I had a week in NYC 4-11th August . after some 35 use trips ( i used to have a business there ) this was my first trip since 2019 as I wouldn't wear a mask to travel and I’m not vaccinated , thus no Travelling for me during restrictions. we took my daughter ( 16 ) on her first USA trip & NYC is the place for a teen. For convenience, we decided to stay centrally at the Hyatt Hotel Grand Central ( cant get any more touristy that that ). Right next door to Grand Central. Two blocks up, is the Roosevelt Hotel which in its heyday was a grand building. I walked by The Roosevelt several times. The Hotel Was packed with Immigrants. The payments were full of standing immigrants. This dislikable Mayor was on a Propaganda mouth trip, Live press Conference on TV pitching for more money & compassion. said the immigrants were costing the city $300 MILLION !! he was asking parents in queens/Brooklyn to understand that the football pitches that their kids practice on, needs to be converted to Immigration Housing Camps! It was infuriating just watching him applying emotional blackmail for compassion for these poor immigrants who were, according to the mayor, seeing fair opportunity & entrepreneurship blah blah in "OUR GREAT COUNTRY " & yet the shocker , every single day & night, the payments right across the Hyatt hotel was filled with USA Homeless Citizens , American Nationals, Mostly Black, who sleep on the pavements ! No Roosevelt Hotel Rooms for these American Homeless... No food handouts for these USA Homeless citizens.... No Privacy , No Hot Water, No toilet of these folks yet Roosevelt was full & this Mayor was supportive on TV.

I hated it

Illegals need to be returned to their orientation location. We are not responsible for their care.

There is a legal way to enter the FUSA. Use that!!!! Or be returned.

We need an administration that cares about Americans First, American Fist.

This will not end well. {{{{and its by design}}}}}

NEW YORKS OWN FOUL COMMUNIST DICTATED GOVT., DID THIS TO NEWYORK CITIZENS BECAUSE YOU VOTED THE TEASH IN LIKE USURPER BIDENS CLOWNS. Yeah sure. If only everyone voted for the other one, there's no way any of this would have happened. You can tell because everything gets fixed all the time when a different party takes over. There's no way that government itself creates problems on purpose to expand their necessity, their power and their budgets.

In case you don't recognize sarcasm, please let me rephrase. Every single power structure in human history becomes more and more corrupt, the longer it lasts. It does not matter who is leading it at any given time, because those who are most drawn to politics are the worst scumbag human beings, looking for endless power and money. And that's what they get and that's what we are forced to live under, regardless of the blatant and obvious illusion of choice. The very few decent human beings who think they can make a difference from within don't last because they realize there's no chance and they aren't allowed anyway.

Please evolve beyond this nonsense.

Me? No, I'm an anti-communist, on record, have addressed this quite a bit. What I am maybe guilty of is grasping at straws. I want to believe Mayor Adams will be a problem for them.

Celia, Chief's post was an un-aimed missive. I could not tell if it was meant for Sixway or you. Either way, it did not deserve a comment. You have consistently shown your stance on utopian philosophies.

It was meant for me, but that guy is a lunatic. So is anyone who thinks only one party is the problem.

You know, my father was a communist not a Republican, and as I age I wish there were more men like him. He was responsible, he supported five people, he played with us and took us lots of places, he had no problem with cooking or cleaning, and he marched against the American war in Vietnam during the 1960s though he was extremely ill with cancer. I hope your father was half as ethical.

Expand full comment

Sounds like he didn't fully understand how violent communism is. And by the way, all corrupt governments are equal garbage no matter what it's called.

Personally, I would voluntarily join a commune, but I would never force anyone to live under rulers they don't want with guns.

I think my father understood a lot more than you do. I would suggest reading Howard Fast's Being Red, a famous writer who stuck with the CPUSA because he grew up on the streets and never finked or abandoned anyone despite his many disagreements with the party.

You are very funny with that last sentence! EVERY government on Earth rules with guns, some more than others, and the U.S. is one of the worst, still committing genocide against indigenous peoples, still lynching black people, still supporting the rape and murder of women.

Great report (as usual).

We just want to say thank you so much for your commitment and tenacity in wading through the muck so that your readers are well informed and therefore able to prepare for and respond to a world that’s changing too quickly for folks to keep up with.

In an age of mass formation, mis/dis information from governments and grifters, hyper cynicism, ignorance, and apathy truth is more valuable than gold.

It’s a beautiful thing to see more and more people taking encouragement from work like yours and paying it forward by shining their light upon the darkness. Truth tellers are like salt, purifying the putrid, and preserving the pure so that evil doesn’t spread unchallenged.

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” Ephesians 5:11

Your work and it’s reverberating effect on others is a mighty encouragement and a strong reminder that no person can actually live out a worldview founded on lies. The “progressive” movement has built its whole foundation on sand - lies. It will eventually fall, and it’s fall will be great.

