Celia, while you don't like the Star of David on the forehead of one of the subjects, it's actually truth in advertising. Almost the entirety of the Frankfurt School is Jewish. I think Habermas was the only Gentile. If the Frankfurt School were 99% comprised of, say, Africans, would there be any thought of, let alone objection to, the presence of the red-black-green pan-African flag? It's amazing how triggered we have become by the slightest hint of "anti-semitism."

I have long liked the following video about the Frankfurt School because it goes into the psychology of its members and how insidious their personal neuroses insinuated itself into the American psyche in dangerous political ways. Note at 7:10 a reference that almost all the Frankfurt intellectuals were Jewish.

Cat, let me try to present my argument against the star of David as graphics: It plays into the notion of "stigmatizing" and "branding." It does not help, and it can be frankly traumatizing.

I mean for Jewish people, to see that. Do we need it?

If I write about the Frankfurters and say they were Jewish, I am not wrong. But when the star is on the forehead, it seems to me it only adds grist to the mill that anti-semitism is the REAL problem. And then I have to fight THAT before I can talk about what these dreadful people did. It seems a poor strategy. In any case, I think the Jesuits drive history.

Expand full comment

In this context, the Star of David on the forehead looks like a branding, etched into the flesh of the man in the photo. The message conveyed this way is symbolically violent and unnecessary. Consider instead if the symbol was beside or behind him, an indication that he was Jewish without the implied violence of branding.

it is true that "noticing" does agitate people, especially Jews, but concern for people's feelings should not undermine suppression of facts, be they semiotically delivered or otherwise.

I don't know what exactly you mean by "Jesuits drive history." Although it's a long conversation beyond what should be reasonably discussed in a comments thread, you surely aren't suggesting Jesuits are the ones at the top of the food chain actively trying to frog-march humanity into the New World Order, are you?

In any event, I have to say that the prospect that "anti-semitism is the REAL problem" is not how I would frame the pressing concern. IMO, the real problem is Jewish Power/Jewish Supremacism as I spell out in the article linked below.

BTW, Celia, I soooooooo admire and appreciate your ability to engage in difficult subjects throughout your channel without ever resorting to ad hominems, blocking, or pettiness.

Cat: I would like to have a chance to answer your question with a series of pieces and I don't ask that you "agree" now, only that you accept that substantiating materials are forthcoming. And by "anti-semitism is the REAL problem" I was invoking the voice of the people who try to shut down history. The people who collect images like this one and draw enormous funding and cultural power from always claiming anti-semitism is rearing its head. I don't want to walk into those traps.

Cat, to radically simplify, no pun intended: The same people who insist, in my circles, that I wake up fully to the Jewishness in it all…have mostly identified all their lives as being "on the left" and or, basically of a Marxist persuasion. You and Colleen have told me this about your own intellectual history, but correct me if I'm wrong. So if it's Marxist, Marcus-ian, Frankfurt-ian AND it's "Jewish" (in an atheist vein) then we are both right, but which is foremost as "cause?" Marxist ideology or Jewishness? If I concede that "it's all the Jews" would you concede that the Jews in question were driven by Frankfurtian Marxism? Where is our disagreement? I'm lost. It's Marxism that has to be exposed and rejected. Do we agree about that? I think we agree. Tell me what I am not seeing.

Jesus Christ was Jewish, so what? It's how an individual thinks and behaves that matters, not their ethnicity or religion. I can condemn Marcuse and Adorno for what I consider their satanic beliefs and teachings, but I criticize them as individuals, and if they happen to be Jewish, that is incidental to their actions. To identify and condemn individuals in group terms is the same damn Marxist shit the left does with their identity politics.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I read such group condemnation comments is that the writer is an idiot. Thanks for bringing this history to the surface. I am old enough to have been at the beginning of the Frankfurt School programming. I really got hit big time with the essential need to hate myself as a person from a rural area, from the wrong religion (christianity), and from the wrong race (white). I was told to not marry, not have kids, and that very soon a marvelous revolution would take place. Except the revolution never came and the people who promoted it (the forehead shows it) went from hippie to yuppie, moved into gated communities.. the rest is history.

Odd timing as I am in the midst of writing a Substack on Political Correctness, among other things. I have a B.A. and an M.A. in American literature so I had to confront this beast head on--in the 80s when it really hit academia. It made me apoplectic. the PhD I worked with at the record store lectured me continually on Adorno and Marcuse and even gave me one of their books!

