just swim!

you immediately regulate your breathing and your body's rhythms take over.

I swim twice a week, it's a form of moving meditation for me!

Understood.

Biking, walking, rowing, yoga, or working out do the same for me.

Same, runner here, and row, too + yoga sprinkled in! It's so soothing and animal-y, really, to move through nature and space....

"It's so soothing and animal-y,..."

Yes—Love this!

I know. Swimming is so appealing. But it's the driving there, wrestling with putting on the suit (harder for those of us with more than a smidgeon of accumulated flab), leaping into the cold pool, trying to wiggle out of the soggy swimsuit (you men have it much easier), toweling off, drying hair, getting dressed, driving home. For me in total, well over 2 hours. Hmmmm ... now if I win the lottery ...

I hear you. Took me a minute to get my "system" dialed in with swim bag, accessories, etc. Whenever I've moved, I take distance to the closest pool into consideration! Walks in the neighborhood and nearby trails are very rewarding, too; only require daylight and good shoes. Being outside is my heart, so I'll do anything it takes, even in rain. I also like the gym to just space out and move! Hope you can find or have found what works for your body, interest and time, Donna!

There are other exercises you can do.

Yoga requires a mat although you can do yoga without one.

And walking is great exercise!

Find 45 minutes to one hour each day and fill it with some physical activity.

You'll feel great.

Great idea!

Running, rowing, biking, doing calisthenics, and yoga are also great ways to start the day.

I did do that for awhile but got scared off boy the reek of chlorine that was still coming off my body days after the last immersion in the pool. Nice if you have clean water nearby.

Expand full comment

I hear you! I hop into dry saunas at gyms as much as I can to get the chlorine out. And shower asap after. I keep a pretty healthy lifestyle so kinda "take the hit," but it's a real thing to contend with- or altogether skip! I get it! Saline, salt or ozone-treated pools are the best, or natural clean water anywhere, i.e., lakes, spring-fed ponds and the ocean.

I know things are going well when one of my morning premonitions shows up in your article, Celia... Wim Hof was inspiring me this morning... cold water is a great way to reach some deep places both breathing-wise and emotionally, to say the least. It's... interesting to think of how the slowness of the vibration of the molecules are in cold water when it's still just this clear wet fun stuff flowing (I'm a Pisces Rising, so, water = fun) - and it's the same thing when it's hot but it's ... you see? It's easy to miss these cool things, but, yeah, thanks Wim! ^^

I'm a Pisces rising, too + Scorpio moon, so all things water are home to me! Totally get it:)!

Hey! Pisces Tribe! What up! Our Eleventh House is Lit up (whole sign) with all this Cappy action! Woosah - I have a Libra Sun (born on the Equinox) 00* Libra - the funny thing is I read you say you have the Scorpio Moon and I'm laughing because last night my bassist is over here and he's got a Scorpio Moon and it's a huge part of our whole thing (Ninth house for us Pisces Risings) and chart after chart after chart last night of relevant to our purposes came to be the same Scorpio Moon at the same set of degrees - [I'm a Leo Moon of the 'Great American Eclipse of Aug 21, 2017 fame! My Moon is on the Royal Star Regulus [roar.] and is 28° which is the same Fixed Sign (like both of ours - and by the way while I'm going on here because this is how we do - The Lovers tarot by Pixie - that's one Pamela Coleman Smith - the Gabriel Lovers Eros Angel hides a Lion and an Eagle in its robes - thus signifying both Leo and Scorpio and these are important because fixed fire and fixed water are alchemically important to the generation of all things - thusly it being said in some texts that Leo and Scorpio are the 'two most powerful signs' - I'll leave that for others to comprehend in their own time, I now return to) the same Fixed Sign Moon which caused that very Great American Eclipse... more to come, but it's always welcome to find a fellow Pisces Rising reader of Celia. Happy to Meet You! I'm Nathan Lee! I'm not a Nathan, but a Nathan Lee! I was going to share this with Celia and her readers at some point, so, I really might as well now, since, time is getting on and I've just had a lot to write here so I'll just throw this here in the case that you might Malika enjoy this one minute insight in to how I see some things - for a Pisces Rising, for sure, you will likely really enjoy this brief concept [as it tiese back around to quelling anxiety per the title of this article (see how I did that?)... lovely to read your note... well met! ^^

also putting your face( snout) in cold water turns on your mammalian diving reflex which slows heart rate immediately.

so does rubbing he back of our ears from base to tip. you simply cannot feel any anxiety while doing that. ( mamma animals grooming their young!)

There are many amazing breathwork teachers out there. My favourite is the South African Dr that runs the "Breathwork Cafe".

As a yoga teacher, I am always partial to including breathwork in practice, in fact, yoga practice can be as simple as breathwork and Savasana and the profound effects on the neurotransmitters and hormones are exceptional!

I feel ALL of those ALL THE TIME. I’ve now gotten to the point where when I feel happy and relaxed I need to throw up…JK, kind of.

Love Wim, been a fan since I saw him on Joe Rogan, truly inspiring.
