Very bloodthirsty! But then so is their national anthem. "Aux armes les citoyens! Qu'un sang impur, abreuve nos sillons!"

Celia: The propaganda songs by "Charlie & his orchestra" are GR8. Also the Nordic Resistance Movement marching song using the tune of Horst Wessel is beautiful

Celia, there is something very prophetic about the song and you posting about the French as of late. Very timely. We should keep France(and Europe) in our prayers. Thank you, loved it.

I have close contacts with a French family of soldiers, chevaliers and pilots from Lorraine, but never heard this one before. Of course En passant par la Lorraine avec mes sabots dondaine and Aupres de ma blonde are favourites as Marlene´s on both fighting sides very popular theme! Nothing like it!

Is the singer in this recording actually Anna Marly? I cannot determine that from the YouTube comments section.

Speaking of battle songs, I love Edith Piaf's version of the revolutionary song "Ça ira", where she as a spirited revolutionary sings boldly with brio and conviction, "The aristocrats to the lamp posts."