I was required to utilize critical theory in writing papers. I resisted any and all critiques because they were so clearly limited. One either had to use feminist critique or Marxist critique or structuralist, etc.,so sometimes my papers would be about why all these critiques were invalid. It was clearly used to undercut the actual study of literature--just as women's studies and queer studies undercut actual identities.

yes. i'm getting it now too. great info confirming my own entrance to it via james lindsay.

you haven't commented on the role the fabians are playing in this. i think that they are also critically important, they have an even longer game plan than the more overt 'marxists'. for example, in a recent video i commented on this same topic:

uk pm kier starmer is a fabian, which is significant because very likely he lives by their (past?) motto 'wolf in sheep's clothing.' (current motto is 'when i strike i strike hard' stated by a tortoise.)

lying is the fabian truth towards the triumph of the smart over the stupid — the smart being them, of course, and the stupid everyone else. by natural extension hypocrisy is their weapon to help them re-invent, 'hammer out from the old', the world into their great reset version of their singular truth: smart ruling over the less smart, and the truly unworthy are to be euthanised for the betterment of the society.

"Every single Labour prime minister has been a Fabian and if Labour wins in July Keir Starmer [he won] will join their ranks. Keir was a Fabian before he was elected to parliament, and served on our executive committee. In 2021, he wrote The Road Ahead, a Fabian pamphlet setting out his vision of a fairer, more secure and prosperous Britain, built on Labour values."

https://fabians.org.uk/on-the-horizon/

and:

"Fabian Society publishes ‘The Road Ahead’ by Keir Starmer MP"

https://fabians.org.uk/fabian-society-publishes-the-road-ahead-by-keir-starmer-mp/

so, it becomes more obvious why the pm's of the uk promise things and then not deliver: they are being fabian wolves in sheep's clothing. political hypocrisy is fabian de rigueur. and from their perspective as the benevolent smart ones their success at being re-elected despite their political hypocrisy is a kind of confirmation of the fabian perception of the general 'stupidity' of people. people continue to elect wolves who have openly stated that their goal is the violent and forceful reset of the world. for example, g.b. shaw designed and had made the fabian window. in the imagery he is depicted as one of two 'great' people wielding hammers that are reforming an earth glowing hot after being in the fire!

at the london school of economics, founded by the fabians, it is proudly averred!

"Hammering out a new world – the Fabian Window at LSE"

https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/lsehistory/2017/09/13/hammering-out-a-new-world-the-fabian-window-at-lse/

a full view of the window and its 'meaning' is here:

https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2005/english-literature-history-l05407/lot.323.html

also, shaw is quoted as saying, for example:

"You must all know half a dozen people at least who are no use in this world, who are more trouble than they are worth. Just put them there and say Sir, or Madam, now will you be kind enough to justify your existence? If you can’t justify your existence, if you’re not pulling your weight in the social boat, if you’re not producing as much as you consume or perhaps a little more, then, clearly, we cannot use the organizations of our society for the purpose of keeping you alive, because your life does not benefit us and it can’t be of very much use to yourself."

and

james lindsay talks about the fabians within the context of the marxist movement you discussed here and more. and he commented on shaw's open and active zeal for eugenics and their common intent with the marxists, although the fabians were critical of the means of the marxists, not their intention. lindsay also references to the really horrific public statements shaw makes in support of eugenics:

Given its emphasis on culture rather than class struggle, it is little wonder why the U.S. ruling class--and its attendant institutions in both academia and the Deep State--found utility in fostering this corrosive dogma as a means to both neutralize the revolutionary potential of the working class and fracture society as a whole along ever increasingly sectarian lines revolving around a veritable "oppression olympics". Pity that this video excerpt failed to mention Mr. Marcuse's connection to the OSS, the precursor to the CIA.

In addition; it should be noted that Columbia University was an early incubator of another school of thought that existed alongside the Frankfurt School during the 1930's: Technocracy

The math term "Simplication " which kind of explains it all in one theorym , was coined in 1930 .

Listening to the vid , it is very good to learn from .

People raised within systems , be they religion , familial , or geogrphical ( People raised on islands ) see the only way out is via the energy accessed by another person from an alternate "universe" - In the movie Castaway , the man isolated on the island needed outside help , in the form of the idea of wings , to actually exit his destiny . When a child is raised inside the meaning of the word impossible , they usually see the need to dominate and imprison , and sometimes kill a person who has the "impossible " that they so intensely crave . The reason why capitalism freaks people out so much , is that it is a field of unlimited growth , and it actually breaks down the system of absolutes that the psychology of the trapped human believes is "that is how life is , " Mathematically , the word " Simplication " was invented in 1930's , and this simplication is exactly the technique utilized on growing or impressionable humans , to trap them inside of their own skin , with their own skin . Add that to the Dewey Decimal System , and -- ugh . What I am saying is that once put into a mind prison , the prisoner sees the only way out , is by replacing his own self in the cell , with a victim , and then , taking on the life of the jailer , and escaping the cell that he was born into . The tiger rarely just walks out of the cage door that was accidentaly left open for a moment by his zoo keeper -- he usually feels the need to kill the hand that was feeding him , on his way out back to the jungle . This projection of entrapment is what has been going on in the psychosphere screaming such crazy things at the figurehead of DJT , they need their entrapment to have a reality base , because what was done to them was so insidious , it started about five generations prior . The murderous urge is actually a symptom of psycopathy - the infant capable of biting the mother's breast to eat , and never ever weaned . Why the orientation of this political movement is always AGAINST the surrounding situation . It is not inventive , creative , or even reactive , it is no different than a infant kicking the mother's belly from the inside . I really DO believe it is important to understand the psychology , because they are gathering into a great big force field ' Lefties losing it " style , and unless they are taken seriously , and are revealed as seriously delayed in their frozen development , we will be negatively affected by this movement .

