May I recommend this wonderful blog by homeopath Joette Calabrese:

https://joettecalabrese.com/blog/ultimate-remedies-for-strep-throat-and-enlarged-tonsils/

She posts homeopathic remedies for pretty much every condition. It's invaluable. Over the years I have learnt enough never to have to trouble the doctor.

In all cases, the body heals itself or it doesn't heal at all. All we can do is help to guide it by giving it the tools it needs to heal.

The body has two systems in constant opposition and flux to each other. Your blood needs to clot but it also needs to flow unimpeded. You need to get excited when a lion is chasing you and you need to calm down when you get away. Your muscles need periods of rest and periods of exertion. Breathe in, breathe out. Call it ying and yang, sympathetic/ parasympathetic, whatever, it doesn't matter. The point is both opposing systems need to be fully operational and in equilibrium.

Modern medicine sees one side hobbled and reaches equilibrium by hobbling the other side! "You're too anxious? Here, take this pill that shuts down your ability to get excited." Heartburn? Take this pill that shuts down your ability to make stomach acid. It's not the way to health.

“Modern medicine sees one side hobbled and reaches equilibrium by hobbling the other side!”...So well stated - thank you!!

Thank you, Celia! I love Barbara O'Neill. I have taken this approach to my own health; that is, being made in the image and likeness of God, my body knows what it's doing and its natural state is health, which includes being free of pain. I've stayed away from doctors for decades and am all the better for it. (I only worry about injury, which might bring about the need for a "white coat," which I dread, of course. :) )

Not saying Barbara is God, nor does she pretend to be. But I have more trust in this former psychiatric nurse than I have in our medical community. A big reason is because she trusts in the Lord and in his scriptures as she works with others to heal the body naturally. Thanks for sharing, Celia Farber :) (btw, Barbara was banned from Australia for her methods - makes me think she’s over the target of what “they” don’t want us to hit)

I love this Celia! Absolutely AMAZING!

Edgar Cayce used castor oil packs for healing as well, which Barbara does.

Humanity must get back to NATURE FOR HEALING! I noticed that Barbara prayed over the ailment, also. God has given us perfect bodies...and ways to heal our bodies.

The “medical cartel” has censored so much of this for the almighty dollar, and look at where we are now!

A couple of years ago I started juicing a grapefruit every morning mixing the wonderful herb kratom with it. The grapefruit boosts the herb and masks it bitter taste. Since then my blood pressure has stayed normal and I haven’t gotten sick once.

There must be something powerful in grapefruit that messes with the effective of certain medications, or so I was told by my sister

Is kratom used for lowering BP?

Expand full comment

Not to my knowledge. Kratom is a miracle plant that grows in SE Asia and has numerous benefits. Many use it for pain relief, as a mild stimulant or to help with anxiety or depression. I discovered it 7 years ago just before the DEA attempted to ban it per the FDA recommendation. But the large community of kratom consumers fought back and the DEA actually refused to reschedule it. But the battle to keep it legal continues. AmericanKratom.org

BTW - grapefruit is known for blood pressure stability. That’s why several BP meds state not to eat it while taking them.

"Potato is a drawer." Yes. Oksana has given birth at home all three times. The first midwife asked for potatoes after Eddie appeared. Potatoes? Yes, potatoes. An astringent. BTW, all three births went without a hitch. We had backup doctors in case there were problems, but there were not.

I'm a Barbara O'Neill fan, too! Joette Calabrese and Miranda Castro are good for information on homeopathy. My favorite herbalists are Juliette de Bairacli Levey - she doesn't give specific measurements her books, and Rosemary Gladstar. Rosemary has written many books and is a kind, enthusiastic herbalist.

Absolutely love Juliette and Rosemary. I still shop at Rosemarys Garden.

Also attended the CA School Of Herbal Studies in 2000 and 2001

I feel so blessed to have had James Snow as one of my teachers.

I enjoy watching the Oregon herbalist “she is of the woods” these days~

I haven't attended any major herbal conferences. Apparently, there is one locally, but I haven't been to it yet.

Back when I was on insta, I followed April. Is she anywhere else? I don't do fb either.

When I moved it was still winter. My spouse and one of my sons were super irritated (haha pun intended) that I made them move a giant cement planter with nettles to the new place. Well, when spring arrived wood nettles sprouted all along the drive and is in several other places on the property as well! I find it works just as well as the official stinging nettle, but I still have my nettles in a pot.

Oat tops are a favorite of mine. I'm very fortunate to have lots of medicinal plants growing wild where I live - mugwort, wild roses, lobelia, yarrow, black berries, elderberries, and bloodroot to name a few. Going into the woods and identifying plants is one of my favorite things to do.

Before I moved, I used to have a small retail herb store where I would mix herbal blends for people, make bath bombs, tinctures, room sprays, etc. It was fun, but not a way to make a living.

I've always wanted to visit Sonoma, it sounds and looks amazing! I've been to many states on the east coast and midwest, but my family never made it that far west when we went camping.

Being outside with children is the best. I do miss that.

I have herb store envy!

Lovely chatting with you. It's good to remember there are more plant people than it appears in the regular world.

Love this, thank you! Takes me right back to the days when my kids were tiddlywinks with all the accompanying dramas. Fortunately, they have never had any medical interventions and we benefited from being surrounded by a Steiner community knowledgeable and wise in anthroposophical and homeopathic approaches to healing. Apart from plenty of sprained, fractured and broken bones we rarely needed a doctor!

I’m also grateful finding this and it sends me right back to my early adulthood when I was reading back to Eden and all the natural health books I could find. Now so many years later it’s good to be reminded of those simple humble truths of nature and health. Salves the nervous system
