So, I guess the greatest scaler of all was satan, the father of lies, in the garden. Ever since there has been scaling by orders of magnitude - an attempt to deceive mankind and lead them away from the goodness of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The earth, if I understand the Bible correctly, is now an opportunity to choose between the father of lies who seeks to “kill, steal and destroy” and a God/Father who cannot lie and who wants His creation to choose life.
So people line up on either side and behave accordingly. Some are just sheep following the sheep ahead of them and have no idea what lies ahead. Others are fully aware. So here we are.

I am glad you felt peace. You often and maybe always write outside the world’s comfort zone which must weigh on you. I’ve wanted to tell you that your writing speaks to my soul in a deep place. I do not encounter that often. I am grateful.
On a lighter note, my 9yr old son has decided to become a worm farmer. I thought of you and your worms and accepted his offer of a partnership.
My personal opinion is that the way through and eventually out of this has everything to do with our relationship, or lack of relationship, with God and how we act because of that relationship or lack thereof.
What is coming will not be easy. We are just coming to terms with a plan that has been laid over a long period of time. I have hope because God will win the battle.

You prove that one need not feel so lonely in possessing these thoughts, since many feel and think alone or reside mentally in a lonely state...
Highlighting Trow along with your posts may help many who see or have had an "inkling" something is 'OFF' to realize they are not alone or 'crazy' in their assessments....
THANK YOU for the George Trow piece! I count on you to bring brilliant things like this to my awareness. I immediately printed out the entire essay and began reading and jotting notes in the margins. I had independently come to the same conclusion about television at age 18 and never tuned in again after i moved out of my parent's house. What a sigh of relief to read his words that capture what i have felt but not been able to verbalize.
Also "inspiration" might be a word to replace "download" in the context you mentioned :)
That's so amazing! I haven't had one in many years. Absolutely anything can come out of that thing once you turn it on. Case in point of course, Covid. Never could they have done it without television.
I love your description of him as a ‘gay sparkler’ and also that you are seeing so clearly and verbalizing how sometimes when telling truths we don’t know/see how to save ourselves.
I forwarded your Trow to everyone I know who I am in this with (which is really just a few, scaled ;) because it was revelational to me. Kind of like waking up one day and having all of the pieces fall from the sky and come together on the ground. It was everything I feel and have felt my whole life but could never put my finger on. What can I say? It resonated in such a large way.
Because of that, it was light for me, not dark, though I am aware that it truly is the darkest of all things to be sure. And I feel robbed of life in a way, though again, on scale!, not robbed as much as probably 90% of the rest of the world.
To find truth, though--to know you are not crazy, to have feelings and chaos now explained, to able to process madness--no matter how dark, is a relief. Perhaps it is like the mother whose child is murdered who searches desperately for answers. She knows it won't bring the child back. And it is the darkest details she seeks, but to know is better than to not know.
AL: I can't express what it means to me that you had this experience with the admittedly difficult Trow, and I feel as you do. Pieces falling into place. I now feel that wonderful sense of "not crazy," and "not off in the weeds." From Trow in 1980 to each of us here in 2023. At least we can now see it. Together we are cracking the case. Or the code. No matter what, we had to do something, about the incredible strangeness. We had to claw our way out. Will life be easier now, or harder? or the same?

Either way, the validation is well worth it. I suspect for me, a little easier. Even if I can do nothing about it, I will know why.