Persevere, endure the moment, and live not by lies. The truth shall prevail. And when it does, we’ll be stronger, closer, and better equipped to defend her.

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

God bless!

As a kid, I used to listen to your father on WOR. I would have to hide my small transistor radio under my pillow, because my parents wanted me to go to sleep for school the next day. I was born conservative and am now libertarian. I have always been “political”.

My father turned me on to talk radio in 1989. I cut my teeth on MaHaRushi and Bob Lassiter in Tampa Bay. I enjoy conversational talk radio and I wish I had known of your father Celia. I think I would have been a fan. I am a fan of his daughter.

As a Canadian, I kinda liked NYC, because it was different from Toronto, where I was born and raised.

My last visit was some 15 years ago, and still a great place, I even rode the subway.

Now, I have no desire to re-visit.

Ever...

Same for San Francisco...

I prefer to simply hold onto the memories of both cities...

I'm befuddled by Adams just as you are Celia. One minute he sounds like a woke stooge, the next he sounds authentic, and then you get the sense he got the tap on the shoulder and heeded the warning to get back on script. It feels as if he knows he was "selected" by TPTB, but every so often he just can't stand the straitjacket and busts out with what he really thinks. The way the Dems have left him out to dry on the immigration issue I'm sure has made him realize he's only useful if he plays their game and they'll throw him under the bus just as soon as look at him if he gets out of line.

Oh gosh, "no throat chakra" - THAT is a gem! Doesn't that just hit the nail on the head?

LIved in NYC in the early/mid seventies as a young actress.

West Village. Have been back several times and each time think "I'm moving back!"

My apologies, Celia, I was a dye hard Democrat from Massachusetts so I voted for Koch.

16 languages! Oh that I had the discipline. That is marvelous.

I'm rambling. Such memories of that city.

I've always said that upon graduation from college every young person should move to NYC for at least a year.

I was in NYC for what was going to be a wonderful 2 week stay all by myself in a lovely upper West Side pre war apartment on - get this - March 14, 2020. Since it seemed, all of a sudden, at that point that the National Guard was going to close the borders I thought it best to get back to my home in Boston as my cat would need me. Otherwise I'd have gladly stayed and fought the good fight.

I could not believe that New Yorkers capitulated so quickly and so completely. New Yorkers! What happened to their throat chakra?!

On March 15, before leaving, I took a long walk to Times Square from 89nth St. Restaurants had already closed. No one outside. So quiet.

I will tell you this about NYC - everybody says "Hi" on the street. Every single delivery person passing by, every Doorman, everyone. And I'm an old lady! Everyone says "Howyadoin'?"

I'm moving back! lol

i opened my business in the city in the pre-golden age. dinkins (democrat) was the mayor and the garbage NEVER got picked up. there were literal mountains of trash piled up on both sides of every street, 6 or 7 ft tall. the smell!! the union had every excuse not to pick up the trash.

i was living in my costume shop on west 38th st, totally illegal. the elevator locked and no one could get to you on the 11th fl. but outside, it was a jungle. i never went out at night except in a cab and when the driver brought me back home, i'd always ask him to wait until i was safely inside.

one night i went out to get some orange juice from the deli around the corner on 8th avenue. there was an elderly woman in the store just trying to pay for her items, who was being hassled by a gang of black kids. when i say gang, i mean like 10 - 15 young men, probably between the ages of 17 - 21. they wanted money from her. it was unbearable to watch. i finally went to one of them and asked what he wanted. he said they needed 25 cents so i gave him a quarter. they stopped bothering the old woman who was able to finally pay for her stuff and leave and, with my 25 cents they were able to pay for their stuff and leave. then it was finally my turn.

with my orange juice in hand, i left the deli and turned down 38th st. unbeknownst to me, the gang was huddled on the street side of a mountain of rubbish and i heard one of them say "i want that white bitch" and another said "no, that's the lady who gave us the quarter."

i ran as fast as i could, got myself safely in the lobby and onto the elevator which i locked behind me. imagine your life being saved for 25 cents! if 10 to 15 guys had gang raped me, who knows if i'd still be alive when someone eventually found my body buried in the wall of trash?

then Giuliani (republican) was elected and, as much as i didn't like him, the garbage disappeared and i found myself suddenly going to the theater or out to dinner at night and being able to walk home. it was an amazing transformation. he made it clear that certain behaviors would not be tolerated, that he would fuck over the unions if they didn't pick up the trash and poof! like magic, the city became a great place- a golden age.

mayor adams may not see a solution but there is a simple one- close the borders, have more compassion for your residents than your invaders, don't spend any money on them, tell the president that you will not accept them and remind him that he, as president, is sworn to protect the nation.

NYC is facing a depleted tax base with commercial real estate sitting empty thanks to pandemic zooming. there's no way it can pay billions of dollars to support people who shouldn't even be. there
