I was thinking about this one before ... when Trump was in office.
"Trump’s failure to pardon Assange when he had the chance blackens his presidency even more on this day..."
but then ... the president can only pardon someone who has been judged and put in jail. This has not happened in Assange's case. As far as I understand, a pardon is only possible if there is a sentence being executed. There is no way to pardon someone from an ongoing investigation, which is what this Assange case formally is. So I am not sure Trump can be blamed in this case.
Don't call yourself names, whatever you do. Words have power. You're doing well Celia, I admire your persistence in the face of all that adversity we are seeing to anyone telling the truth.
Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon when Nixon hadn't even been charged with anything. Given that kind of history, I can see how someone might assume that Trump could have issued such a pardon. Still, he didn't even speak out for Assange, though Wikileaks helped his campaign against the wicked witch in '16.
Celia, I respect you wholeheartedly, and I agree with the spirit, facts and sentiments, of, well, most everything you write. But I am seeing patterns in a bigger sphere around the "failures of President Trump". NONE of this lies at President Trumps feet. Did President Trump run on a platform of being infallible? Did any think him some perfect being? His work alone on protecting the most innocent and vulnerable in OUR children was enough for me to vote for him a million times over. Make NO excuses, it is WE the PEOPLE who have failed this country for Decades. Why were we ALL not out protecting our country, when the building started burning, lazy cowards all of us! If it happened again tomorrow, we would all cower again. Why was a 17-year-old the only one who mustered the balls, backbone and courage to use and protect our sacred Bill Of Rights? Here in Minnesota, a Grandmother Lisa Hanson will spend 90 days in jail for opening her business against dictator Gov Walz Orders.
Where are the Patriots protests? Where did our courageous American Rebels go? There are many questions about Jullian Assange, but there are no questions about Lisa Hanson. She put her life on the line in broad daylight, while we all cower and post in a virtual reality. President Trump was only a President. For Crimminy sake people, the founders were quite clear, this country is WE THE PEOPLE, not we the President. I refuse to blame any President for the failure of WE THE PEOPLE. Let me repeat, the failure is OURS. Until we are willing to risk our own safety and security, we deserve the world the global elites dish out for us. Die on your feet or live on your knees. America's 2nd Revolution is upon us. Long live liberty, Long live the Bill of Rights, Long live the American Rebel Spirit. In JESUS CHRIST we trust.
Your words could have easily come from my thoughts exactly. I have been saying for years that this country is in the ditch because of we the patriots. We have allowed the crimes against us and our country to happen and we continue to do nothing to stop/change it. SHAME ON US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Precisely, shame on us! I understand the sloth of sucess, the desire of safety and security, but our founders gave us a roadmap. The power of the Bill of Rights is downright amazing, standing strong for so long without ANY Patriot protecting it for decades, maybe centuries. No offense to our Military, I love and appreciate them dearly, but war in other lands a Patriot does not make, when the land of our founders and families has been ignored.
Again I agree, except for loving and appreciating our military. I love and appreciate all in the military that are America loving patriots. Sadly there have been too many military members over the last few decades that are devoted to the global elite scum that have done their best to destroy not only America, but the world and again, many of us have been aware of these traitors and have done nothing to stop them!
What exactly could "we the people" have done short of taking up arms and shooting politicians and bureaucrats? Americans have no input into the political process other than to vote for one of two indistinguishable assholes in the sham elections that are held.
What should "we the people" have done? Should we have voted harder? What is being done by the government and its masters is being done to us, not by us.
The repeated use of that phrase "we the people" identifies the faux intellectual, pretend patriot. I'll leave you to pat yourself on the back over that silly, vapid little post you just wrote.
