I think the first rule of nutrition (or pretty much anything else) is, if in doubt, do exactly the opposite of what the PhD academic consensus mandates. You will be helping yourself 90% of the time. I switched from vegetarian to paleo about 2 years ago and lost 30 pounds and my BP went from 160 to 115. I am 77 years old and take no prescription meds, though I live now in SW Mexico and we have a lot freer access to meds OTC than in the land of the free/s. Only ones needing a prescription are psychotropics and most antibiotics.

If I were to suggest just one really easy change, it would be to totally ditch all seed oils. This would include all processed foods. Soy is the worst but they are all literally poisonous. And even vegans can do this, as for some strange quirk of nature organic coconut oil has an even better fatty acid spectrum than lard or tallow. I even avoid olive oil as so much of it is adulterated with seed oils. We are living in a time of peak fraud. I am a retired chemist but I can't afford a chromatograph to weed out the brands.

My experience indicates that it is better to follow the recommendations of late dentists like Weston Price and William Donald Kelley in matters of diet.

Just in an attempt to document my contention that the greatest villain in bad health and obesity are the seed oils which far outweigh the issues with carbos. Of course the combination of seed oils **with carbos** is even more deadly. The video link below (45 minutes) builds the case for this. Dr. Knobbe even investigates a non-industrial "primitive" people who do not eat any seed oils but whose main energy source is plant based carbos, and he found no obesity among them. They all were quite slim. This is not a put down of paleo diets, but it does document just how toxic the ubiquitous seed oils in our culture are.

A friend of mine, vegie for 50 years. Strict too. Went to a restaurant and ordered a Beyond Meat cheeseburger. He said it was amazing. Best meal he had had in years. When he paid he said ‘that beyond meat burger was the best cheeseburger I have ever had.’ The server was shocked and said ‘I am so sorry. I didn’t hear the Beyond part. That was a real burger’. He went home and started doing chores and was getting to some put off work. He is 70. His wife said ‘what in the world has gotten into you? You are moving so fast.’ She, also vegie for fifty years, was horrified when he told her. He is seriously considering carno.

Love this story!

(We humans are meant to eat meat.)

I look forward to a deep dive into this one Celia. I have been insulin free and sober for 3+ years by the grace of God and a carnivore lifestyle, as well as intermittent fasting. I am learning how to deny myself and take up my cross...Sound Familiar?

No wonder the ghoulz are destroying our meat supply - all our food, but they are fixated on our meat. They really want us dead, but sick is a big payday too...

But, but, but we will have insects to eat and we will own nothing and be happy. Euthanasia is rolling and the slime minister of "Canuckistan"(trudope) justifies it on the basis of money...that is, people who are retired and experience health issues are wasting food and resources. Cutting? Might explain why two close acquaintances cut themselves; one died. Both were vegans. Any clue as to mechanism?

I thought the world of my sister in law but she claimed she was a healthy vegetarian. She ate at our house often and loved the chili I made with real meat. Then she realized it was real meat and I had to make her chili without meat.

She ate every kind of junk food, Twinkies, potato chips, etc. drank the 16 oz Pepsi and was a sugar addict. She got cancer and we couldn't convince her to cut out the carbs and sugar. She also had finger and toe nail fungus. Sadly she passed away in 2019 in hospice in our home.

Goodness how sad. Classic, though. Nobody says anything to people who eat like this.

My sister has a very different diet from mine. I stopped eating meat 40 years ago, noticed no inner difference - except for no more bad feelings for eating animals. But it makes total sense to me that different people need different diets - as different animals need different diets - though it also seems so weird to me that there are human bodies which need meat. I'm glad Valerie Ann Smith finally found a diet that suited her body.

It is the kind of case that should be in a medical journal—but these cases are everywhere in carnivore circles. She was going to die and eating meat-fat-eggs-butter- only cured her. The question is why? And the answer to that question could bring down a multi trillion dollar industry. Pharma makes half its profits off "mental health" drugs (not a real statistic just a manner of speech) and I believe it is imperative to listen to people like Valerie and not merely say we are glad they found something that helped. NO. We should be knocking their doors down to study them. To offer this to the world. To get excited. It's not about making vegans do this is they feel fine. It IS about helping the desperately ill return to a living life.

“It IS about helping the desperately ill return to a living life.” Yes. The desperately ill ought to be EVERYONE’S concern, not just family members and healthcare providers. Frankly, I have no confidence in healthcare anymore. I think it’s all about keeping people sick and on toxic pharmaceuticals. Yeah, I’m that jaded.

I’m not on any medications and I only had the flu jab twice. Totally anti-pharmaceuticals, including all injections. My nutritional intake could be better, seeing that I still like refined sugar and other carbs. I need to get better at exercising too. I don’t feel too bad for turning 67 this year, but I know I can do better.

Hush my heart Gary! That song/prayer is so, so beautiful! I saved it to say in the morning, with my other prayers. It speaks to how I truly feel in my heart…and soul, where God IS.

May the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost continue to bless you, as you endure in faith to the end.

I disagree re: "WE" should be knocking their doors down to study them.

Who is this "we"? It isn't me. I'm not a health professional.

And I have no expectations about health professionals in general. We've all seen how they are around so may things, including all things plandemic. Most health professionals basically should not be doing anything medical.

So of course some people should be knocking their doors down to study people like Valerie.

All people should pay attention to diet possibilities. My sister does better with the occasional meat. It's just known in some circles that different diets suit different people.

So as for me: I'm glad Valerie found something that helped. And NO, I shouldn't be knocking down any doors. My main concerns are other. It's a huge world. So please don't tell me what I should be doing.

Meat cures mental illness. All mental illness. I've studied this for a LONG time. That statement is not exaggerated. It is the very answer.

