That is a very typical figure of speech. Chances are she had some sort of weird issue in her past. Nothing in your post or remarks was inappropriate.

Not revolting at all . . . if anyone can't see those words for what they are that's their problem, not yours. That's the kind of person who also won't be able to handle truly free speech on Twitter or any other platform.

I am a very empathic, sensitive-to-other-people's-feelings person. But this is ridiculous. I'm tired of the self-indulgence of the easily triggered, coddled masses.

I appreciate your willingness to reconsider your words but they were not offensive. They were colourful and if you censored all your colourful linguistics, I would want to slit my wrists. 😉

Fuck um. How sensitive can one be. You're one of the few honest journalist around. Keep doing what you're doing.

Well - it made me laugh. As far as triggering, what the hell, that barely used to be a thing. Now it seems like almost the only thing. Don't get them triggered!!! No worries Celia. Occaisonally NPR comes on in my car ( I used to enjoy it) and now I almost swerve off the road when I hear those lying voices. And then I just turn it off and drive on. At least I still have that choice. I hope theres mostly freedom coming out of Twitter. What a ride we are on.

PUT THAT POST UP! WHO'S WITH ME?

ALSO MY CAPS ARE STUCK ON LOCK.

(ahem), Celia, I have just so many jokes that I want to make right now.

Irreverent jokes about posts with similarly themed headlines.

For example...(NO SAGE.)

This sensitivity is a huge trigger for me. It's common with so many today. This person is easily offended. Leaving because of a headline? Please. IMO your mistake is not in the headline but in the apology. You've done nothing wrong!

Hyperbole is often used as an effective and intelligent tool of humor.

Of course, TDS & wokeness has destroyed many folks’ senses of humor, in addition to their tolerance and ability to think critically

Too bad you took the PC bait.

It’s (PC) just another form of censorship and suppression.

Trust your heart, Celia.

We do.

The bottom line is that the left are crying themselves to sleep and have their knickers in a twist over the idea that free speech is alive an well. Thanks Elon Musk.

Seems over the top to leave a valuable (it is to me) Substack because of use of a very common expression. And it wasn't yours though I get what you are saying. It honestly makes me more suspect of the reader. You are never going to please everyone.

Am I caving in if I re post it but use a different headline? I think that's what I want to do.

I think I would suggest to go with your gut--it's usually right. It's a slippery slope, however. I love language and accept it's use even if it is edgy or uncomfortable. I wouldn't change it to appease (because that would never end) but if you feel it was improperly used, then change it. I admire you for your humility :)

Yes...you'd be caving in. - If you change it, change it to "Liberals Everywhere Are About To Commit Hara-Kiri..." - They'll have to think about that one; and, it's even more to the point, since you can "slit your wrists" and still not do yourself in, because some do-gooder conservative might come along and bandage your foolish self up. I should definitely replace the misnomer of "liberals", for they are not; there is a plethora of more fitting labels. As for technicals, slitting one´s wrists is but one part of the job, so the headline might run something like this: They were slitting their wrists while neglecting to take a hot bath at the same time. Petronius turning in his grave, Nero playing his fiddle while NYT burns.

Good point. The Far-Left probably doesn't eat grits (so the headline wouldn't really make sense).

Well, we will see soon the truth of these stated intentions. I watched Elon last night, first, recorded, opening the newest Tesla plant in Giga, Texas, then live, not sure how I got there, but live on a panel. He sure is the hottest thing going...though I seem to must needs watch the live Depp trial ( do not want to include her name--she reminds me of 45, who loves his name so much I refuse to say it--too sick with the fame thing), so what with that and keeping up with the Musky Kapers, it is all a bit much.

No need to apologize for what is obviously a form of sarcasm. If someone is that sensitive I'd tell them to toughen up a bit buttercup or you will sink beneath these modern world waves, rather than swim to the shore of logic and reasonableness. So toughen up buttercup...
