What became of his wife and children? He spoke of them in the beginning of his dispatches but then stopped mentioning them. I never understood why he didn't leave. take his family and get out. I just didn't understand it. It seemed suicidal.

I had thought he was separated from his wife. He was solo in Ukraine when I started listening to him. I remember he was missing for a time and had expressed that he was being hunted. Toward the end, his mad dash to the Hungarian border in the hopes to be given asylum was too late. I am so sorry he was so badly treated for the last six months of his life. I pray for his soul and his family members. These captured governments, world wide, care not for human lives and values or for our international codes that are there to protect us all.

From my listening to him early on, I think he was simply holding to a principle regardless of personal safety, but who knows. I feel bad for him and his family. I supported his position and watched him livestream a few times.

Gonzalo expected this. In one of his podcasts he talked about his decision to smoke and eat as he wished as he probably wasn't going to live long as the Ukranazi gov't would come for him again. He said that this was his purpose and destiny, He hoped that he was wrong as he'd like to live, but...........

In a later interview he talked fondly of his kids but mentioned his ex-wife. I only heard this today. I thought his [ex]wife was Ukrainian.

Inner stuff - like here putting something that did not serve him or others above going to safety. Anyway, inner stuff is so important, and important to deal with to live well. I POSTED THIS, AND THEN CAME ACROSS THE INFORMATION: before his arrest, Gonzalo Lira was trying to escape across the border and claim asylum in Hungary. So he knew he needed to flee, and he was fleeing.

This is deeply deeply awful ... all the Biden administration had to do was make a phone call to get an American citizen out of that hell. It's beyond disgraceful: Biden should be prosecuted as a murderer and traitor.

Gonzalo was not pro Ukraine, therefore Brandon was never going to lift a stinking finger to help him.

Both Brandon and Boris have the blood of tens of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian men on their hands.

and of millions of others

Expand full comment

Good point; that had not crossed my mind.

Expand full comment

Make it hundreds of thousands, and not just men. I have just heard 150k women uniforms were ordered. In the Ukraruine, over one million SIM cards went dead over the last two years.

Horrendous.

At this point, I have to wonder if the total depopulation of Ukraine was, or is now, the actual desired outcome.

Given Zelensky's willingness to blithely send hundreds of thousands to be killed and Brandons party destroying America and stealing money like there's no tomorrow, then maybe they know something that we minions are not allowed to know.

My thought on Day 1. Actually, even before, when McCain, Nuland and cohorts instigated the takeover in 2014. Stay tuned going forward, and watch who takes over.

I was unfortunately still asleep in 2014 and believed that the trouble was Ukraines desire to join Europe, not some fabricated agenda by the US war machine.

Absolutely horrific!! Just the other day, I watched a Duran interview w/Gonzalo's father. It did not sound good. I feared he was being tortured. Gonzalo was truly brave to stay in Ukraine and report the truth about what was going on--he knew it was a gangster state, and that Zelensky was the puppet of Jewish oligarch Kolomoisky, who basically operated like a gangster.

RIP Gonzalo!!

He knew they could disappear him:

Expand full comment

Why do you feel it necessary to call Kolomoiky Jewish? The Luciferian Brotherhood are the real puppeteers. Why don't you identify everyone loyal to the WEF (the global capitalist class) as Luciferian?

Expand full comment

Because he's Jewish? You know, it's not a crime or an insult to call somebody Jewish. Jews are quite proud of being Jewish. And I have no knowledge of Kolomoisky being affiliated with the WEF- he's a Jewish oligarch who operates like a hard-core gangster and has Ukrainian, Israeli and Cypriot citizenship. I also have no knowledge of who/what he worships. But I think it's interesting and important to note that Ukraine, where the US govt has sent over $100 billion is run by Jewish oligarchs who operate as gangsters. Nobody seems to know where all the money has gone. And the US govt also gives billions to Israel, which we are repeatedly told is the "Jewish state," though many Jews disagree. US foreign policy is basically run by Neocon Jews (again, it's not an insult or crime to say someone is Jewish): Blinken, NeoCon Victoria Nuland (married to Kagan, architect of the Iraq war), and Wendy Sherman. So, I'm noticing a pattern and wondering if our foreign policy is being run by this specific ethnic/religious group (Jews) to benefit their ethnic/religious group rather than to benefit the American people.

Brian Berletic of the New Atlas, 1/12/2024:

Gonzalo Lira reported dead in Ukrainian prison from prolonged, untreated illness.

Those in the West who smeared him, or cast doubt on his story and encouraged people to ignore his plight are as complicit in his death as the Ukrainian administration who wrongfully imprisoned him and Ukraine's Western sponsors who knew he was wrongfully imprisoned and did nothing to release him including the US of which he was a citizen.

This isn't "infotainment." This is real. Standing up to the worst people on Earth has consequences.

It was Gonzalo Lira today, it can be any one of us tomorrow.

Thoughts and prayers to Gonzalo's family, including his young children who will grow up now, knowing Gonzalo only by watching him in videos speak up couragously against the worst people on Earth.