I have been binge watching carnivore videos for a few weeks now. I grew up eating processed foods. I remember my little body feeling so deprived it tried to tell me to eat fat but I was just a kid - I grabbed the crisco jar and ate spoonfuls. By the time I was 28 I was in very bad shape. Always thin and it didn't matter how much sugary crap I ate I never gained weight. By 32 I was a wreck. My body could not eat anything without getting sick. Long story short, I recovered (through the wisdom of an alternative MD) by taking supplements and eating salads, fruit - stuff I never consumed much of previously. I now realize those foods did help to heal me (plants are medicine) and it was mostly due to removing the processed "food" that allowed my body to heal. However, I ended up cutting meat out of my diet thinking "meat bad" and I was "healthy" but not well by any stretch as the years of eating only plants, seeds, nuts, and grains was a slow smoldering fire. I added red meat back into my diet recently and already I notice the sores in my nose that never heal are almost gone. I am moving forward with this... it will be interesting finding the balance that will work for me but I am certain my health will improve.

Great story. Your body needs vitamin B12, B6 ... B12 deficiency over time creates serious mental health issues, fatigue, weakness, brain fog, depression .. Many vegeterians and vegans know this and you can absolutely live a healthy life without eating meat if you consume the right supplements and foods that will bring you the necessary nutriments and vitamins. Eggs are my favourite food, excellent source of proteins, B12 and B2.

Okay. I see the trend, which to me is funny, because just a week ago I was going thru all of this. I would like to offer another lens to look thru. I came out of 10 years being in a bad cult. But after coming out of it I wish to tell ya'll what helped the most. I went into nature. To me, it's the way God(or 'creator",... potato, potatto) intended for things to be(without environmental impacts of course) which cuts thru everything. And always look to those that have walked the walk and talked the talk. Learn from their experiences, for that is just smart. Charlotte Gerson beat cancer and helped THOUSANDS world wide beat cancer. Dr. Terry Wahls had progressive MS, beat it and is now helping THOUSANDSs worldwide. ALL DIFFERENT DIETS. But humans are complicated and unique on so many levels, everyone is different. Most do not know that the oldest living people of more modern time was the American Indian. Most written accounts that are more mainstream actually come almost 200 years after the white man first came here. After reading many hand written accounts from the 1600's(journals, diaries,...) the common thread was how 'robust' the native population was. The average death age was 135, oh, in perfect health and perfect teeth(the teeth thing was huge form some reason). There are many accounts of how those that were over a 100 years old could still do those things that those in their 30's were doing. Nature has been at it for so long that we don't even know. And nature is NOT wasteful( 2 good books:'The Loom of Creation' by Milner and Smart and 'Sensitive Chaos' by Schwenk). So I researched WHY they lived so long, their primary diets and spiritual attitude. Their diets were vegs, nuts, fruits and berries with not a whole lot of animal based protein because other than fish, it was hard to hunt animal protein with the current tools(other than the buffalo. An extremely excellent, LEAN protein, which the buffalo back then ate 'blue stem' grass whose roots went over 15 feet deep). But the Inuit peoples subsisted on almost all animal based protein because all other forms of nourishment was non-existent( It's very similar to how honey from bees is best for you if its from local to where you live. Almost miracle like properties. There are many documented facts about this). So location/genetics/heredity all play a factor. If you look at nature's design, animals that eat almost all animal based protein eat it raw, not cooked(which alters the chemical makeup and destroys ENZYMES), have an extremely short intestine(compared to humans) and their teeth are different. Human teeth are actually more like animals that eat a vegetative diet, not meat. And let's look at the design of the inside of the intestine. The best analogy would be like shag carpeting. Meat is extremely dense and not digested quickly as opposed to say a lion because we don't eat it raw. So in order to 'clean' to the base of the 'shag' so to speak is fiber. The intestine is not impermeable, so the longer something sits at the base of the 'shag' so to speak, then things can 'leak' thru into other areas of the body that shouldn't. The term is 'leaky gut' which causes so many problems we don't even know( I read a book a long time ago that went into great detail of proper food 'combining'). The American diet promotes dis-ease. Never combine an animal base protein with a starch, only a veg. If you eat starch, only with a veg. Veg with anything, but always at the end of the meal to help clean the 'shag' so to speak. Your bowels will love you for it. Fruit by itself. It is simple mechanics, not rocket science. There is a tool called a refractometer(invented back in the early 1900's) that in seconds, can tell you the nutrient density of any fruit or veg(using what is called the 'Brix' scale). A good/proper tool tells me tells me the truth. I went into the grocery store, and using a garlic press, tested the difference between organic and non-organic fruits and vegs and 'nutrient density'. Night and day difference that is most disturbing. Eat a cardboard image of broccoli, carrots, onions, oranges, apples,.... Simple mechanics. The body is so smart. Your body can't get the nutrition it needs from normal amounts so you eat more to where it becomes habit. You can actually eat a lot less with nutritious food but the 'habit' has to be broken. So what problems does not having enough of a particular vitamin or nutrient or amino acid create combined with our toxic environment over a long period of time? No one knows. The fruits and vegs of this country are 'tainted' in so many ways on so many levels we don't even know. Even the organics. And NOT that nutritious. A lot of the things used in agriculture promote the very things that people get relief from when they turn to a carnivore diet. So there are many inter related facts that can't be discarded. But I believe it would be wise to error on the side of nature, because it /he/she/God knows better than me or anybody else. It is a learning process that we MUST learn for ourselves and is not taught by design. It takes time and effort to become reacquainted with our bodies and to learn it's language. The mental side of health, most do not know that the majority of American Indian's traditions and ceremonies are of thanksgiving and gratefulness, and respect for the creator. But that's a whole 'nother subject. Just saying.