Ed, that's cute," Faux intellectual, pretend patriot, vapid little post". Excuse me for asking, but I do not remember insulting you, is there something I missed. If so I apologize. I assure you, I am never fake or false about my actions or words, maybe not perfect in the delivery, but honest in the intent. I would wonder why you feel the need to be angry or dismissive of me? Why not choose to be more proactive and constructive? I am baffled that you see no area between voting and taking up arms? "What is being done by the government and its masters is being done to us"? WE are the government, the elected official only represents us. That is one of, if not the, most important tenet of our system of governance. I repeat, WE are the government. In 2019, when "they" burned down 20 blocks of my city, including homes, schools, police station, and businesses, a few of us did try to prevent it, but our numbers were too small to make a dent, and the law enforcement sided with the arsonists and not those who wished to protect others livelihoods and property. Voting in our state and city are no longer useful, I will continue, but the fix was in long ago, by way of Chicago politics. My wife and I have brought a lawsuit against her employer for unlawful CRT practices, at grave expense to us. Our lawsuit is based on the first amendment, which seems fairly important and patriotic, would you not concur. We have a little help, but the lawsuit in this part of the country, seems like a very uphill battle. But again, why would you wish to demean me? What intentions are driving you to falsely accuse people of lying and acting in bad faith? I would love to know, because, if many of us believe these fights for our core values are futile, and resort to attacking those who are fighting, we will be fighting a battle on two fronts. Historically, that is never a winning proposition. Health and Joy to you and yours.
You insulted everyone in America who doesn't have a voice. The fact that you think that "we are the government" shows that you're a pretend patriot. You'll never fight anyone or anything, you'll just keep stroking your ego by posting silly little statements on the internet.
Well, you seem to have a few fans on this stack, so post away There are some uninformed people who will think you're actually doing something, but I'm not one of them.
How am I even capable of insulting everyone in America? For that matter how is ANYONE capable of "insulting everyone in America"? What is a "pretend patriot", as opposed to a "real patriot"? I gave examples of how I am fighting; I apologize that it does not meet your standards. I am left wondering why you choose to ignore any of my questions? The only answer my "silly little stroked ego" mind can arrive at;
avoidance of conversation, debate of ideas, or lack of ability. Once again, I am sorry, I lead you to believe I am a narcissist fulfilling a bizarre need of "fans" on a virtual reality post? Not my intention. My own beliefs are that sharing of ideas and experience is useful, and conducive to the strength of one's community, whatever that community may be. Isolation and division are bad, and communication is the antidote. Disagreement is never discouraged, but false accusation of a person's internet seem detrimental in any context. Why would you tell anyone that their statements are silly or little, without any substance of facts. Why choose to construct a post of vitriol instead of open dialogue? Last but not least, for accusing myself of "insulting everyone in America", you then state, "there are some uninformed people who.....", if that is not insulting, we have very differing definitions.
The US Constitution and Bill of Rights gives "We the People" the authority to have done exactly that, taken up arms and thrown off a tyrannical government. Voting has proven to be fruitless for decades and has become nothing more than a way to occupy the silly minds of those that still believe in it!
While I agree that this was a grave injustice, but then that's what it's always been. We are in the midst of a huge tyrannical upheaval that overshadows everything...it also hides a great deal.
Recently, as someone who regularly read ConsortiumNews, I began to see a trend whereby JA was the focus of nearly all attention, and any attempt to see the larger tyrannical transformation on the COVID Operation, was simply shutdown/out of the comments. How is it possible to not see Austria, Australia, Canada, Germany, UK and New Zealand, and Luthuania. People are starving from COVID Ops, and moved to concentration camps, because they won't take the killer injection.
So in some crazed way, JA has simply been a place for some to pour their energies. If he is gone indefinitely, they may return to the larger reality....of crimes against all of humanity.
In some rather (divide and rule) insane way JA became a place for the "left" to place its approved energies. It was within (however fringe) the Overton Window.
Sad but true. Counterpunch did the same. Even one of my favorites, Black Agenda Report has succumbed to the line in the sand.
Journalism has long been dead, except on occasion to pretend an occasional truth to keep the radicals at bay.
Art, I agree wholeheartedly. The more information, the more distractions, the more division and with division and isolation comes the final blow, eventually. Journalism died while the GREATEST Americans were still alive, and I mean none other than Presidents George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Within years of the Bill Of Rights, after protecting journalism, they saw how quickly the nefarious took it over, and wrote extensively about the demise of the press. We do not need MORE information. WE the People need only to follow our Founders, they were right about EVERYTHING. Yet, we know more about google and facebook. We need to stand together. We need to sacrifice our safety. Why was Kyle the only one who was willing to protect our communities that night. Why were we ALL not out there? Why are we cowering?
The most courageous journalist perhaps ever, exposes massive war crimes and cover ups, through anonymous sources while violating no laws, and is now the criminal. yeah yeah land of the free press and all that.