Expand full comment

This bears further examination, thanks for going 'deeper than normal' (as far as comments usually go) into this topic. After being taken seriously (assuming it may be at some point) and revealed as a very detrimental arrested development issue, what would you suggest as a potentially successful way to deal with this type of societal issue that might (hopefully) re-start some continued development (if such a thing is possible for adults who are already well entrenched in a belief system)....

Expand full comment

Hey Free Human , even your tag line is on topic . It really does all get down to child rearing practices of the 20th century . The deal is , that when the mind is logical based , left brain , if it hits a wall , it thinks it is about to expire . Thus , the shaving , screaming , yelling , and threats of no more men , no more sex , and I am leaving the USA -- because a wall got hit of " my vote did not win. " See , that is the entire logic behind abortions of convenience , and also , the logic behind - to be perfectly honest , I am a man in a woman's body , or I am a woman in a man's body . It is Concept vs . Biology . Rising up to consciousness is not a mass event , and when it is a mass event , it can look like a Billy Grahm Tent Meeting , and it can look like Jim Jones in Guyana - and neither way will get you there . So on the individual level , there are many kinds of therapy - - starting with looking in the mirror . But these poor people look into the television set instead of the mirror , and this is going to put them into a never ending loop . ( Look up the work of Nam June Paik , the existential artist , all about the boob tube . ) I grew up in a home with no television set , and nursed my children and did not send them to school - ocean , free play , and liberty as could be afforded . Staying out of addictive feedback loops , where the information you get is actually not about you , and working on conscious feedback loops , where the interaction you experience is actually biologically and mentally healthy , is the only way out of physical stagnation or blockaded emotions . I have to comment though , that there are just as many confused supporters of the Trump story , as there are confused detractors . You can see the derangement in both the positive and the negative . It is non centered and unserious . The answer is not and never will be "Out There " - as long as I am on a roll, the light of christ , the heart light shining and illuminating the imaginarium , the human pre frontal cortex , a place where time and space are non linear , will purify thoughts and feelings and allow for true progression . One individual at a time , one step at a time , one moment at a time .

Has anyone here read Allan Bloom's 1987 book "The Closing of the American Mind?" Although I am far more on board with the idea of a conspiratorial Committee of 300/Masonic/Club of Rome type plan is responsible for many of America's ills, I believe Bloom's book provides a non-conspiratorial explanation of how a university-academically-inspired post-modern worldview taking over all of America's institutions also explains what has occurred in America, especially since the 1960s. I'd love to engage with anyone here who has read that book and feels it a potential explanation for what is occurring in America with "woke" and everything neo-Marxist.

Here's a source quote for saying that Allen Bloom was a pedophile from a 2004 book critical of Leo Strauss and his empire ambitions: "...The rumors of houseboys in sexual servitude, the evident flirtations with students, Bloom's flamboyantly queenly manner made 'The Closing of the American Mind' read as high hypocrisy and awakened the old charges of secret teachings now coupled with perverse practices." from p 62 of pdf"Leo Strauss and the Politics of American Empire" https://www.sahistory.org.za/sites/default/files/archive-files/anne_norton_leo_strauss_and_the_politics_of_amerbook4me.org_.pdf

However it's shortcomings, I think Bloom's Closing (subtitled How Higher Education Has Failed Democracy and Impoverished the Souls of Today's Students) offers great food for thought of how modernism

blunts the spiritness of our male and female natures(or souls) by insisting on our sameness and downplaying our differences compared to how the "ancients" viewed maleness and femaleness. The Frankfort School film Celia chose informs us that @ 8:45 the Eric Fromm pioneered

the concepts of sexual liberation and gender politics that postured that male and female sexual differences came from differences in life functions which were partly socially determined(God didn't make us unique male or female, it was all due to enlightened social engineering which could inspire our gnostic liberation from outdated consciousness.) Progress is great. pdf of Bloom's The Closing of the American Mind.
