A lot of ex-patriots put us up occasionally to help us save money when we went to Monrovia, and get information on what was going on in country where they were terrified to go. There was one guy who taped PC volunteers staying at his home in Monrovia, while they were using the showers. He ran co-axial cable from cameras in the bathroom, out the window and into his bedroom where the recorder was set up. He stored them on VCR tapes and labelled them "Basketball Tapes." And then there was another guy at USAID who was a 100% barely functioning alcoholic, who had another similar person working upcountry he was supposed to be supervising and that guy had "gone bush" and was lost in the sauce.
By the time I got home, I refused to continue in my degree, ever work overseas or in the complete fiction of International Aid. Several of my fellow volunteers continued on to be very successful doing just that... but knowing the insane level of corruption in "international aid", I doubt they had any long term impact, and probably hurt a lot of people instead. If anyone doubts my comments here, please read the book "Road to Hell" by Michael Maren. It was written about Save The Children in Somalia by a former Peace Corps Volunteer turned journalist. It could have been written about almost any development organization anywhere. Do not ever donate to international "aid." Even the potential recipients no longer want it.

The rationale was that the training I would receive at The Farm would be invaluable in any career... So I did apply. All I had to do was send in my resume. I never heard back.
A couple of years later, I had the opportunity to ask some folks I met in the security industry, and they told me no Peace Corps volunteers were ever 'let in' because they could not be mind controlled or programmed to serve the CIA's agenda.

There really is, but I forgot to get it in by the deadline, and then I had to submit a different form to my local SSA office (great people too) and they worked with me on the phone to get it right, and then I got enrolled anyway.
So, I've got a rapport with the folks at the local SSA office now, so I'm going to bring them some more detox info and other stuff, and re-submit all of the forms - the deadline missed one and the one they ignored... and see what happens.
It's nice to have an excuse to visit them, but I have to wait outside because the waiting area is jammed into 10 square feet (in a big open area) right by the door to force C19 contamination.
If that fails, I'll get worthless Sen Ted Budd's office involved to widen the paper trail. That route usually works with routine stuff like this that a case number can be assigned too....

I already tried that two different ways. I don't want to end up in a murderous Wall Street-owned hospital ready to harvest me under Medicare reimbursement for my organs and such...
So, now I'll follow process and take it to the next level. If the issue is simple, the agencies usually back off. In this case, I had the right to refuse Medicare Part A and I did, twice. But so much money is being made by the medical industry, that an "inside the agency" protocol of refusing to honor this kind of request is now in place. I saw shit like this when I was forced in to Obamacare for the 12 months of 2017 by the IRS, during Trump's first year in office when his handlers were thinking they might just be able to keep it going.
I have to fight to get OFF Medicare Part A, when one form to my local office should have been enough. If I can't get un-enrolling accomplished with my State Senator's caseworkers (Budd), I'll be surprised, but I think my next move after that would be a local pro se court filing against the US SSA just to explore how a citizen can address fedgov abuse through their local court system. I'm a semi-retired former executive secretary who worked on K St for IBM and attorneys for 7 years. I can screw around with this in a number of different ways... and I have legal case mgmt software now.:)))))))) so it's not hard at all...
