Before I made a change in the way I approached people I often felt unheard. That's all changed now that every time I engage I first hand out a hundred-dollar bill. And just like that they seem so interested in what I have to say :- )

Great find, Celia! This could and should be taught in our schools and modeled by our leaders! We, you and I and others, are beginning to learn this and appreciate it. This is the ultimate correction to miscommunication.

We are each separate individuals with our own backgrounds, life experiences, beliefs, fears, prejudices and more. The warmth he speaks of recognizes this, and at the same time, recognizes that we are all one, all connected. The ego mind has difficulty with this paradox, and we need to simply recognize that and step beyond that limiting view of ourselves and others.

This is way of communication an essential element on the path to peace, both within ourselves and within the greater world.

Well the first principle here IMO is to integrate these principles and ways of interacting in oneself.

And then one’s ideas and behavior in regard to those ideas and behaviors can radiate out onto all.

To say that “this is what should be taught in schools and modeled by our leaders” cannot happen until it starts with within each one of us and radiates out onto The Collective. 🙏🏻

If ya can't bamboozle 'em with bullshit then kill 'em with kindness. Am I getting close?

Alright, so the message is not really about being nice since nice is mostly about accommodation.

This method is the way forward toward a better world. Stop the divisiveness !

My generation, me included, has much to learn but teaching new 'tricks' to old fossils ain't easy.

More recently I've been addressing my siblings in like manner of the "Lawyer" and I think they find it a bit disorienting.

Nice response, Mo. We know it’s not about bamboozling them with bullshit or killing them with kindness. It’s not about winning or losing, but about communication, about a community of humans.

It is about accommodation in the sense that we accept, recognize, respect, and honor each individual that we encounter and communicate with, because we’re all in this Unfathomable soup together.

Then it’s bound to be a bit disorienting because we have been oriented in an entirely different direction.

Jim Morrison sang, "I been down so damn long that it looks like up to me". I'm guessing "down" was a better fit, lyrically speaking, than "disoriented"

"teaching new tricks to old fossils ain't easy", but it ain't impossible, either, speaking from well-fossilized experience. For me it's absolutely necessary...ridiculous to carry on as before when truly seeing and understanding the errors of my ways, which now happens relentlessly, thank God.

Re: your heading in bold letters: "Lose the urge to argue or dominate, and don't think you always need to say something." Yes, just figuring this out now amidst frequent about-to-send texts or emails which I then erase backwards, mostly written out of communicating my rightness or offering some bit of truth I know is not seen or wanted but not accepting that. Waste of energy, lack of respect and misguided communication, no matter how much you love the person.

Although it is irrelevant for the solution, I wonder what caused the patent loss in communication between humans.

I know some people would put all the blame on videogames.

However, I think one big factor was the sabotage of the reward-punishment system. One little example of that: in nature, we see that animals learn to respect each other's space by interaction and trial and error, but civilized humans are conditioned to always expect verbal norms instead, sometimes conveyed through symbols, and these norms are intended to be rational but often contradict each other, causing confusion and fear, and then people awkwardly freeze in place, like a Finn.

In a blatant parody of myself, I would say that we should put all the blame on the videogame called "communism."

It's difficult to live, be in diversity in a society that encourages homogeny.

Excellent practical advice. Next time someone tells me viruses don't exist and deny my lived and documented experiences with childhood viral infection that gave me lifetime immunity, foot warts from that girl in swim class, and herpes simplex eye infections that respond beautifully to antiviral eye medicine drops, I won't rise to the bait. I'll wait until I have a raging cold sore, tell them they are right and I am wrong, and I will kiss them sloppily.
