Growing up I used to read Charlie Brown comics. Stick with me. There was this recurring joke, where Lucy would hold the football for Charlie Brown to kick. Every time, she would pull the ball away. Then, next time, she would convince Charlie Brown that she wouldn't do it again. Eventually she convinces him, she holds the ball, he runs in, she pulls it away again. Every single time. The joke is that Charlie Brown falls for it every time. He cannot resist trusting Lucy. He wants to trust Lucy. The world would be better if he could trust Lucy. But every single time, she fools him again. And I grew up with a sense that there was something very profound being presented here by Charles Shultz, the author, about the way America functions.
Every single time. I too had moments when I thought, this time, they aren't going to pull the ball away. Surely. Its RFK Jr. The books. The speeches. He's not going to pull the ball away. Then there were the Senate confirmation hearings and out of his mouth came several insane utterances about vaccines and safety or whatever, complete madness, but he said it. And we all went, yes, but, he's not going to pull the ball away.
I wonder if pulling the ball away might be the day he, God forbid, says vaccines don't cause autism OR vaccines are all safe effective and necessary, including mRNA. If he says that, yeah then all hope is lost and maybe it already is but as I say--I can't square the circle. That he would throw 20 years of work and suffering over a cliff. We have to follow front plot and back plots, not get intoxicated with told you so-ism. Nor with blind faith. I am keeping an eye on the Peter Marks axis.

agreed re FDA. I made another post about how concentrated power always becomes corrupt. The only solution is to dissolved the FDA and CDC and return the power they wield back to the state and local governments. But they are not going to do that. They will try to "reform" it, try to "get rid of the bad apples". The problem with that is that even if they are successful, the FDA and CDC will still retain their concentrated power and even if it's cleaned up for a time, it will eventually revert to being corrupt.
US Founders were right in wanting very limited federal government with most of the powers of government held by state and local government or by the people themselves. People are very complex. Remember that members of the Kennedy family are on the Trilateral Commission, the heart of technocracy. RFK jr may have seen himself as different from that, and agreed to work within that regime to try to change it, but then finally, when he got in or close to HHS, was ordered to fall in line in no uncertain terms, and probably a lot of compromat was called upon to do that. One day I was given tramadol with paracetamol, due to a injury in my ankle. I had a huge nightmare, so I discontinued that communistic drug.
But I remember being given cough syrup as a child, and sleeping very happily for many hours. Pure bliss. Codeine is much better than tramadol: the first one seems to be a humanitarian drug, the latter is an anti-human drug.
About consciousness and unconsciousness and entities: my inner world is so scary that no one else but me and God almighty dares to step in there and look. Childhood trauma can be like that.
I heard once a theory that I liked: normal, healthy people are always "high," but the so called addicts only experience their first high when using certain drugs. Then, the experience is over, and they want back. The person explaining this theory said that good nutrition was the key to becoming healthy and always high, like a normal human being, without exogenous drugs. It's a cool theory, IMO. Probably false, but very cool.
As for me, I experienced a high for the first time when I was eleven, while I was listening to a cassette with concertos by Vivaldi. I still remember that blessed experience when I revisit very emotional and intense music like that. Does music count as an addiction? Am I a monster for loving music more than people?

I had a similar experience listening to Tales from Topographic Oceans in the dark as a teenager. Although Rick Wakeman criticized the album as being composed of "filler." The truth is that addiction isn't a choice. We DISCOVER that we're addicted. The onus is then on us, should we decide we want to survive, to do something about it. 12 Steps saved my life. The recovery community did too. God's intervention in my life, through 12 Step rooms and community, ended my addiction on Day One. Then, my spiritual development eventually (7 years later) led me to Christ. 33 years of freedom from addiction has been a blessing. Don't judge Addicts. They just don't know what they don't know yet.

My opinion is that what is known as addiction is a feature of the human experience: we just want to repeat whatever we like to do. Just as much as we don't want to repeat what we dislike.
In the modern concept of "addiction" there is a twist: people will punish other people if they enjoy themselves in non-approved ways. Naturally, the persecuted don't want such punishment. Their valuation of the formerly enjoyable activity has changed. Thus, they experience a painful contradiction: they want to repeat something that is associated with shame, humiliation, rejection and other forms of punishment. They want something they must not want. Not fun at all.

The only solution is to dissolved the FDA and CDC and return the power they wield back to the state and local governments. But they are not going to do that. They will try to "reform" it, try to "get rid of the bad apples". The problem with that is that even if they are successful, the FDA and CDC will still retain their concentrated power and even if it's cleaned up for a time, it will eventually revert to being corrupt.

People are very complex. Remember that members of the Kennedy family are on the Trilateral Commission, the heart of technocracy. One day I was given tramadol with paracetamol, due to a injury in my ankle. I had a huge nightmare, so I discontinued that communistic drug.
But I remember being given cough syrup as a child, and sleeping very happily for many hours. Pure bliss. Codeine is much better than tramadol: the first one seems to be a humanitarian drug, the latter is an anti-human drug.
About consciousness and unconsciousness and entities: my inner world is so scary that no one else but me and God almighty dares to step in there and look. Childhood trauma can be like that.
I heard once a theory that I liked: normal, healthy people are always "high," but the so called addicts only experience their first high when using certain drugs. Then, the experience is over, and they want back. The person explaining this theory said that good nutrition was the key to becoming healthy and always high, like a normal human being, without exogenous drugs. It's a cool theory, IMO. Probably false, but very cool.
As for me, I experienced a high for the first time when I was eleven, while I was listening to a cassette with concertos by Vivaldi. I still remember that blessed experience when I revisit very emotional and intense music like that. Does music count as an addiction? Am I a monster for loving music more than people?

I had a similar experience listening to Tales from Topographic Oceans in the dark as a teenager. Although Rick Wakeman criticized the album as being composed of "filler." Vivaldi's music has never given me what I'd describe as a "high", but I do find it delightful. I have a boxed set of over 20 CD of his work, and I love it all.
The truth is that addiction isn't a choice. We DISCOVER that we're addicted. The onus is then on us, should we decide we want to survive, to do something about it. 12 Steps saved my life. The recovery community did too. God's intervention in my life, through 12 Step rooms and community, ended my addiction on Day One. Then, my spiritual development eventually (7 years later) led me to Christ. 33 years of freedom from addiction has been a blessing. Don't judge Addicts. They just don't know what they don't know yet.

My opinion is that what is known as addiction is a feature of the human experience: we just want to repeat whatever we like to do. Just as much as we don't want to repeat what we dislike.
In the modern concept of "addiction" there is a twist: people will punish other people if they enjoy themselves in non-approved ways. Naturally, the persecuted don't want such punishment. Their valuation of the formerly enjoyable activity has changed. Thus, they experience a painful contradiction: they want to repeat something that is associated with shame, humiliation, rejection and other forms of punishment. They want something they must not want. Not fun at all.

In the last week I found out two of my cousins 'died suddenly' as well as two of my classmates, who died suddenly. A friend of mine's son also 'died suddenly.' Then I discovered that one of the smartest boys I'd known (graduated with a Ph.D. from St. Andrews in Scotland) sold out and has a lobbyist firm in D.C. and sidelines as a policy wonk for what appears to me to be the Deep State as he represents interests beyond party lines. What will next week bring?
Meanwhile I've been combing through my father-in-laws medical records. He died in 'hospice', was given the Moderna shot, a flu vaccine, and treated in the hospital for five days for a slight cough because he tested positive for Covid (after the 'vaccine,' bien sur,) where they gave him a daily IV of Remdesivir. Oddly this caused his kidneys to shut down within a year.
