What a beautiful picture accompanying your brief article.
One thing I've noticed, the picture of a home with interior lights at twilight (about a half hour after sundown) is one of the most comforting images possible. It is like an invitation to come in out of the cold and dark and pull up a chair around the hearth (el hogar) and share conviviality. Deeply comforting and human.
That's quite evocative and true for me also. I have many strong, warm memories of houses lit at twilight. In college I read a short story that invoked this imagery. I believe it was a short story by Margaret Drabble though I'd have to cast about in my mind for a while to catch the title, it seemed that the entire story revolved around this imagery, illustrating the contrast between the inner warmth, the outer cold and the oddly isolated state of mind of the protagonist that is soothed by the coming in from the cold.
Thanks for all that you do. I usually am not available on Saturdays, but Monday should work. I am excited about these meetings. We so much need to support each other these days.
Thank you for opening this up for Comments Celia. I got off after about 5:30 hours.
Hard to believe you went on for another 2 hours. I have some suggestions for organizing future meetings. they are valuable but need direction and time limits. More comments to come.
No problem.....I was saying thank you for getting us together, wishing you a blessed rest of the weekend and see you on Monday @ 6 pm EST. Love and Blessings, Renee
Loooooove our meetings and our tribe!! Thank you Celia and so happy you came back on and shared your dinner with us, so we could set the longest world record for a zoom :)
So far it's been going for 8.75 hrs!! I'm sure we'll make 9 hours at this point! We had over 60-70 people on for most of it and now we're down to the last 10 diehards ;)
I had to finally leave as my dogs were getting crabby and claiming to want outside and I was getting hungry. But I had a great time. It reminded me of the best parts of being a student--connecting with all sorts of people from different perspectives adding a lot of texture and learning all sorts of things. It's always amazing to learn all the sorts of things you don't know! Thank you to everyone!

I am so glad that you chose to not have this meeting be so serious. :-)
Thank you again for all you do.

Re: Well—"we would be a WASP family, maybe" . . . . or identify as one :-)
Those comments if not hyperbolic
Are definitely ellipse
With tense mo-ments and acrimoney
Riding on pursed lips
I wasn't there hurray for me
For my tongue might have slipped
And then the line fails and we're saved by
That troublesome eclipse
Beautiful photo , stirring , where is this taken ? All the best to you !

The Burning Platform has an article this a.m. about David Rogers Webb's "The Great Taking." The intro sums up where most of us stand in the West. Good read. https://www.theburningplatform.com/2024/04/07/whats-so-great-about-the-great-reset-great-taking-great-replacement-great-deflation-and-next-great-depression/
