It seems as though it is someone who is a native English speaker, and likely to be part of one of the intelligence services. I wonder what would be the point of setting up a fake account though? Are they trying to lure someone else in?
The reason they used an "internet photo" is because any new photo (unless you have a Pentax-K-1000, some 100 ASA film and a developing kit) taken is going to have meta data including ip based locations and time stamps in it.
He absolutely would NOT contact people close to him because they'd BOTH be compromised and then they'd ALL be in danger.
Is it legit? I'm with Celia, at this point who knows but the fact that there is no personal contact or fresh photo if anything, sways the answer towards legit.
Ok, looks like we were all correct. Gonzalo has resurfaced (see his live-stream on Duran) - after being taken by the SBU on 15 Apr. He does not have his phone or computer (& still does not have access to his accounts), and said that any post on any of his channels after 15 Apr was not him.
But it is very good news. Thank God!
And there are still many people missing, in worse circumstances (as Gonzalo has said).
It's fake. Gonzalo would get in touch with certain trusted individuals privately immediately. He hasn't. Enough said.
2 days ago had contact from Liras Telegram, and whoever has it was asking me to do sign up to a crypto exchange, So Nope, someone has his phone.
Really does seem fake. The syntax seems off and the stock profile and background photo give it away.