Good Citizen, Celia is fabulous, and has a pedigree worthy of praise. But there are other journalist with as much courage, dare I say, even more. Andy Ngo, Julio Rosas, and Drew Hernandez come to mind. All three showed up to protect our Republic, when it should have been hordes of WE the PEOPLE showing up. My question is why do journalists seem to have more courage than WE the PEOPLE? Until that question no longer is asked, WE the PEOPLE do not exist.
I must disagree, President Trump was only a President. WE the PEOPLE trump the president. What have WE the PEOPLE done for decade upon decade to derail this corruption of our beloved Country? Blaming others is a form of divide and conquer. Another way to suckle on the globalist teat.
Noted. I'm not "blaming" Trump. And we the people were sleeping while the left took over the country over these decades. What I am pointing out is two key mistakes he made. One was not pardoning Assange.
Are you sure Trump could legally have pardoned Assange? I thought so too at one time but then ... a pardon is given to a convicted criminal. Assange is not convicted. He's being investigated and charged, and extradited. I'm not sure the president has the power to interfere in this case. Formally the case is with the judiciary, and no president can order the judiciary to do or not do things. Imagine the cries of "dictator" in case Trump had attempted such an action.
I understood your point, and it is fair, to a small extent. I, having great love for President Trump, will be the first to admit President Trump made hundreds if not thousands of mistakes. But, one thing he did not do, is purposefully take action that would hurt the American citizen, or for his own wealth and power. I am not saying President Trump did not enjoy his popularity, as any of us would, or that he did not need to play politics in this swamp, but he seemed to truly love being a leader of this great country, because he loves the country. I was too young for Reagan, but since then, I cannot say that is true for ANY government elected official. Did President Trump make some bad hires, sure. Scores of them. But he was trying.
Most, if not all politicians, hire from a list of pre-selected, scratch my back "allies". Do I know anyone else, who could have done better, if they even had the ability to arrive in that Presidential space? No, I certainly would not be able to, would you? He tolled the bell against the media(not the first, but the loudest), he fought the war against child trafficking with amazing gusto (and saved countless children from horrible crimes), he threw his weight around, and almost got us a southern border again. Every politician in my lifetime has talked about border security, and not only do nothing, but make it worse, to scratch the back of their "allies". How many times did that man say he LOVED America? Countless, it sounds easy, right? When was the last President to utter those words? I was at Mt. Rushmore, as were many, because President Trump made it a point, on the 4th of July to be there. It was Glorius, tens of thousands of Americans from all classes, and creeds, colors and geographies gathered in their love of America. I felt like a child, a giddy 7-year-old at the greatest birthday party ever. A PARTY for AMERICA! When was the last time you witnessed that? All of us scattered across whatever piece of lawn we could grab in the tiny town of Keystone, standing up with our hearts over our hands reciting the National Anthem, because that was why we came. Not the intro to some baseball game, but for America. Everywhere you looked, grown men were sobbing, me included, it was one of the most beautiful sites of my life. Most humans would have caved within one weeks' time, from the constant hate and attacks he was hurled. I was appalled at the behavior. I am amazed he is still alive, and that is repugnant I even think that. I despise everything about Joe Biden but lies and viciousness would never be appropriate. Now if the truth happens to be vicious, because it is the truth, that is different. But the most important act of President Trump, was to validate our love of America. That alone make all of his errors pale in comparison. He was only President. From all I have read, pardoning Assange was a dangerous game, that would of put other great actions at risk. Politics is a dirty game; this I think we can agree on. Health and Joy to you and yours.

Ok.
Sometimes I am a judgmental jerk who doesn't take enough time to learn the facts. I thought he could pardon him. I'll take it out. Thank you Sepp.

One more reason to elect Trump in 2024. I'll lobby for his pardon at CPAC next Feb.
BTW, Celia - if you haven't seen it - Catherine Austin Fitts wrote some kind and well-deserved accolades to you. https://home.solari.com/hero-of-the-week-december-6-2021-celia-farber/#comments
People that tell/expose truths about the government should NEVER EVER be subject to discipline, they should be rewarded and praised highly!
Excellent point on Trump. Whatever good he did, is blackened by this and warp speed. Assange is a hero. Period.
