I have been taking picture of doors for years down in San Miguel de Allende, Southern Mexico and Guatemala…there’s just something about these Spanish architecture influenced doors that has one wondering.,.what beauty lingers behind these beautiful (some ornate, some so very simple) doors?
What a glorious collection. In our cookie-cutter American mainstream world any one of these would be a remarkable standout -- tp prize, protect and add to our legacy. Thank you for sharing these!
Portals. Into and out of. Just a question of being true to yourself? and whether you advance forward or perhaps (no shame) backward through the poles...
Transportive. The second-to-last door posted feels like the entrance to a Merchant family's home in Venice -- though I've never been to Venice before. So I googled 'Venice doors' and found this similar one:
If I could pick only one door, I would like to know the story 'behind' the third-to-last door posted. That arch -- gilded with seashells -- and, above the arch, the two dudes in profile -- facing each other. Are they both sporting "Monk" haircuts?
The last door posted, the first thought that comes to mind is "trader in furs". It's speaking to me -- and not just about furs. Then I notice the floor-buzzer panel to the left of the door. "Oh yeah, this is the entrance-door to my 6-floor walk-up apartment building..."
And, all the doors are double-doors... even the second-one-from-top -- though it's NOT symmetrical in the two halves... were the wrong measurements given to the carpenter?
My favorite is the one you previously sent, the doors wide open, revealing a tree surrounded and interpenetrated with soft brilliant welcoming light, as we peer into a transforming new day.
Love love love... beautiful babe. You have a good eye. No surprise. A brilliant woman of many talents. I have just logged on and now I have a huge catch-up! What fun. I have been busy with Wimbledon my favourite 2 weeks of the year here in the UK and where there is a stability in how things are. It soothes my nostalgia.. sadly it ends tomorrow. Thank you for these beautiful pictures. We will make big prints for your new house.
A keen eye for extraordinary doors! Love it. 💗👏🙂
I consider myself pro door! I like them closed and locked at bedtime and open in the daylight. Doors rock!

Europe's history is much longer than ours, and they preserve old treasures, unlike the US. Out with the old, in with the new.
That's what the US does to countries it chooses to dominate.
Destroy the old, and history, then rebuild everything using corporate contractors who profit from the overpriced restoration.
History gone. Lessons lost.
Our capitalist lord and savior wins.
Progress.
We really need to get out of our safe zones more often. See the world, Meet the people, experience the cultures so we can help save them.
Boomer memories are long. Explore them before they are gone.
your draw to doors is surely related to your draw to portals. These are lovely, Celia; thank you for sharing with us.

Mine too George! I took my first photo of that door 3 years ago. This one is way better.

You have nothing to apologize for. There are many like minded people who pray the evil and ugly stay outside their doors……
