles.

maybe a better world if 5 year olds made the important decisions... adults really seem to mess thing up... 🐱
Such a sweet reminiscence from the mind of a 5 year old. And how innocent!! I love this!

Your Father was a bit of a character Celia.

I love this on so many levels. Thank you.
Hi Ann. If you like take a look at the comment I just wrote in this thread. It’s a little story about me when I was young. Take care.
I know Celia that you are a very beautiful woman and wish you the best sweetheart.
So delicious Barry’s taste <3 RIP to one of the All Time Greats!
Beautiful Celia. This is a brilliant story to share. Thank you.