Thanks for posting. I completely agree. Gonzalo was truly courageous--he knew the brutality of the Ukrainian govt and oligarchs, but he spoke out anyway.

fwiw- I just found this write up from Gonzalo 7/31/23 when he was going to the border. He explains everything that happened in the 3 prior months

I was on Telegram on Robin Monotti and Cory Morningstar channel and they were featuring a piece on Gonzalo and posted this excellent interview:

I was halfway listening to it when a post rolled in from another channel that he had passed. I am so saddened by this!

I truly hope Scott Ritter and his ilk bear some responsibility for what has happened to Gonzalo. They should hang their heads in deep shame and remorse.

My heart breaks for the Lira family 💔

Expand full comment

How is Scott Ritter to blame for the any of this?

Expand full comment

Scott definitely cast doubt on what happened to Gonzalo at the end. He was apparently suspicious that Gonzalo made 3 videos about his plan to get to the border. Gonzalo knew that if he made his court date, the Ukrainian govt would toss him in prison, so he decided to try and sneak past the border, and he basically said so on his last videos. I think Scott thought it was suspicious, that Gonzalo was doing it for attention, and was going to disappear and write a book about all of it. I didn't find Gonzalo's last videos suspicious at all--I think he was truly terrified (knew if he made his court date that would be the end) and in a panic, and he didn't have any options. I don't think he had anyone there who could help him (he already sent his wife and kids to safety out of the country). It's all so incredibly tragic.

I agree with your assessment.

He called Lira out as an SBU agent

If Scott did state that, then clearly he/was wrong. It makes no sense. What would be the purpose of someone playing the role of a Russian apologist within the fascist state of Ukraine and be really part of the SBU? I really don’t get all theseintelligence/double agent/ propaganda tools, but...

If I am not mistaken, Scott Ritter said Ukraine is winning. I maybe only listened to a couple of minutes, a month or two ago.

No Ritter knew from the start that Russia would win the war. He has a substack if you can find it and see how he always thought that.

Thanks Sam, I was totally mistaken.

I've never heard him say that, and I've watched a lot of his videos. He's been talking about Russia winning for a long time. If anything, Scott's error is more in the other direction, of saying it's over for Ukraine for quite a while, but yet the slaughter kept going.

Where I live, there is a house which has Ukrainian flags strung across the front. They've been up so long they are very faded, but there may be some new ones. I assume whom ever lives there are of Ukrainian dissent.

Yes, some of those Ukranian flag bearers may we be of Ukranian descent. Most I saw here where I live, were folks just virtue signaling because they believed the Russia, Russia, Russia narrative.

it is so antithetical to me to put a 'like', as a 'heart' on this post when my heart is breaking at the news that gonzalo lira has died so horribly in the unkranian prison. meanwhile people on 'nextdoor' are posting shaming tattles on people's dogs pooping on their property when there is so much real s*it going on in the 'neighborhood' of planet earth. to the spirit of gonzalo, "thank you for your bravery and dedication to real journalism. please never feel you have died in vain. at least now you are free. much love and consolation to your family.

I had a post taken down on Nextdoor around the time the CV jabs were rolling out where there were actually people in my town that were panic struck that there wasn’t enough of the jabs and they had been at the clinic or wherever they went to get this gene modification (oops, gene therapy) novel injection at 6AM. I suggested they might want to stop panicking and use the lost time to do a little research about their decision making. I was told by someone that then deleted my post that they didn’t want any of my conspiracy crap on that forum. Crazy stuff.

Nextdoor is toxic--I was highly suspicious of it as soon as it rolled out (here, where I am, it was during covid) and it made me feel like I was living in a police state. There were even posts on there from the govt warning about "disinfo" on covid etc. And the people posting on there apparently love US govt tyranny.

Hi Celia, Gonzalo's problem is he went to the Julian Assange School of Journalism, and official propaganda mouthpieces aren't super keen about that.

People probably called you suicidal as well for pursuing your "Does HIV really caused AIDS" line of reporting. You were at high-risk of your battleship hitting the Duesberg with your investigations into the whole super-billion dollar AIDS disaster. Celia, look, you ARE Gonzalo Lira. You looked down the barrel of a multi-billion dollar scam. Guess what? Gonzo looked down the barrel of a multi-billion dollar scam. Please don't ever call him suicidal again. In this age of soy-boys afraid of their shadows, he stood out as the rarest of the rare. Someone who was in arena and called it as he saw it, despite the price. Sounds like someone I know....

I wrote about him in this Substack post:

My heart breaks from this news; however, this is not an isolated instance in an isolate state. This is the way of the free world. Let us condemn this instance but never forget Assange is dying in a UK prison, Snowden is exiled (running for his life), journalists are killed and targeted by Israel (not just the most recent, Dahdouh case), false charges of insurrection are used to imprison opposition support, the legal system is used as a tool for thwarting political processes. This is just a small sample of what our democracies look like today.

So mourn now, for that is an important human ritual, but, we must not let the pain from this instance bury the fact this is a process of journalistic persecution, that, is on going and others are dying. Their crime was trying to show us the wizards behind the curtains manipulating the murderous machines of state and churns out lies that we are force fed by the multitudes of bought and paid for presstitutes.

If I had a wish, based on this horrendous instance, it would be please do not allow us to memory hole the sacrifices of truth tellers once the pain from this instance subsides.

If we let it slide, the emboldened tyrants will double down. The next will be total control of speech for everyone who dares to disagree. This is already well on the way. The gulags are up and running for all of us, in the lands of the free.
